What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Went to B&Q a couple of days ago, as I was driving out of the car park I spied a minty, mint Vauxhall Viva. Lovely it was, white, on a G plate and had a young, possibly early 20's couple sat in the front nomming away on KFC. Got a big smile off both of them as I gave a thumbs up whilst driving past.

Excellent.

Motability car goes back on the 2nd Jan.

But I now have a bit of paper declaring no accident claims in the last 9 years.

Which is not the same as 9 years NCB, but some will accept it.

We shall see.

Have you tried quotes with zero NCB? I've found it's only made 50-80 quid difference tops between zero NCB and nine years NCB. (For a 32 yr old living in Bristol)

Mrs S is out so Keith the Dog and I get to binge-watch Project Binky on the proper telly.

Saw a van today with the registration ****KKK. Obviously means nothing in Spanish. But I could not personally drive a vehicle with this registration to other European countries without getting some strange looks.

I cannot find the joke thread. has that too got culled?

I was going to add this to that one.

Tried that at the start a couple of years ago, was around a grand.

Will ring Peter Best, my policys up for renewal towards the end of the month and I'm in Spain 10 days so I don't really need a car at the moment.

Have thought of buying and insuring something else and leave the 75 on classic.

Should have bought the Multipla.

I received a letter today that the post office had not date stamped, therefore the stamps were unblemished.

Cue holding the letter over the boiling kettle to retrieve and reuse the stamps, $2 saved.

I am a tight git.

Received a heap of forms from the Swedish pension service to claim pension from the time I lived there.

Only five years since I originally asked the UK pension service to see to it, as they were supposed to.

Bit of a struggle trying to compose a cover letter in Swedish, 40 years after leaving there (under protest).

It's on the third page of the open forum and took me about thirty seconds to find.

Also as you have previously posted in it you could have just checked through the 'your content' bit of your profile page.

Not difficult.

I hope that one day the grin, grump and news 24 threads might return to being about actual motoring related stuff rather than just a pseudo Facebook news feed full of shit memes, posts about what people have had for their dinner and the perennial nobheads shouting their inane comments and antagonistic opinions at internet strangers who aren't interested.

Saw a white VW Golf MkIV Estate SDI at Tesco in Dover this afternoon.  The Holy Grail of post-2000 VAG spots.  Rare as Hen's teeth.

There's a burnt orange Polo Estate SDI in Deal and that's probably even rarer but it's on a pre-2000 plate.  Almost nobody bought an SDI Estate Golf. So far, I've only ever seen two and the other one was in the Fleet Air Arm Museum car park about two years ago.

Brightened up what would otherwise be a miserable day.

Isn't the whole point of grin/grump that they are off-topic? Doesn't anyone remember when the mods tried to put them in the open forum without warning, and mass outcry had them moved back into the main?

They're basically here on grandfather rights, and the fact they're part of the very fabric of the forum.

Now there's a thread that keeps itself afloat. ;)

Exactly the grump/grin threads are part of the bread n butter of AS. To suggest changing/moving/killing them is just bloody stupid.

I am surprised by this news as I have read that the the triple K is active in the UK. Thanks to all of those that corrected me.
