What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Life is fucking surreal, I have everything I could possibly want right now, and everything I've ever dreamed of. I honestly never thought I'd ever see the day I was legitimately running two cars at the same time, with my parents' blessing, have a shed full of properly good bikes, good friends, a job I like... it's just absurd.

I just wish I could keep up with university, as otherwise, life is pure paradise.

What are you studying?

Maybe the last clutch he paid for was a Mk2 Cavalier?

I don't think you should critised the potential customer when it's the automotive industry design teams that have fucked up the servicing times.

Most garages would agree that if they bought it in on Tuesday morning it could be ready by 5pm Friday. And at 4:30pm would start the job. Because "we have 3 mechanics off sick"

Don't be too harsh, just because we know what's involved in replacing a clutch that doesn't mean Joe Public does. As far as they're concerned it could be no worse than having a pair of shoes heeled.

Maybe it clouded my judgement of her because she rang my phone on sunday about six times like her house was on fire

Ah, one of those customers... and yet, the clutch had probably been slipping for the last 4 months?!

Yes but now it's urgent

Sounds like the kind of route someone like that would take.

I just heard something on the radio about a study done by a university into the causes of breast cancer.

Ironic that it was done by Bristol University...

This may sound harsh but I’m pleased that my cousin and her fiancée have split up. I quite liked the fiancée (as long as we didn’t talk politics) but the thought of the two of them together as a pair of Deloittes asset managers (or similar) really was sickening and smug...

Unfortunately they also had a mortgage!

Cheggars, just now

Last time I was on something like that was on the Isle of Shite!

That'll be '38 stock on IOW. Basic structure of which was used until the dreadful '83 stock AFAIAA

Back in London. Tubeshite!

Stabling lamp would suggest 1962 stock. Could be one of the few 1959 stock DMs that were converted to go on the Central line.

Although doubled in pain this morning thus forcing me a day off work, it was nice to have a random day off. Today I managed to catch up on some my childhood programmes I bought on DVD last weekend, caught a couple of episodes of the original Paddington Bear, then watched an episode of Rainbow (with Geoffrey) and finally an episode of the original Postman Pat. Proper put a smile on my face it did!

Found this under the spare wheel of my capri earlier as I was deciding where I will fit my fuel pump

I wouldn't have thought a capri would be good for carrying your golf clubs though with the shallow boot especially if you've got some council slabs in there to improve traction

We've all heard the stories of "the original owner spared no expense, changed the oil ever six months irrespective of mileage..." Claims about cars we've bought.

Think in this case though I'll believe it.

How clean is that!

Hopefully having changed the timing cover gasket (genuine Mercedes one) it will be oil tight too now.

Not yet but I'm working on it. I also cheated a bit by getting the DVDs (which also includes 'Ivor the engine') as I was helping out at a local charity shoppe I frequent and as I was sorting out the DVDs I spotted the ones I liked and set them aside for me. So glad I did. I'm now starting a collection of my childhood shows so currently on the lookout for; Superted, Count Dracula, the rest of Rainbow and Postman Pat, the original Thomas the Tank engine by Reverend W Awdry, Button Moon etc....
