That's bloody marvellous.  I know what kind of standards the RNCM have to enrol people in the first place.  As a much less-able musician, I stand in awe of people as good as that.  I see a lot of young musicians and it's only a few that rise to that point, so congratulations all around.

If he's at the RNCM, he might know my brother.  He used to know a few people there in musical circles and he lives in Manchester.  Interesting...

The other day I replaced a rubber seal on the Cowley's wiper spindles.   There's a narrow chromed nut holding the thing on, of a size that easily defeated the AF open-enders I keep in the car, it also defeated my resolve to find the right size.   Luckily it cracked off to the kiss of an adjustable.   Did the job and after a few hours cocking around elsewhere I put the car away.   I got it out again on Friday, a few days later.

Sunday I took it to one of the grandkid's birthday party out in the Forest and then stopped off in a potholed car-park by a pond to get Mrs Rocker an ice cream (she does anything for a 99.....).    Had a good drive round and since then I have used it for work.

Couldn't believe it today - went out to the car park just after a heavy shower to see if it had leaked again (it hadn't!) and there was my bloody adjustable - still sat hooked between wiper arm and screen rubber.   I had even used the washers and wipers on Sunday too!

God knows how much din that would have made if it had slid off - probably would have sounded like the bottom pulley going through the radiator.   And God knows how much time I would have wasted looking for the bastard - probably during a roadside FTP.

Made me smile, though.

The Mazda is running right, I can almost dare to say I can trust it. Fixed the idling and running issues, most of the dent and oil leaks, changed oils gear box and engine and shoved in a newer battery I had lying about (kept the old one for tester probe). The thing is mechanically 98% (rear brakes and near side wheel cylinder to be replaced very soon, and exhaust downpipes a bit later) and is now supporting me in completing the refurb of my flat so I can sell up and live in the country. Not so long ago I was going to sell it because I thought it was going to push me to mental collapse. Now I have a reliable, well service, 2ltr, velour lined pimp wagon, with 12months ticket for under £550.00. Feels great to turn that corner. It didn't leak oil on my inlaws brand new drive either.

I would very much like to meet this Mazda at the next meet, old bean!

Yes, a small crowd of us trekked across after the Electric Railway museum visit last year and had a cracking time.

some of us may* have giggled like schoolgirls when the Ailsa went down the bypass like stabbed rat!

Good thing for the day.

Had a vegetarian chilli in a can with rice for dinner.  It defied all expectations and was actually really nice.  If I'd discovered it when I was single and living on my own, I'd probably be a lot better off financially seeing as I used to default to Pizza Gogo when I got peckish and had FA in...

....Read an anecdote along time ago and can't vouch for it's truth, but it was about concentration camp inmates joking that at least they got a free haircut and a new set of clothes....

During the Nazi reign of terror, Horowitz the tailor found his shop being raided by the SA. After smashing some windows and roughing the fella up, one of the SA thugs pressed his face close to Horowitz's and demanded:

"Who vos responsible for Dolchstoß and Germany losing zer var?!"

To which the little tailor promptly replied: "Zer Jews und zer pretzel makers!"

The SA thug scratched his head and asked: "Why zer pretzel makers?"

Horowitz answered: "Why zer Jews?"

Landy pic is a bit confused . Drawing looks very series 1 in proportions but with headlights in the wings. Also Series 3 in the pic.

Also what units is the drawing in?

Don’t try that wheeltrim sketch when they’re made out of metal. Got a flat tyre in the pissing rain on the way to Oswestry in my recovery truck years back and didn’t have an Allen key to remove the wheel trim.

Smashed the shit out of it, then lost about 300 pints of blood as I cut my hand on the bastard.

who did you do recovery for??

The drawings are a bit simplified for tech drawing beginners.

The units are ratios, they could be drawn whatever size you want as long as the lengths are in the same ratio.

Had a lovely week and a couple of days staying with my parents, spoiled only by discovering the other halfs car really needs a rear subframe then having to weld up the remains before I was happy to drive home. Anyway my kids got to spend time with their grandparents and play a lot, they also got to use the new quad after I slowed it down, here's no.1 son riding round before being told to get some trousers and proper shoes on before continuing!post-5068-0-82722600-1533727452_thumb.jpg

Sadly the old pit tips and disused railway lines I used to ride on are long gone so they were confined to the horse paddock.

The quad is a Quadzilla Ram 100, bought as a replacement for their LT50, I had pretty low expectations really but it's excellent, well build with grease nipples where required and sensible parts prices with good availability.

No 1 daughter was better on 2 wheels so I need to get the engine of their trials bike rebuilt so she can learn how to use a clutch.

I’ll have a go scanning them tomorrow when I can next get my hands on them.

There is a second volume deep in the pile of books I’m going through that may reveal more chod!

So it's now a two owner car...?

Yep, I'm the 2nd owner-  I purchased it from the son, his father had died about 4-5 years previous and it had sat in the garage. apparently it had a good chunk of paper work. but he couldn't find this.

I can't believe I've had it 7 years now. still not really done anything with it sadly, perhaps 2020 when holidays are all done?
