I know I'm not the only one thinking this but I just want to say how pleased I am that this didn't end up on the oval. Good work everyone!

I really hope they're able to keep that business going. The screen on my XM has cataracts from water ingress and a regular occurrence on the XM forum is someone posting how they've just snaffled up the last NOS screen to be had anywhere in (select your choice of country) so I'm reckoning by the time I've 1: run out of more pressing things to do and 2: amassed the money I need to spend on my XM getting it roadworthy again, there'll be no screens left anywhere. Plus, I'd like a heated one.

Been offered a garage by the council for £18 a week. Need to do some finances later and see if I can make it work...

Quite expensive. I pay £90 a quarter in Northumberland.

Unfortunately, for us Southern dwellers it's not particularly expensive. Mine was one of the cheapest I could find within 25 miles at £80 p/m.

Not a bad view from the hotel last night. Dunno if it comes out on a phone pic but Salzburg is in the distance. Damn good steak washed down with a few beers ended the day well.c745d117ec315581363937e325e6e42b.jpg

There's a company in Bolton who'll make you a new lexan screen (Mot and wiper friendly, heated if desired), no moulding or tooling fees so they can build a glass library.

Of course the 929 is now MoT-exempt. Not that I'm suggesting it's used as it currently is, but it does give a bit of flexibility on what's done with it.

The idea of a heated 'screen in an older car is pretty good - in my experience demisting on cars up the mid '80s leaves something to be desired.

Usually because of the water in the footwells :)

Lock-ups around here are selling for 30 bags. That's why they charge like a wounded rhino for rentals.

We're off on our hols tomorrow, looks like the floppytop is going to be down more than up this year :)

I'm at the Transport Museum in Wythall. Literally crashing my yoghurt truck at every turn. They've got loads of free mags and books too, and some carrier bags to help you cart them home. LOOK.

Have the ASMM been here for a gathering yet? If not, totally recommended - four quid entry and a cafe run by pleasantly confused gent selling home made cakes and tea in little pots.

I'll do a proper writeup in due course

Picked up an elderly couple from Tilbury Cruise Terminal this morning and on the way round the M25 we passed a young man in an old blue roadster, dwarfed by all the other traffic.

The old boy was reminiscing about when he had a Spitfire identical to it and regaled me with tales of escapades and breakdowns until it had to go when he got married.

I was biting my tongue the whole time and my inner pedant was desperate to tell him it wasn't a Spitfire at all, but a Fairthorpe, I resisted and enjoyed his stories.

Pretty sure it was this actual car

Yes. They had loads of random old electric car literature from the 70s, felt a bit guilty grabbing too much.

I'll summarise when I get home, I might pass it on if it's not my bag. Seems to be someone's travel journal of living with an electric vehicle

On the bike heading up the M11 passed by a French reg Hyundai 4x4

Not two miles later we passed a French 59 reg 2cv Lille I think

Even though they're in the south of England it's a fair way in one of those and they said to tell marsden to mtfu

Yes, a small crowd of us trekked across after the Electric Railway museum visit last year and had a cracking time.

Curious about the electric car book, any chance of more info?

Professor gets piss taken out of him for lecturing environmental studies whilst driving a 20MPG truck.

Professor buys an electric converted used US Ford Escort that can do 65mph and 60 miles on a charge, in 1991, and drives it 3000 miles home.

Just starting it, it's pretty good. Just documents his journey and is nicely split between the technology and the journey and history.

Happy to pass it on when done.

If that 107" was based at Bearwood Garage, chances are I've been in that when I was nipper, my Grandad was quite a senior manager at Midland Red and my Dad a Motorways Express driver, we often seemed to have the Land Rover or a Thruppenny Bit to take stuff to the tip or whatever. As a 5 year old I was fascinated by all the gear levers.

Can I have it please.

Happy to then pass on to 2nd dibser.

I shall PM you when I'm done :-)

Are they trolling by using a beetle outline? ;)

They're filming a Men In Black spinoff in London. (I had no idea either)

But there's a new car, this sweet Jag.

My family came down from Kent today. Moving to a larger property with garden and proper lounge etc so I can entertain guests really makes me feel good. Hopefully once we've got the spare bedroom sorted it means I can help put people up with colekshon capers.
