What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I chap posted on the local freecycle group asking for a radio/cd player - I have had one in the shed for years now so pinged him a message - turns out he drives the local variety club minibus (An Iveco 59-12 for extra shite points) and the radio has packed up so he can't get traffic reports.

Iveco looks like this

I dropped the spare CD player off with him tonight and saw the Iveco, he was really pleased and a genuinely nice chap. He does it as a volunteer and was really grateful.

I did say to him it had been in a box in the shed for a while but I think he was just grateful for something that should work. Hopefully some good karma coming my way, or at least balance out the bits and bobs I've had from freecycle over the last 18 months.

Just bought a pack of theseattachicon.gifIMG_20171211_180456.jpg

Forgot all about them, haven't eaten one since school days

For some reason they're not as good as I remember - I bought a six pack and still have a few left. Disappoint.

When are they bringing Cresta back ?

My fibre is alive! 38mbps instead of 1.8mbps. I can now look at pic heavy threads without a teabreak as they load.

Imaging actually volunteering to drive an Iveco, don't ever pick a fight with him FFS.

I'm slightly concerned about ours. It's meant to be getting installed on Thursday, but the weather is playing havoc with services around here at the moment. I can see it getting rescheduled...

I don't care about yours, mine is glorious! :D

To be fair that's pretty below the 100Mbps I'm supposed to get but everyone on this estate is on Virgin because of the history of cable TV round here (Diamond Cable > ntl > Virgin)

If we're going to get involved in willy-waving, I see you're 63.90mbit and raise you

We're very fortunate that we're in the same position - 90% of the estate was cabled by NTL yonks ago and actually Virgin Media are the only option unless i want to pay £250 for BT to put copper wire in, for a less good service!

You can all piss off, I've never had more than 8mbps before so I'm enjoying this.

Just another day driving to and from work...

There was Malcolm (in the middle)

post-20944-0-47681800-1513040368_thumb.jpg

There was a white van man...

The truck (stuck) on the hill...

post-20944-0-20004800-1513040488_thumb.jpg

And one in the lake...(not frozen over enough to stop him going through the ice yet)

Can't quite see it in the photo. 3/4 of the car under water. On the way back, another car had gone in at the exact same spot.

Should possibly make 31F here on Wednesday - who knows it might just squeak above freezing.

And most amazing of all were the idiots walking out on this...

Wonder what the range on a Leaf would be this morning if you had the heater on AND the heated rear screen.

I'm more excited about this being in our work car park than I possibly should be!

Can't comment on the LEAF, but having driven a Nissan e-NV200 in similar conditions, I can safely say that 61 miles is about the maximum you can get, and that involves driving very slowly up hills and having very cold feet. That was with the 24kWh battery.

The 940 brick failed its mot today, why a grin well bought for £650 a couple of months ago and drives great and the fail list was small.

Handbrake inefficient

Antiroll bar bushes and rear indicators not orange enough which was just bulbs.

He also spotted a front brake pipe rubbing on the antiroll bar which would have left me stranded at an inappropriate time, and ive already fitted a new piece and rerouted it. Wasnst to bothered about doing this because i wanted to replace the dirty brake fluid anyway so wasnt much extra work.

Not bad for a high mileage 20 year old shitter, just got to order some parts tomorrow and get it retested.

56 miles achieved today  from 24 kwh, with 16 miles left in the tank.  Not hanging about either.  That's with the 'ghastly inefficient' heating and A/C on, no heated rear window though because the car got up to temperature and demisted using the mains on the timer whilst I enjoyed a bath.

250 miles planned tomorrow, might take a coat.

To be fair, if you're in a LEAF of decent spec, it'll have the heat pump heater, which is meant to be a fair bit more efficient. I am missing the heated steering wheel...
