What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Just booked tickets to see the Wildhearts on tour next month in Exeter. Haven't seen them live since the mid 90's. They used to be really loud, but as this tour is accoustic I expect it will be a much more refined performance. Well thats what I am telling my other half anyway! this is payback for her making me go to see bloody Robbie Williams earlier this year.

If anyone else is interested tour tickets available here https://www.omerch.eu/shop/thewildhearts/tickets

Ohhh, that's tempting - not seen them live in many years now but they always used to be really good :)

I'm having trouble imagining Wildhearts playing an acoustic set, but I'm sure I'd have said the same of Nirvana at the time and their Unplugged in New York session is probably one of my most played CDs over the years.

There are some hilariously cheap cars For Sale on here at the moment.  Always a cause for celebration!

Sounds like a lot of fun, I knew Imp bits were good if you could keep them inside the block.

BMW K bike engine is emerging as the go-to powerplant for megga death/thrills *delete according to tealeaves/ouija board prognoses :)

... lots of shells still on fleeBay & cottage industry in bits is tootling along.

oooff!!

A local engineer chap I know has a clan crusader.

It has a well tuned imp motor in at the moment but he is in the process of getting a modern bike 16v head to work on it . Actually that must have been a year ago when I saw him so it may we'll be done by now .

CBR900 might be fun if you got the weight of the imp down enough

Or an FJ1200?

The BMW brick engine wins out over both because it's not unit construction: the 'bike gearbox bolted to the back of the engine, so a bespoke bellhousing on the Imp gearbox and a bit of magic with the flywheel and it screws together nicely.

Personally, I quite fancy turbo'ing a K750 engine and sticking it in the back for that 3-pot sound.

If you go to the IMP forum you will see that the guy Clark Dawson(developed the K bike kit) was a fair way through a 16v bike head fit... Gave up = Beemer is so right, m8 ;)

I learn something new everyday I though only old Brits and Enfield Robins were non unit construction!

I'm pretty sure HDs are still not unit construction.

I have seen them (well Ginger and a roadie ) doing an acoustic set, in a small side room at the Wulfrun.

Great night. With such good songwriting , it doesn't necessarily need to be electrified.

He has a good live acoustic album titled 'Potatoes and You' Its can really good album full of personality.

Smiled as I followed a 66 plate ASDA home delivery van this lunch time and thought, 'good to see they are checked regularly for roadworthiness'. I wonder when somebody will notice the rear light clusters are wired up wrongly, the reversing lights come on when the brakes are operated (at least the high level one operates as well).

The gearbox sensor on my Ducato motorhome shat itself in Scotland earlier this year, it was double-reading for a bit then nowt. Accordingly, at one point the speedo was saying that we were doing 120, but the tachometer had the correct revs showing for 60...!

A phrase from "Bike" magazine in the late 80s - about the time of the fall of Communism - about the new Polis motorcycles with brick-shaped engines:

"It'll never beat a well-sorted Jawa."

I'm wondering if we should show you the door. Things didn't work out well for the last moron who came here with a speeding boast.

It's not the speed that's truly egregious; it's the admission to racing on a public highway which is the greater offence in the eyes of the law.

So: let's not feed the troll.

I sincerely apologise for my reckless behaviour.

Sorry.

Deleted my posts regarding it.

Could others delete theirs that quote it please.

Once again, sorry.

I got done for 'racing on a public highway' many years ago on bikes, many many points and big fine. Problems was: we weren't at all, just riding sensibly, a bike shot past us and a cop car following it decided we were involved and did a handbrake turn in front of us to stop us. He was proper riled up!

Prick he was.

Years ago a bloke I knew slightly had a V8 Escort Mk1 van and was racing a Ferrari off a roundabout and winning. Trouble was a speed gun further down the road.

it went to court & his defence was 'come on it's 30+year old van & thats a new Ferrari in the outside lane, who do you think was doing 130?'. It worked too.
