What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Walking to our hotel during mid evening in (an eerily quiet) Milan and came across a Lancia Thema Turbo.....didn't expect that.

No way, something to grin about finally.

I've actually had a fairly productive day today instead of the usual lazing around.

Been putting on a bit of weight for the past few months and after some nagging from the wife and a bit of inspiration from here I decided to get out my weights and start doing a bit of exercise.

Then the back garden has been growing out of control then suddenly over the last few days, some rubbish had been cleared and the the garden strimmed (not by me, you understand). So I decided to go out and tidy up the rest, cutting back some hedges, then revealing some old brickwork walkway under years of soil, dirt and weeds using only a wooden stick as there are no gardening tools here to use. That was a good workout too so may even include that in a new Sunday routine.

The over to the Rover to get rid of cobwebs and pump up a tyre, more rear sill fell off courtesy of the plastic brush handle. Tried to jump start it but my jump starting cables weren't long enough to stretch from the BMW. Maybe another day.

Hopefully gonna keep on doing some exercise to my upper body. I do a lot of walking in my job so walking isn't a problem, just the rest is. I'd like to try bike riding but it means purchasing a good bike, however it'll be good investment and hopefully help with raising my stamina, which I have very little of.

Ok, it's not miracles and probably not as much as many of you on here might achieve but it's a start and long may it continue.

I saw a well used New Hudson motorbike today, chugging along the A174. I hadn't heard of them before and from the Google pics I'd guestimate circa 1913. Something like a well used version of this

Been to a car show today at Grange-over-Sands, with Huggy.  Also, Dave came up from Southport (without the AS 75) so we had a good day.... and for the first time since I've been going to this show, the sun shone!  So much so I'm feeling somewhat burnt.  Huggy got loads of attention, including a surprise meeting with Doctormop of this parish!  A day of Grin indeed.

A grinworthy day indeed Eddy, so glad I managed to motivate myself into actually doing something on a Sunday afternoon, great to meet you and Dave and I think you could probably tell I was 'quite taken' with Huggy!

Hopefully catch up at the Millom show in September; will keep you posted if I'm not working that day,

If you do a lot of walking then try carrying a small amount of weight with you(in a backpack or if you don;t mind looking odd a diver's weight belt) and increase the weight slowly; you won't notice the difference but it will have a big cumulative effect. The fittest I've ever been as an adult was when I was a postie, walking about 3 miles and cycling the same distance 6 days a week, the walking done with a bag of up to 20 kg of mail.

I'm sure we left a bike in your garage in Telford Mo ;)

There is a racing bike here you are welcome to borrow if it isn't too big, will measure it up later.

If I was going to carry weight around with your job I would fill up bottles of water and put them in the backpack. That way you can always drink them if the walk is harder than expected.

So I bought one of these in ACA's last sale

Today was the first time I've been near it since parking at my mates place.

Started first turn although the air suspension took a while to lift.

Anyway brought it into work to have a tinker about and loads of folk have stopped to have a look.

"look at the room in the back" said everybody. It's an LSE that's what the L stands for.

You should sort the suspension before you burn out an overworked compressor, air springs are cheap.

Yes it's on the list of jobs to do.Not been started for almost two months so it was bound to sink a bit.

Just had a look on How Much Shite left. Bloody hell, my Pug 305 GRD  is one of only TWO on the road and its very likely the other is an estate, so I may have the ONLY GRD VAN on the road. How effing cool is that ?

I think its dead cool but I am biased. A lot.

So after 12 months and 2 days of driving, I finally am able to get decent classic car cover. Was at work earlier and thought I'd try FJ for the AX and got £136 for the year with agreed value.

Now I can actually use another car....

It's a public holiday here in France today which seem to mean they all have a day off and decide to have car boot sales everywhere. I managed to score a whole load of manuals for Peugeot 204's including parts lists etc. All in French but it has pictures which will help trying to find parts. 4 books for 15 euro seemed like a bargain to me.

In a strange twist..... They dont want it...... So, today i have been blsting about in it roof down. Its great. 1.8 63k squidgy french seats. Its a wee bit frilly, but solid, and mechanically seems spot on. Not sure what to do with it.... Might have to find some shed space.

For a few years now ive been looking for a scuttle trim for my mk1 sierra that isn't broken, they all usually are around the screw holes at the end and worse case scenario the whole end splits away people have them up for a minimum of £50 damaged, I have finally been lucky enough to get an one thats in 1 piece, i picked it up earlier and to top it off it was from a fantastic guy in shrewsbury who i have dealt with for other parts in the past so had a good shit chatting session whilst i was there.

I cleaned it up as it was a little dirty, came with the ends as well

The Red Arrows flew over in V formation trailing smoke whilst I was at the car wash, presumably for the benefit of Bletchley Park rather than me and 12 Romanians , who it must be said, weren't as excited as me.
