Phoned them up to ask why.

"It's all down to increased tax/more claims blah blah bollocks"

Said I'd had a quote of £255 so can they do owt better/match it.

How about £265 with a £150 XS and protected ncb.

Yes please!! Grin!!

I thought Lou was super important and had a P.A.

Didn't make much sense that she was polishing her lackies stuff.

Then I saw the daughter bit.

Popped to my mates bodyshop earlier, I walked in and saw a little bird in his mask, he saw it in the middle of the road so saved it from getting squished

It was in shock must have clipped a car but he was confident it will be fine, i popped back a few hours later and the birdie was released back to the wild and went to a tree opposite the bodyshop

Our neighbour at work today was unloading many of the new mclaren 720 supercar things with gullwing doors.

I happened to notice the quartic stearing wheels! Ridiculed in the allegro forty years ago, but now standard in a quarter of a million £ car.

Harks to F1 innit?

They have flat bottom/square wheels too.

Virgin Media.

Broadband fault for a week, no connection.

Had an engineer booked for tomorrow to fix it.

They've CANCELLED the engineer because they found a local, unrelated fault, fixed that and decided it must have fixed mine.

It hasn't.

"But Pillock" you cry. "You've posted in the wrong thread"

No. After a long phone conversation with their complaints droid about how fucking insane that decision was, and did they think about pinging my router first to see if it had fixed it, I was proper raging. The woman was an obnoxious cow and apparently I'm "lucky" that I only have to wait a few more days for the next engineer.

So I've just taken my superhub outside, smashed the shit out of it with a hammer and set it on fire. I feel MUCH better now.

I've just loaned my bicycle tool box to one of my neighbours ( one who used to have a brand new Range Rover- I think he's been banned) to assemble his new carbon bicycle that arrived today in a box and lots of pieces. Tool box was from Edinburgh bicycle company, and while good is probably £30. New carbon ribble thing is £3000!

But the reason I came here, was having to use the LS400 for commuting to work. I got 24MPG from the last tank and I reckon the rear tyres might not last very long.

I'm not up to cryptic clues this late in the night/ this late in the bottle. I think the lowest I've achieved in the Mercedes is 24mpg too. Best is 32. It likes a drink as much as Oliver reed and Richard Burton having a party.

No, me neither, but many clearly had the same thought!

If you ever get a decent connection you must email / tweet / Facebook that pic to Virgin.

My new greatest fan appears to have nothing better to do with his time than improve my profile rating.

Maybe the kettle's boiled. It must be hard work, all this spiteful 'liking.'

Kettle's definitely boiled. This 'un's making the National Grid shit itself tonight.

Utter bewilderment. Stick it to the man!

It's nice to have fans, even if they're of the swivel-eyed, hard of thinking,  quarter shilling variety.

Utter bewilderment all round have I missed something else somewhere else?

Thing is, I missed it as well. Could you help me find it?

He's right, it isn't.

Yes - I remember hearing it as a 10-year-old, and thinking, "How can they keep going up through the gears?"  There's not a single downshift - but all the upshifts are manual, not automatic.

Oh that's easy, it's in a safe place, almost definitely...maybe

There is.

With slow motion bits.

Just resisting uploading it until I'm not relying on a 4G connection!

My not very old Virgin hub thing died a couple of weeks ago, Virgin agreed to send a replacement without much argument so perhaps they're a bit prone to borking, so to keep me going I opened the fucker and found a tiny surface mount resistor or maybe a tantalum cap was buggering around with the DC in, pinged it off with a stabby implement and it's still working now, I'll swap the new item when I find the time to re-do the passwords in every bastard thing that's wanting.

Just set your new hub to have the same SSID and password, devices won't know any different.

Or sack off the awful router part by putting it into Modem Mode, buy a £30 Netgear or something and enjoy a much better connection.

I tried to do this with some tenda Wireless N router to speed up our sky hub with wireless G. I set its name and password up to be the same, the only thing Amy knew of my testing was when the Internet blipped off and on as I killed the wifi on the sky hub, plugged the network lead into the tenda box and waited for it to turn on.

Shame the tenda box was crap and took 10mb off the Internet speed... I only wanted to increase the internal network transfer speed from my phone to the server in the loft! The hub downloads to my phone from the server over WiFi at 7mb/s, but uploads at 500mb...maybe I should post in techy corner...

But yes, set the new device up with an identical name and password and the only issue you would have is if both were plugged in at the same time, which I doubt you will be doing...
