Also, I ended up taking the train from NY to Boston - the best $100 you can spend on travel...4 hours following the New England coastline. Truly magical.

Envious. How long is the whole trip and where have you been / going?

It was just a 4 day business trip to Boston, but snow on the East coast meant leaving 24 hours late and travelling via New York. The train ride was needed as all flights to Boston were full until Tuesday night.

Don't let anyone kid you business travel is all martinis, bikinis and blow jobs.

I'm just back from the dentists - the broken tooth I went to have fixed turned out to be a lot less expensive than I had feared so I spent the 'balance' on these two

Did you forget the comma after "Don't let anyone kid you"?

Here's a good one from work.

So, I work in the IT department at a university, specialising in the network and telephony infrastructure. Just to give a bit of background.

We have a certain international food chain famed for making sandwiches renting a retail unit in one of our buildings. Let's refer to them as WubSay for legal reasons. Their BT broadband line has been down the past couple of days, causing them to be unable to take card payments. This is not my team's problem because it is a BT line, not anything to do with our infrastructure. However, one of my colleagues went over (after our management asked him) to offer a temporary solution that would go through a small section of our own infrastructure, thus getting them out of hot water until the BT engineer arrived.
When my colleague went over, the sandwich technicians from WubSay eventually put him on the phone to their head of IT for the whole of Scotland. Said head of IT for the whole of Scotland proceeded to be incredibly rude, shouting at my colleague to get off 'his premises' immediately as it was a BT problem and he wanted a BT engineer to look at it. Uh, mate, you're just renting the premises from us, we're your landlord. Anyway, we left them to it.
This afternoon, a BT engineer turned up to the building in question, where they were then directed to the security office to sign into the campus. Security then sent him to the IT Service Desk, who contacted me to ask what was going on. I told them that the piece of phone line the engineer needed to look at was in a plant room, and only the Estates department had a key for it. I apologised for giving the BT engineer the runaround but told him to head to Estates and they'd sort him out.
BT engineer man thanks me and my team and heads to the Estates department and then the branch of WubSay. Upon his arrival, the WubSay branch manager was so rude to the BT engineer that he told them where to shove it and walked off site without repairing their phone line.

End result: WubSay STILL have no card machine. Even funnier is that the cash machine on the outside of the building where they are based has been trashed for the past few weeks, and all the other shops in that building still have functioning card machines!

UTTER FANNIES!

I used to go over to my Uncles farm in Ireland as a kid and with the electric fences he said the best way to not get a shock was to lick your hand and then hold the wire. Obviously we thought he was taking the piss so he licked his hand and held the wire and gave no reaction so we all did the same and it nearly blew our arms off (or felt like it)

He said afterwards that of course he could feel it but you get used to it after 50 years.

Other stupid things we did was to dare each other to run across the silage pit (Surprised any of us are still alive)

Following on from my recent travel woes, I spent Sunday night in the Radisson Hotel at JFK airport.

I'm not saying the cleaning staff are careless, but they somehow managed to miss this "review" left by a previous occupant of my room in full view on top of the mirror frame

Blimey. I want to find that person and suggest they stay in the shithole I ended up in up in Morecambe recently. I think their standards need resetting.

Twat of a journey home from work today. Transit minbus in a right turn lane went straight ahead near running me off the road and didn't see the error of his ways at the next lights, 2 cars driving with no lights in pitch black and just gave a " Dime Bar" stare when I tried to point out the error. Pulling into my daughters road I spot another gormless bastard waiting to pull onto the main road with no fucking lights on so decide to pull alongside as I turned in,as he dropped the window I realised it was my horrid ex and her fella staring back at me  :-D, he seemed to appreciate me pointing out the error but her deathstare was priceless !

One for the why is that there crowd. A car that should not exist in a place where it should not be.

I can't do a screen shot or a clicky and "there it is" thing so will tell you how to find it on Google earth...

Bartlett Texas, on E. Clark st at the corner of Dalton st. a white car.

Probably the only person on here who has ever been in one is Chinatom. But this is the special version, made for the wide open roads of very rural Texas.

It made my day and googling the name of it put a silly grin on my face.

it stars in this utube at 10.00 and a bit

Now your description got the better of me so I went for a look. That really looks out of place.

The Lord of the Rings films, specifically tonight Return of the King. The arrival of Gandalf and Pippin to Minas Tirith, The lighting of the Beacons of Gondor, The Ride of the Rohirrim - I love it all, in no small part due to the music by Howard Shore. I won't watch them for years at a time but every time I do I feel like I ought to every week.
