At the risk of sounding like a right pussy.

Do I dare do the old pre book MOT!? It'd mean driving it from Bristol back home to near Portsmouth. That's a fair way for something that's been sat for over a year.

If it was an SVM Caper I'd be taking an RAC card, WD40, jumpleads, a gallon of pez and a lump hammer to batter the hubs to free the brakes off. I am more or less fucking fearless so delete as applicable for soft southern types.

I think I must of lost my balls since I've been darn sarf so long! I'm a northerner really (Yorkshire).

I did think about going to have a look first and get it running and moving if poss, then I considered driving it to a local garage near where the car is now and getting them to MOT it. Then drive home legally.

Is it worth it though? I could just drive home a pre booked test then work on it at my leisure to sort it out properly and fully then MOT it.

I really do want it though! I regret selling my last one and this one sounds a good basis to make it really nice again. Besides, for free it's worth having regardless!

Use your common sense, if it is too fucked then dont drive it. Otherwise ensure that it is decent enough, follow the SVM methodology above.

Worse comes to worse drive round corner then get flat bedded home.

Tell you what. I'll go fetch it and bring it back to Glasgow. If it makes it I'll pay you what you paid for it.

Nice offer but I'll politely decline.

This is one Volvo that's not going to Sotland. You've taken all the rest!

Saying that if my plan doesn't work out regards to keeping it I'm sure we could come to some arrangement to send it up to it's spiritual home with one of the SVM...

If you get really stuck I am in Bristol most weekends so could give you a hand with it. I will also be in Weson super mare all over christmas. I am sure it will be fine. It does help if you have got someone else to drive you there to collect it, that way it takes away the uncertainty of how you would get home if things go tits up .

You have my sympathy there... Good luck!

Having become accustomed to using the vernacular term "voltage squirter" for a voltage calibration device, a Spanish colleague has just google searched "squirter"...:lol:

Brighton to Glasgow via Cholmondeley for the car show in Gary Cox's old 740 on a prebooked test was my record.

Like to see the pics. I can only do class 4 here and most 110 defenders are now class 7 (3050Kg's) so I'm losing out on a lot of trade.

I took some pics today but photobucket is being stupid for some reason so I can't upload them.

Is it the equipment stopping you doing 7 or the bay size? Might be worth getting one of the package deals to upgrade.

Thanks for the offer. I'll try to get some kind of plan together and see what I can do with it so I may well take you up on it if that's ok.

I've officially accepted the car now too! With any luck I'll have a colexion fred up at some point soon-ish.

I can't really lose whatever happens, if it's a turd I'll give it away again, break for bits or sell it to the banger boys. I'm fairly sure it's not though.

Just spotted a few of my work colleagues out in Bury St Edmunds on BBC Look East!

They were being filmed because they were trying to re-trace the steps of the missing airman Corrie Mckeague and were showing all the places they visited that night.

If I'd had gone then viewers in the East of England would have seen me off my fucking face.

Dear Employer,

You remember during my annual non-appraisal discussion I broached the subject of "working from home" which management seem adept at but us mere morals are unable to use so for the Gas Meter Reading Saga means we waste couple of days annual leave.  Well, taking an executive decision,  I will be "working from home" Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, here's a photo taken on my way home, notice the saloon in the background with a toasting fork on it's grill parked randomly and the passenger going for more water with an old wine bottle to refill it's vitals.

I had a job quite near the Welsh Borders this weekend. I'm not too familiar with these parts except I know them to to be a bit hilly. The hotel I stayed in had a massive camber on the khazi which was a little tricky for this fen-dweller but I suppose if you're used to pissing up a mountain it seems normal.

This was Auntie's first long journey and it did 26mpg which is shit by modern standards but brilliant for a P4 keeping up 65.

My friend of Lexus LS butchering fame bought another Hilux recently, I had a look around it yesterday, it's a very odd Thai import with no heating or windscreen demisters fitted from the factory! It's been adapted since luckily, with some shonky looking vents in the dash and a Heath Robinson valve in the engine bay.

I told him the swish "Hilux Tiger 4x4" graphics need to stay. It's a plodder with the 3.0D engine but seems unburstable, it was cheap for a non-fucked Hilux as well, possibly due to the weird spec.
