What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I've just won a boring round of 'what's ur best price' with someone. It matters not how many times they ask, the response will always be the same. Some people get it after one response, some take shit loads. Emails are free, that's why you haven't got my phone number chief.

That'll be £27.99 for a 5 inch please.

only a muppet pays the menu price, there is ALWAYS an offer, never more than £10 for one so big you could sleep on it round here.

I prefer the pizza shops of 'some kind of nationality' not sure what. They will sell you a massive (probably cat meat) but they fill you up and taste alright for under a tenner.

Don't suppose you fancy selling my Scudo for me?

Thought not.

I'd honestly be more than happy to do that for you.

Happy days: three hopeless offers for my car from the same person and each time I've had 'I won't bring it back if I buy it and I have to get it mended'. Three times I've told him he won't be bringing it back full stop as it does need to be mended as stated on the advert.

This is where I think wheeler dealers ought to be made more up to date to give viewers a taste of the real car selling experience

Mike attempts to sell the car on a well known Internet auction site, has to resist 3 times due to non-paying bidders, someone turn up after winning the auction haggling over the price they won it for with offers of 'CASH today mate' and the eventual buyer phoning up demanding his money back 6 months after the purchase because a totally unrelated fault has occurred therefore the seller must have known it was dodgy.

Well I've had three offers so far - two of half my asking price, and one of £300 - which I said I'd accept but the offeror has now gone quiet, quelle surprise].  Nobody's actually turned up to view the bastard thing yet though.

Billy - appreciate the offer, but the logistics might be a bit awkward...

Whipped the front hub off the red PT after work today, amazing how quickly you can do something once you know how.... It took me less than an hour to do . Having learned from doing the last one I am paying my local garage £20 to change the actual bearing in the morning as its a five minute job with a 20 ton press and a five day job at home with various old, fucked chisels and a f.o.b. hammer.....

My wife has just filled in the marriage allowance form as she earns less than the tax-free threshold and I earn more than it, allowing her to 'gift' £1100 of tax free allowance to me.

The result is a cheque for £212 coming our way from G Osborne esq to cover FY14/15 and ~£20 a month less tax for me this year, putting £220 a year into our disposable income - or half of a decent holiday!

if anyone else is interested, have a look at:

https://www.gov.uk/marriage-allowance

I'm given to understand its pretty easy as long as you have a few documents to hand - certainly took her no more than 20 minutes to complete with both of our P60s to hand.

Specialist cars have that beautiful Brooklands 'R' for sale at £29500 (it is a stunner and makes me feel sick every time I see it!) it's an 'S' reg but the same year as mine. Next to it, also for sale is an 04 Continental GT (also very nice order) and it's only (sic) £29000.

That makes me grin, I admit I am perverse but the newer car being cheaper just 'tickles' me!

Been out and about pissing about in my work van, saw this beauty for sale on a car sales

I drove the Rover home for it is now fixed, garage 2 came good.  They did have to call someone else in to do the job as their kit isn't old enough to serve the Rover but I have learned it's the same system as fitted to very early Freelanders.  Final price was considerably more than I would have liked to pay and my very first experience of booking a car into a garage is not one I've particularly enjoyed.  I'm just glad to have it done and be able to drive it again, startlingly different thing to be piloting after being in the Corsa for the past few weeks.

That wasn't a like for paying more than you would have liked, but a like for getting it going and not scrapping it

Today, I've grinned at every News Bulletin on the Radio.

Every report about the Mars robot thing that Major Tim is driving* from space, refers to it as " the rover" of course I hear it as the Rover.

But then, when I was a kid I genuinely thought the Lunar Rover was made by BL.

I was listening to Classic FM on the wireless on the way into work this morning, when suddenly an advert came on promoting Shitefest!  Having almost swerved off the road in my hurry to turn the volume up, it then became apparent that they were actually advertising Tchaik-fest, a festival dedicated to Tchaikovsky.  Through the tinny speakers in the Transit it sounded exactly like "Shitefest".

Serviced a mates car today, I retuned every FM station to Raj FM and all the AM ones to random French station. Hope he likes Bangra.........Childish but funny.

You are a character in a Viz strip AICMFP. Bah, it was that kind of Tchaik-fest.

Just changed a load of relays in the dollop. It won't make a blind bit of difference but they look pretty :) Also, just fitted me 'new' (secondhand at £110!) aerial. Obviously since the car was designed in the 70s and finished in 98 there was the odd change and revision. I love the way that all these changes and revisions are held on with aluminium sheet cut and bent to make brackets and then copious use of plywood everywhere. All genuine stuff, part numbers and everything! :)

I have been after a pair of downpipes for weeks now, the original downpipes have 'pre-cats' in them and are long obsolete, so some enterprising previous owner has cut them open, hollowed them out and welded them back up - great, solves the blocked cat issue, except it makes it sound like a bag of SHIT

Couldn't find anywhere that listed after market replacements, no part numbers, nothing on eBay, tried owners clubs, breakers, FB pages etc etc. Then I stumbled upon a website that listed the main cats with a "for illustration purposes" picture that *sort of* implied they included front pipes. They were way to cheap to include the downpipes as well but he who doth not ask doth not get

So I emailed and almost immediately they came back and said yes they are included and they are available for dispatch TODAY! So, still somewhat sceptical because A) they were too cheap and B) it sounded like they were just telling me what I wanted to hear, I ordered them

Today, arrives this

Honestly, I pity owners of normal cars, because none of them have ever been this excited about a crummy standard exhaust before.
