Nottinghamshire people might well know of Rufford Ford, which is quite the spectator sport as you cheer on drivers putting their foot down and making a splash.

As you can imagine, it's a bit full right now. It's also coned off with a diversion in place, as it always is when it's been tipping it down. Unless you have a 3 series BMW, naturally.

Note the road alignment is directly away from the camera, the car is actually headed under the footbridge and down the river. Oooops.

The first bit of this video shows the problem - in deep water it can appear that it's a long, shallow puddle as the water "only" comes up to the kerb. Sadly the kerb is actually a footbridge with 4ft clearance.

Also, that video commentary is truly spectacular.

Indeed.  I think Sky Sports needs to offer him a job as an F1 commentator.

If you're very lucky, and own a Citroen, parts of all the variations may be on the same car.

Wasn't it Escorts that started coming off the production line with a disk brake one side and a drum the other?

My Merc has just passed its (4 monthly!) Local Council Inspection.

These things are like the strictest MOT you've ever had ,plus some little Hitler inspecting the cleanliness of your door hinges and counting the safety pins in the First Aid kit.

Anyway, I usually obsess about these things for a week before and change perfectly good brake discs and tyres that have still got 3mm on them just in case. Today all I did was get it washed on the way to the Council, I'd decided if it failed miserably I was going to trade it in and strap myself up for 3 years credit on a 5 year old S-Class.

The feckin thing only went and passed, without so much as an advise. I can see myself working this till its eligible for classic insurance.

The car in Rufford Ford is not a BMW, I'm not sure what it is though.

Could be a 2014 VW Eos.

Moar Photo - Eos it is?

I've got a tow rope out before and towed a Carlton estate with a Reliant Kitten about 5 or 6 miles. Clutch sort of survived.

As it happens, my Rialto has a towbar on it too.

Cool another Rialto on here. Do you use it in the winter? Mine had frozen windscreen inside this morning and the slight* leak into the rear footwells and gone icy

Could've been a Satria Neo - they appear to have carried on selling them for quite a while, probably old stock they had lying around from the days when they actually made an effort to sell cars.

I don't know if the driver of the X5 or me was the most surprised when my 1.0 litre car comfortably pulled to 90mph (hypothetically speaking) in 4th on the M53 before.

In Birmingham (*shudder*) had some chap admire my car at the lights. He said he'd just restored an 820 Turbo. Seemingly this Rover is starting to attract more appreciation. It's not even the older/oldest version! Thats twice now I've appreciative remarks from people :D

Just spotted a Shiter on the telly!

It was a BBC drama and he was part of a lynch mob/posse.

Seems he didn't have to bother the costume dept.

That's not fair! That was my wife's coat. (my hat also had a starring role, as did my wife in a later mob scene).

Back to the ENT docs next week. They've told me to lay off all things pickled or vaguely acidic, onions and other alliums, anything like that. Oh great, should I stop breathing too? Thing is, I have all this Sarson's pickling vinagar which I brought back with me from the UK last year, also about 10 litres of malt vinegar. Arse :( So anyway, I walked into Lidl here just before Christmas and they were selling big bags of small onions cheap as nobody wanted them. Well, nobody except...

Vectra has been towed to my friends daughters driveway. No longer looking an eyesore on the street and upsetting the twats who live in this house. Bonus is I nw don't feel like I'm pressured into getting shut of it and I can fix it up at my leisure when funds allow.

Bought a LG 22 inch backlit HD LED telly from Scumtree for my spare room. Downloaded new firmware, edited it a bit, flashed the telly and enabled all the whizz-bang bits that were crippled.

The seller lives 500 yards away, too.

£15.

Samsung used to be good at making one logic board for many TVs and crippling the features in firmware.

Info-Menu-Mute-Power takes you into service mode, turn them all back on.

That's also good for messing around with hotel TVs, taking off the welcome screen and adding channels and stuff.

Yes, he's the one in the silly hat.

At least his hat fits him, unlike the two with flat-caps perched precariously on top of their scalps. And the bloke on his left seems to have been under the impression he'd be an extra on War & Peace.
