What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

LS, do you live in Birmingham area? Why don't you move to a nicer part of Coventry? I live in Ryton on Dunsmore and have never had any trouble. I'm only paying £450 per month for a two bedroom maisonette.

So, new steering rack, 2 new inner track rods, a CV joint, 2 new CV joint gaitorsgaitors, 3 new exhaust rubbers and 2 new droplink bushes fitted to the meriva for £230.

Happy with that. Swmbo reports it drives brilliantly now, even the scary wheel wobble under heavy braking is gone.

Need to re seal the sump properly, give it a service and maybe, if it doesn't do a Vauxhall I'll get matey to put a cambelt, water pump and the associated on it next year.

Also, by spunking out on her car, I'm allowed more time with mine in a few weeks...

On Saturday my much abused but rather comfortable office chair broke. One of the castors had broken away from the spidery thing at the bottom and it looked pretty terminal but I've had it over 10 years so it's probably due replacement anyway.

Instead of being sucked unto the never ending Ikea hell I decided to mend it using a salvaged spidery thing, a hammer and some WD40 and currently have my arse parked in it writing this.

So that's one pointy finger in the eye of consumerism.

We have a big box of spare wheels for our office chairs for this reason. They were being binned along with the chairs, I went out and salvaged 20 of them! Used 8 so far...

I've barely been able to walk over the weekend, right thigh and knee giving me jip, like severe cramp if I just think about moving, I did some digging last week, moved some heavy things and rounded off with a furious bout of hitching and unhitching a laden trailer with jockey wheel absent so no terrible surprise. Improved a fair bit today, thus off to my fave local charity shop, was becoming regretful as I arrived, having to really slow down for fear of my leg giving way, but waiting for me was this little beige wonder.

A vibrating medical device, and stone me if its cycloid action and polymodulation hasn't sorted me out a treat, a few hours on it has me almost back to my usual state of Adonis-like physical perfection, £7 well spent, especially considering the things are usually hard sell punted to arthritic old ladies for a grand plus.

Although even before the miracle cure, these treasures had me forget my woes, 50p to a pound each, £4 for the tyre pump.

Then it got pricey at £8 for these lamps, then £4 for the stands and £2 for the bucket of keys

The stands are interesting in the way clawlike feet have been formed, and nice deep saddles, as if designed to accommodate axles rather than those awful subframes or crossmembers that lurk in the undersides of horrific modern chassisless monstrosities. The chains retaining the pins are a satisfyingly generous length as well.

^^^ Yo Desmarnd, you seem to have VW key collecting fetish. Not as bad though as my floor mat collection mind.

I do rather unfortunately live in the Birm of ingham. I'm currently looking for work down in Worcester as that is where I'd like to head to, I really like it there and am considering it not just myself but for Lady_Sterling too. Coventry is certainly a consideration, I'd love to live in the estate where Keeping up Appearances was filmed. Is your maisonette a private rent?

At the moment I've now run out of money, have no job so cannot move out of here. But it won't stay like this for much longer.

I can haz a set of stands exactly the same as those, Des.  Trick is to own cars with live axles.

Hey, we could form an owners' club.

Those spotlights are amazing, I have many wants for them.

Im grinning because I have started fiddling with a car again after a long time off the tools - aside from fixing broken dailys of course. I shifted the Land Rover into the garage and made a start to its rebuild. I will post up a separate thread for it.

Check the grump thread in 3 days time for "Fucking sick of this pish, fucking rusty cars blah blah blah" comments.

Driving home I saw two Ferraris and a 911, all on the same road. The grin was the minty green lotus Europa following along, much better.

I saw a Studebaker Avanti last night that made me grin.   Spotted it in the rear view and let it come past.   Looked great at a distance but close up not sure the styling quite works.

Won a spare transit wheel and tyre for princely sum of 99p. Collected it today and it is in excellent condition.

Also sink arrived for camper today and it is a proper sink you can fit stuff in rather usual camper rubbish. Should be finishing the first stage of the conversion tomorrow :)

They also do Strawberry Laces, Bubblegum and Cola Bottles.

A normal bottle of handwash lasts months around here. The kids use the sweet ones so quickly I reckon they're drinking it.

When I was in France, I started some sort of negotiations for another car. Today the negotiations seems to have been wrapped up. I shan't say what the car is other than it isn't a great surprise and I shall be selling off one or two of my current fleet.

Mine did the same and is currently fastened on with picture hanging wire from a £1 kit I bought about ten years ago and never found a use for until now.

Cola Bottles and Strawberry Laces are good but the Chocolate Orange one has me wanting to develop ocd so I am almost always using it.

I wish they did mint chocolate. Cola bottles and chocolate orange have gone down very well in my house.

Spotted this beast the other day, but since i have a free* smart phone, the camera doesn't work, and i didn't want to get laughed at trying to use my Nokia of pure VGA POWER.
So i was quite chuffed when my mate snapped it some days later.

That's a funny bit of design that.  Why would you build an amphibious vehicle that travels the opposite way in water to what it does on land?

Depends if the bow doors open, it could be for off loading onto a beach I suppose?

The game I've been working on since January of last year got really good reviews, thank f***! The previous Forza Horizon I worked my guts on also go the same scores, should go well to getting a better job now.

You worked on Forza Horizon Station?

Can I just say thanks for many, many hours of quiet 10-year-old :-)

(Can you get me any unicorn cars?)

Apple have fucked up again. Big time. This makes me happy.

I'm being chatted up by a girl on facebook. She's gorgeous but in Austin Texas, seems keen to get someone solvent with their own home and a good job. I don't think I fit the bill somehow!  :)  :)  :)
