Just switched internet to TalkTalk. Its so slow it wont even load up the internet speed tester webpage so i can see how shit it is. They have said i need to get faster broadband instead of the one i signed up for which surprise surprise costs a shit load more. Bastards. If its coming through the same line should it not be the same speed as the last provider? Like you dont have 10 pipes coming in your house supplying your gas, you just pay one provider for the same gas you were getting before. Shirley the t'interweb is coming through the same phone line from the same junction box or whatever?

Mr Imp. I'm in the IT and Telecoms business. I have NEVER met a satisfied TalkTalk customer. Ever. Get the hell out of it whatever way you can.

Picked the Micra up - I got it really cheap as the lady who owned it (since 1988) let her grandson use it. He didn't check the oil and apparently the oil light came on and they think it did some bottom end damage.

The car was fine though - the oil light did come on, but it may be down to a faulty switch. I'm not assuming anything, and if the engine is damaged, it's was I expected, so it could be a bonus if not. It sounds fine though, and drove it the 20 miles home. The owner was a lovely 80 year old lady, who stood with tears in her eyes as I drove off.

It's great, completely bog standard, with one wing mirror, no trip counter, no clock and no rear wiper. Everything works, original MW/LW radio is tuned to 1548 Magic. I don't even think it has a model type like L or whatever. It drive 50 times better than my Nippa! Going to buy some oil/filter and investigate that switch problem.

More grins than grumps

Had a great day today meeting Chaseracer, a sunglasses wearing FPB7 and V40ish. We had some at the auction playing who can pick a selection 5 of cars nearing the total price of 3k. Unfortunately I picked 5 too popular cars and ended up having a score totaling over 5k

Picked up some eBay purchases and more than I expected from a member here! 8)

As I got back home I got mistaken for a Catholic Minister by an Irishman. The Irish fella had parked his truck in front of my house, I saw him going to move it and went back out of the house, now I was wearing a Black T-shirt, black trousers and shoues and my long coat, I'd left my blazer in the house (as I'd dropped some burger sauce on it at the car auctions) under my Black T-shirt was a white T-shirt that was a little more closer around my neck than the Black one was so I could see he probably thought I was a Catholic Minister.

Grump: When I was turning the car around back at home, I noticed that a Grey Mk2 Rover 820i that lived around the corner from me had its cover off it. I knocked on the door and bloke had told me that it had been sold for scrap for £150, but the buyer hadn't collected. I told him that if the scrapper wasn't to collect, to knock on my door.

You should have touched him up and offered him a bottle of pop to keep quiet!

Chances are it'll never be sorted out. You'll be told bullshit and downright lies. A chap I was helping out last week was told by TT that his line "won't go faster than 1.3Mbps" and that the limitation was a "physical one with the copper line". Horsehit. The guy next door gets 6.5Mbps on Sky, same ADSL service spec, from the same telegraph pole.

I may be out of date with the specifics. When my sister was with TT, I frequently got the unobtainable tone when I called her. At that time (and maybe still) TT used least cost routing for voice calls, and it sometimes went through places like Vietnam first.

I were just looookin' through Flickr when I noticed that someone had taken a pic of my car and posted it up. I've actually been spotted out in the wild!

Also, I received an e-mail at work asking me to not park in the carpark, apparently the carpark is only supposed to be for field staff and what with a large amount of staff working there and there being very few spaces... It kind of pissed me off as I am very particular about where I park my car, I always have been. To be fair though, the people in the admin department I work with don't park in the carpark either, they are shoved out onto the road.

I was told that I'd either have to park on the road, or the Pay & Display carpark that our carpark backs onto. Sod that I thought.

I had a quick look behind some of the businesses that have private land at the back next to our carpark. The next door funeral parlour had pretty good space and is next door to where I work, so I rocked up and kindly asked for permission to use it, I was happily granted permission to use thier space at the back to park my car in. SCORE

Pic spotted on Bennett's hill Birmingham by any chance??

My old man us with talk talk and thought the service was okay hence why i took the plunge. He said customer service was dire but then again it is with Virgin and Sky too in my experience (virgin tried charging me £200 in calls that were not mine, i opened a dispute but they still put marks on my credit history when i refused to pay despite agreeing that it was their fault). However i am amazed at how the internet has dropped so much. Sky was terrible and we thought it could get no worse but no (i had read Sky were throttling users hence why it was poor) . Will see where we get to on Thursday when the engineer comes round.

I ditched talk talk and went back to bt.

Talk talk router is pants. Dropped connection to broadband constantly. No mobiles could connect to it and the speed* was mind numbing. All problems immediately went away after I put the bt router in.

Plusnet are excellent in my experience, and I can't recall hearing many complaints from other people.

Also used to use TalkTalk and had nothing but trouble

We took all the phoneline block options ( porno numbers/0898/ex directory)

Every month we were getting enormous bills for,you guessed it,0898-porn numbers ect!

Customer services would say they can see the blocks we asked for on their moniter screen but couldn't explain why we were getting bills for them

Then they started taking the monthly direct debit,And the previous month (already paid) as well!!

Soon fecked them right off

Anyone watched Benefits Street? It's not much different to Sesame Street... Both have a big bird, a bloke living out of a bin and people trying to learn the alphabet.

They've been fine for me - first modem packed up but the replacement arrived within 24 hours. I always go out of my way to avoid any company with an offshore call centre since quite frankly with 2.5 million out of work I don't want to have to repeat my problem 3 times to "John" in Mumbai

I must be the only person to be reasonably happy with Talktalk,  no problems to report really.  Yes we have the odd evening when it doesent want to play films or is generally a bit slow but BT were much worse.

Talk Talk at my mum's has been consistantly shite. For seven years, it has been constantly up and down, never connected for longer than 10 minutes. It doesn't bother her, which is why it hasn't changed. She is still paying 15 quid a month for one level up from dial up as well - download speeds of about 70 - 100 kb/s.

I got it again, and it was terrible in the beginning, but somehow has been fine for the past few months - I think it was down to the actual socket and wiring at the wall.

Have had Sky in the past, and it was always OK. I think it depends on your location, you can't always blame the ISP, and when was the last time you posted on a forum about how great your broadband has been?

I gotta say BT Infinity Option 2 is fuckin awesome. It was down for a whole day once, but that was because some dickhead (my ex-girlfriend's brother, to be precise) set fire to something in the telephone exchange. I can see the fibreop cab from my landing window, and I get 76Mbps most of the time, and never below 70. Due to the fact that they fucked up my first bill, I get option 2 for the price of option 1 because I went all Mr Shouty at them. They didn't even get the hump when I told them that I thought the OpenReach VDSL box was shit, and I'd use my own Cisco rig. £18 a month.

I have been with Orange or whatever they call themselves now for the best part of 10 years. Ok it isn't lightening fast but does what I want. The main thing in ten years and a house move I have only had to call them twice. The first time cos some muppet from BT had messed the wiring up at the exchange and the second time to move house. They have even left my tariff alone unlimited broadband, free calls anytime to over 60 countries all for £25 a month including line rental
