Little blue C1 is back with a new LUK clutch for £320. Got my money's worth out of the old one. Plate down to rivets, cover has fallen apart and fingers almost worn thru.

I came 2nd in a Dad's potato and spoon race today 🙂

20240531_143017.jpg.322961efde19a236b803316462d74c6e.jpg

I applied an engineering* strategy of holding the spoon loosely between my finger and thumb to act as a kind of crude suspension system to absorb the shocks from my running.

A lot of the other Dads were faster than me but they quickly dropped their potatoes. My strategy worked well and I didn't drop mine once. I didn't see the tactics of the winning* dad but I did hear some people say I was cheated out of first place. I didn't see if he had blu-tac on his potato or something though as I was concentrating too much 😂

My son also came second in his own similar race!

Tonights papanaşi came as a pair.

I finished them but I'll admit I struggled. It probably is a good job I don't live here.

It's getting atmospheric outside too.

Luckily it was only a five minute walk back to the hotel.

Papanași always have to be in pairs, it's the plural form. A single one should be a "papanaș", but nobody over here would dare to be such a cheapskate to sell them as singles.

Thanks, I didn't know that. The one I had the first night was a single one but it was bigger. I don't think I could have eaten two of those. The Romanian restaurant we used to have here in Southampton always sold them in pairs. They were obviously doing it properly.

Pissing around with Home Assistant last night I found a DVLA plugin 😂

Following the github instructions I now have an API key with 62 requests a month and have some sensors made from my car!

I wonder how far these API keys go 🤔 I could take requests and have it spit out emails when stuff happens/becomes due!

Anywhere in Romania to be honest, it is sort of their national dish, or at least their national desert.

That particular one was in Sinaia at a restaurant strangely called The Irish House. Despite this there was no English language menu. I understand papanaşi though.

I'm not sure I can... 😅

It's the dvla data one gets from doing a basic search online, but I can request the data directly from the servers (twice a day apparently)

Pointless really for me but fun! To get a but more geeky, I have a program called Alteryx on my work pc, and found a guide to pull data via that, which can be done more in bulk, and then cleansed sorted and analysed within the same workflow (again not anything I need to do but say we knew someone with a fleet of cars, some not having seen daylight for years and years and could get every vehicle on one spreadsheet with tax and mot status (no idea what's shown on an mot exempt car...)

@LightBulbFunwill understand (and probably know exactly what limitations and brick walls pulling bulk data from the dvla probably has...)

Getting the api key (the thing that let's me into the data) was automated though and I wonder what limit of monthly queries one could put before it's declined 🤔

Can do pretty PDF reports or just large datasets

It views better when in a spreadsheet but I got Alteryx to bulk query the DVLA from a list of reg numbers, cleaned the crap out of the resulting data as it's badly formatted everywhere and I now get the above! Found some Mondeo's from the mk1 thread. Anyone want any bulk extracts of car data? Happy to generate another API key with a large number of extracts set

for shits and giggles i'd be interested if you could run REV375R-REV475R then tabulate the average life of that registration block by comparing the date first registered to the Tax Due date and then averaging out the figure, you might wanna drop REV451R otherwise that will skew the data somewhat LOL

dont know if you can set it to just automaticly run the 101 marks, but the concatenate function of Libreoffice is great for generating blocks that I feed into my own bulk-running tool LOL

I could probably cobble a long list together in Excel fairly easily, then what doesn't come back didn't exist. Will give it a go in a bit, just got home. The date calcs should be easy too with some date tool action

I've almost got the whole lot automated, but the input thing has to be formatted specifically, and Alteryx won't make a " which the string demands as" denotes the start of a text entry and it won't take "", so the first bit has to be done manually.
