What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I thought it was a mild groaning. Like ugh, but with longer duration and even more despair.

Well, yesterday was a major grump day, but today has been mostly grin (apart from the backs of my hands looking like they have been through the paper shredder!) Firstly after a week putting off fitting the replacement brake pipe to the Astro van, today was the day. As feared, it was a complete bastard, but eventually it was on and fluid tight. Both rear bleed nipples came undone (rather than shear which is the norm in my experience) and fluid flowed through. Tomorrow I need to fit the central flexi mounting bracket, then I can replace the wheels and start on the front calipers. Joy.

Buoyed by my success, I decided to investigate the bouncy rear end and wayward axle on the super-reliable* P38 before listing it on ebay for breaking. A quick look showed that BOTH rear shock absorbers have snapped off, but everything else looks fine. A cheap pair is less than 50 quid and according to the sage ones it is an easy job to replace them. Looks like it may be getting a reprieve and it may live to fight again. This is the 3rd time I have decided to scrap it, and the third time it has got another chance. It is leading a charmed life, or I am dafter than I thought.

Jon (alcyonecorporation) and a couple of others are real fans* of this video about horses:

As far as I understand it, this video is a tribute to the Arab horse. I've had the privilege of riding one or two years ago. They are quite unlike any other - even their ribcages have two fewer ribs than other breeds. Smaller than Thoroughbreds but with considerable power packed into a compact frame. Some people don't like 'em, because of high head and tail carriage and general excitability, but I just like the way they look.

I fitted a Ventura luggage rack system to my KTM motorbike today.

Major grin as I'll be able to ride it to Slovakia via Austria and Northern Italy in May, and will be able to carry more than a spare pair of boxers and a toothbrush.

The whole thing looks a bit salt-encrusted, to be honest....

Yep, I gathered that from the shitloads of pictures of arab horses!

TBH by posting that video I really only wanted to imply that Jon (alcyonecorporation) masturbates over pictures of horses with an arabic music soundtrack, because that makes as much sense as his absurd "hhhhhhhh" does :-D

2 and half months on from the incident that finished the Volvo, I finally have a claim reference number.

Even if I do get a pay out, I have no idea what I will do out of the other side.

Spoke too soon, current indications seem to show I'm about to be rolled over and fucked (again).

How? Is this one of those situations where it would have been cheaper just to bin the car and not say anything?

Their insurer states that they are claiming their builder left their gate open for the dog to escape, hence not the home owner's fault and if that is found in their opinion to be true, I can go and whistle Dixie for my claim.

If it'd have been the Laguna, it'd have been binned and forgotten by now, as it's the Volvo, I don't have the money to replace it and move on.

I'm also now into the Audi for just shy of £500 just keeping myself mobile. Farts.

That sucks. When it all happened I did feel a bit bad as if you hadn't sold the gooner you'd be mobile still!

Hardcore opinions about my spare time. There's no need to project, now. :)

I'm amazed you have any spare time Jon with all that wanking, hats off to you!

Could you then possibly claim on the builders public liability insurance if that is the case?

I call bollocks to their insurer. It’s up to the other party to claim against the builder, not you. I’d be looking up the number for the insurance ombudsman if I were you.
