They_all_do_that_sir Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Seen this on arsebook, it's not terribly priced but could be an absolute pearhttps://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3295983557104569/Obviously it's over here which makes things a million times harder because covid.....Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk eddyramrod 1
eddyramrod Posted October 9, 2020 Author Posted October 9, 2020 Nice van! Way more than I can afford, and too young, but the right engine and gearbox. I'm coming round to the idea of a camper to treat as a dayvan. Sometime, maybe. They_all_do_that_sir and mk2_craig 2
Macscrooge Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Saw a nice CF camper in Netherlands back in August. eddyramrod and They_all_do_that_sir 2
bunglebus Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 My mate has a CF he needs to sell. CF1 camper, has a 2.0 CIH engine but has been off the road a while. Very solid but needs tidying Can only find one pic bicycle repairman and eddyramrod 2
eddyramrod Posted October 9, 2020 Author Posted October 9, 2020 That could be interesting! CIH is the wrong engine but I'm not in any position to be choosy...

The CIH was in the process of being swapped in when he had his motorbike accident and manual gearboxes went off the table. He has a couple of slants too in various states of assembly/condition. Plus it's half the price of the facebook one eddyramrod 1
eddyramrod Posted October 9, 2020 Author Posted October 9, 2020 I hope his recovery is progressing! Sadly Ah'm Oot until I can liquidate some assets, but I can at least wish him luck. bunglebus 1
Matty Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 Eddy Eddy, look!!! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1985-BEDFORD-CF2-250-PETROL-VAN-Read-Listing-/284285422894?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 Isopon, Banger Kenny, bunglebus and 4 others 6 1
eddyramrod Posted May 7, 2021 Author Posted May 7, 2021 Looks lovely! But: does not start, leaking brake fluid... so it's a garden ornament then, for 5K. Also, it's the Opel engine, not the slant. But still beautiful, thank you. Matty 1

eddyramrod Posted May 7, 2021 Author Posted May 7, 2021 @Matty Don't beat yourself up! (There's always someone waiting to do that for you...) It was a good spot, the van looks lovely. It's even the right colour. Just a shame about the specifics. Matty 1

eddyramrod Posted October 17, 2022 Author Posted October 17, 2022 Ah yes; thank you We've already seen it on the ebay thread, but a cross-reference doesn't hurt. If he gets his price for it, that's halfway to the market value of my house. Good luck to him eh? Six-cylinder 1

Interesting van, although the interior is a bit "granny's lounge" for my liking. Not one for restricted spaces with that huge wheelbase.
Bren Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 The carpets look like something from Man about the house. eddyramrod 1

paulplom Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Spotted this in North Shields on Saturday. It sounded very fruity and possibly V8. LightBulbFun, mitsisigma01, danthecapriman and 7 others 10
eddyramrod Posted October 18, 2022 Author Posted October 18, 2022 See now, that's subtle. I like it. The colour is a bit muted and from this distance the wheels are lovely. V8 would be nice, wouldn't it? DVLA doesn't give me engine size. Is it Rover? Chevy? Lexus? Or just the CIH with a fruity exhaust? Anyway it's all on hold at the moment, while I have this lovely Jag. This time next year it'll be due another MoT and I might decide I don't want to take it for a third, in which case with a new ticket I'll be hunting again. My only real complaint with the Jag is that it's too new, and I get awfully itchy feet! (If I didn't have the Jag I'd be all over @gadgetgricey and there would be a black PT convertible outside my house already!)
eddyramrod Posted October 18, 2022 Author Posted October 18, 2022 3000cc suggests maybe an Omega V6. I'd quite like to get up close and personal with this van; perhaps next year. Thanks @paulplom for finding the info. paulplom 1
mk2_craig Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 That appears to have been round the clock quite a few times!!
eddyramrod Posted October 18, 2022 Author Posted October 18, 2022 At least twice, yes. Possibly it was a working vehicle for longer than most; it may also be partly attributable to the change of engine. The odometer on the CF was a five-figure unit as was the custom in those days. Just being able to remember that makes me feel so old.....
danthecapriman Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Found a pic of that one on Flickr It’s a nice van! If the engine size is a 3.0 I wonder if it’s had a (whisper it!) F*rd Essex V6?? CGSB, Datsuncog, mk2_craig and 4 others 7
eddyramrod Posted October 19, 2022 Author Posted October 19, 2022 Essex V6 did occur to me too, assuming the figure is correct (or at least, a close approximation; the Essex coming in at 2994cc). Jaguar also have or had a 3.0V6 in the days when they were platform-sharing with Ford, an engine I believe was also used in Mondeos. Of course it could be a straight-six: Lexus or BMW being strong contenders here. V8 is also possible, but why anyone would put a Stag V8 in a CF is beyond me. I suppose if it was what you had to hand then you might! It would certainly be worthwhile for the music it makes. But this is all speculation, harmless though it may be. The chances of me ever meeting this van are pretty slim. I can just give thanks that it exists at all. My other big fascination is the Vauxhall PA Cresta/Velox. Again, it goes back to having had one many years ago, and no contact since (all the way back to my teens in fact!). I spotted the green one above on Facebook a few weeks ago and offered up Handsome as a swop. Apparently (no reply was forthcoming) my offer wasn't close enough, even though this was the lowest price I had seen on a Cresta for years. The car shown has a Rover V8 in it... The upper end of the CF market (say the £4-5k bracket) just about overlaps with the bottom of the PA market. The X350 market varies wildly but with a new MoT I thought it was worth a go. I could have added in some cash (not much, but some) if necessary, if it could have cinched the deal. OK, this one wasn't for me. Maybe there's another one somewhere. I've already seen another V8 one on FB. danthecapriman and bicycle repairman 2
horriblemercedes Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 BMW M60B30 is a 3.0 litre V8 Fairly unlikely, but depends when the conversion was done. An old E34 530i with that engine was a scrapper and the engines were cheap 10-15 years ago

eddyramrod Posted October 19, 2022 Author Posted October 19, 2022 Looking at those, perhaps I should have kept the one I scrapped in 1983 - it was much better! Datsuncog 1
