One out of six cars functioning. I even had to borrow Gary's flippin' Mondeo the other day. Disappointing.

Was wondering what to do with all my waste thinners

Turns out crossflow Fiestas run fine on a 60/40 mix

50% was a bit too high, it ran fine but pinked

I'm sure its slightly quicker too ☺

Today has been mostly shit.

This morning I was cruising along the motorway in my 360 thinking, this is great, this car is bombproof.

After work, I hopped in and discovered the front brakes are now not working, I suspect this is the master cylinder as pedal goes to the floor with a bit of resistance.

So, I dropped the 360 off at the unit and hopped in the 340. Got to the petrol station and it started misfiring, arse. Need a new dizzy cap for that one.

I then tried to fire up the Imp which wasn't having it either.

So I had to drive the 360 home and now I'm basically fucked.

I've robbed some ignition bits off the Cortina (which needs a clutch) to try on the Imp tomorrow.

I'm sitting steady at 2 out of 3 with the surefire knowledge that it will drop to 1/3 as soon as the car rentals at work get busy.

Last year the MOT's lapsed on the Cherry and the gaffers car on the same day (with all the rental cars out working).

Prior to MGF collection I changed the R8 coupé's distributor cap (again), this one seems to have a much shorter central carbon contact. I wonder if the wrong one had been fitted causing the problem of out burning out.

It started with the engine warm, will we'll see what it does in the damp tomorrow.

Also noticed the air filter is past it's best so that week get done tomorrow.

Although I know exactly what your 360 is , I still got an image of one of these in my head when first reading this.post-17414-0-13895600-1453759944_thumb.jpg

I nearly put the focus into a wall today, I'd bought some alloys for it this weekend as it was on povvo spec steelies and the tyres were down to the wear markers, the tyres on the alloys had a good 5mm tread so I thought they'd be fine plus they'd make the car look a bit better, I remembered that not all tyres are the same when I understeered almost off the road around a corner that I'd been taking at 40moh come rain or shine for the last 6 months, it rapidly became apparent that worn out Michelin's have significantly more grip than nearly new Landsails.

4 new premium Continentals were ordered the minute I got home, serves me right for trying to be a cheapskate.

3/4 legal, but I am a cheat. 2006, 2008 and 2011 vintage. Cranked up the only shiter that I own after sitting for 8 months. Started first click on the booster. Might even clean the green shite from the car and stick it in for an MOT ready for spring. Rennah cabriolet init.

1/1 Legal. But developed a new drone at over 50 the other day. Related to speed, clutch brakes and gears dont make it stop/change...

Goodness, really scraping the bottom of the barrel there.

I've got four out of five running, driving and legal. Suck on that!

Well the "repair" on the CX was a fail.  To be fair, the pipe I repaired doesn't seem to be leaking now (or at least not as much), but the top pipe is now leaking.  It was hard to spot before, but this evening I tried getting the car up to ride height and then forcibly lowering the suspension using the height control rather than just waiting for it to sink under the weight of the car, to force the fluid through the return pipes at higher pressure (should have thought of this before really) and the leak became a lot more evident.  So I'm going to have to have another go next weekend.  It's probably leaking from other places as well, but the return pipes appear to be the primary culprits...

1 out of 15 working. (As long as I don't consider the slipping reverse gear on the working one)

2/15 legal (As long as I overlook the badly slipping clutch, rumbling n/s/f wheel bearing, shagged alternator pulley that eats belts and holed carb heater/exhaust pipe on the GS)

Soon as I retrieve my foot pump from the other lockup and attack the Jeep with it I'll be back up to 5/10 road legal and 8/10 running, which sounds a bit better.

The Renault and the Rover need a couple of odd jobs for MOT but nothing major and I'm deliberately not running them over the winter anyway.

isnt there an electric footpump in you modern german shite?

Posted

One.

Yes that's right, I have one car that works.

Well, it worked yesterday, anyway. I'll find out about today when I find the damn keycard.

Nope, it's on runflats.  The Yeti came with a really good compressor, but I generously (some might say foolishly) left it in the boot when I sold it.

I must be really lucky then as all mine run but only three are road legal,

That's a pretty bold statement, coming from a Laguna II owner

Posted

Er...........I've lost count.

Not many of them work.

Piazza, 460, MGF, Amazon, nob van, Laguna, Charade....not on road.

Leon and 605...er....on road.

Of those, the Piazza, MGF, Amazon and Charade could be made roadworthy with a few hours' work.

The Laguna is a Renault and the nob van is in an even worse state than it was than previously.

Civic - working and on the road

E23 728i's x 2 - both off the road and out of MOT, the X player not running at the moment

Triumph - needs and MOT

Omega - off road now I've got the MG - needs warped brake discs sorting and I need to trace the electrical drain that's recently appeared on it.

Dunno, I'm at 3/3 working.  Which makes a change!

/\ I thought you had a shitroen.

Did have. It crapped its engine and it wasn't worth my while repairing.

Couldn't be arsed explaining it all to AS because it would have bored everyone shitless.
