It's the shiters version, of course, a 60 four cylinder.

What the flying fuck have I done?

I also may be speaking with a considerably higher voice soon as I haven't told SWMBO that I've just spent a chunk of money on a hopeless case that's many miles away.

Lol! I've got a floor you can sleep on if Mrs_FPB7 serves you up like a freekick.

At least you've got what you wanted. Need a spare pair of hands/another driver?

Excellent work ! P4s are becoming fairly popular on here, most probably due to the fact that they're ACE !

I have had my mates 1.6 pinto mk3 cortina for the day as I ordered him a new 32/36 manual choke weber to replace his worn out carb thats been causing him a world of pain flooding it, dying when the 2nd choke opens and general shit running, I replace the carb and fire it up it ran like a bag of crap, so I got my timing light out and it was timed to 40 degrees at idle I thought what the actual fuck, I then checked the cam timing and guess what the cam was 2 teeth out, I couldnt believe it this car was bought supposedly having a professional engine rebuild and its ran pretty poor since he had it, oh well I got to play with and drive a lovely car on a sunny day and im happy to say it now purrs like a kitten safe in a nuns arms, should really be in the grump thread but I thought as it had a happy ending put it here instead

I scored these fishnet Recaro's off gumtree for a decent price to replace the woeful Ghia ones already in my Cortina.

I knew one of the brackets fixing the runners to the seat was broken so decided to have a proper look. The captive bolts all spun but I managed to get 2 of them off and found the the bit of the seat that holds the bolt in was rotten. The fact that I was going to have to weld it anyway made me take it all to bits and they all looked like this on both seats! I bet that would have held in my light weight frame in place no bother in a crash. Typical Ford eh, even the seats need welding.

I drove to Watford this afternoon to collect Des's old box trailer. It was great meeting Des, he's a really friendly chap and a true gentleman, and he even helped get the trailer lights all working, the problem was a dodgy scotchlock on the Somerset's towbar wiring inside the boot. And he refused to take any money for the trailer!

I headed back home on the M25, keeping the speed down as Des had advised the tyres were a bit old. I got as far as Basildon on the A127 and this happened.

Coming around the Fortune of War roundabout the car suddenly felt very strange with a lot of steering needed to keep it in a straight line, and then I noticed a hot rubber smell and the drivers side front of the car getting closer to the ground. Fortunately, I had a decent spare, trolley jack, wheelbrace and all my tools still in the boot from Wales, so it was a five minute job to swap it.

Petrol station shot!

The trailer isn't bad at all. It needs a couple of new hinges and a new set of tyres before I take it too far, but it's not hideously rotten and will come in very useful for tip runs and tat hauling. If anything it sounded worse from Des' description than it actually is. A1 SELLER WOULD USE AGAIN A+++++

Very boring update time, I went round my dads this afternoon in the Mk1 to do a few little job, namely fit a new set of EBC brake pads which seemed to have cured the poor braking that it had, then replaced the rocker cover gasket which has made sod all difference to the oil leak from the rocker box, I'm now wondering if it's the oil cap?.

Lastly we've rewired the CD player in the glove box so that when you turn it off you don't lose all your stations. I love driving it though, I was cruising along the A12 home from dad's this evening and I was getting people pulling along side me giving me the thumbs up and waving which I think is pretty cool. Yes I do need to get out more.

Have a bonus photo of my house from the 70s.

Had a productive day all in all. Fitted a boost gauge to the 760 dizzler to see what the turbo is doing at the mo. Was boosting to 0.5 bar which it a bit low on the standard spec. I cleaned up/ replaced various hoses and clamps in and around the inlet maniford and turbo, and with a little bit of servicing the fuerl pump, tweaking and replacing the fuel filter I now have 1 bar of boost, much better pick up and less smoke too. Tis a bit laggy but thats the nature of the beast.

Also been out with brookjm jr to give the Rover 220 a bit of a shakedown before its 1700 mle scotland road trip.....

The 220 will lap up the miles, I was always confident it'd take me anywhere (and back again) which it did.

All I've done today is clean the 75 and investigate the noisy and heavy-ish PAS in the Cavalier. Despite having fluid in the reservoir last week, it was virtually empty today. I knew there was a leak somewhere but didn't think it was that bad. I lobbed some stopleak PAS fluid in there and bled the system and it's now a lot quieter, but I'll need to get underneath at some point as the leak isn't apparent viewing from the top. The garage floor isn't awash with PAS fluid so no idea where it's going....

You used to be able to get double enders, my A30 had them. Probably those as I can't imagine Dicky doing that schoolboy error!

LBL helped set the world record for the largest parade of MG cars in a single event yesterday.

For some reason I was shoved right at the front, taking this shot before most of the other cars arrived.

I'm still very much enjoying the ownership experience - even if the parade laps themselves were cripplingly slow trudges around Rockingham's outer bowl.

The odometer clicked round to 65,000 miles heading home on the A43, too - shows you how little I've used it since buying it from Mr. Shitpeas [NE] last December.

It scrubbed up pretty well for the occasion even though it was by far the scruffiest 'F there by some considerable margin.

Hope Mr. PBK approves....

Spot on, yes they're double-ended wheelnuts. I think a lot of cars of this age have this style.

Spent the whole of yesterday (9 till 7) working on Lana's MINI after it failed the MOT. Only on two brake pipes, a front suspension bush and the power steering pump - which failed on the way to the test centre! Didn't sound too bad, except that to get the old bush housing out you have to lower the front subframe...

Leaving it attached at the front and letting it drop at the back meant I could get at the bolt heads, but only with a ring spanner which wasn't enough, so the whole thing had to come out to let me get a breaker bar on it. Brake pipes were pretty simple, apart from the fact that one of the unions was a random different thread to the rest, so I didn't have a male nut for it :-(

Got this off ebay because it has SD1 porn - I remember buying a copy of this issue when it came out in 1991.

I need to get it lashed together well enough to get it up for sale methinks. :(

Visited a friend in the village. He owns an AEC RT, which he said he'd let me drive one day. Preselector FTW! Sharing his wonderful barn (big enough to take a double-decker!), carefully wrapped in car covers with battery conditioners attached were a red Ford Ka and a Ford Escort Mk255 (or whatever the late ones were) 1.6 petrol. Magic. Sadly, the only pic I took was this one.

Brilliant fleet shot, and a great fleet; something for any eventuality or mood basically.

GT6 is only any good if you fancy welding at the mo. Needs the O/S sill (and strengthener) doing and a little bit of floor, I did the N/S before I moved over here but due to location am not in a position to finish it. It runs nicely though. Started up with very little coaxing after reconnecting the battery and boshing some fresh fuel in.
