I FUCKING HATE EURO CAR PARTS, THEY ALWAYS GIVE YOU THE WRONG TWATTING PARTS!!! EVERY F***ING TIME!

After 1993ish they dropped the Orion name and just called it a Escort saloon. I used to have a L reg 1.8TD LX model many moons ago.

One of the main reasons for the change was to artificially boost sales figures for the Escort, as the Orion was previously treated as a separate model, thus making it Britain's best-selling car again :)

Tomorrow might see the most mental collection I think I've ever partaken in...

Coming from a member of SVM this intrigues me.

Mrs Trigger talked me into having a chat with the lady and giving her my phone number in case she wanted to sell it

Mrs Trigger sounds like quite a catch! I'd probably get steered in the opposite direction. Mind you, she is coming to Cholmondoley this weekend so I can't complain! :-)

Buses have their off days too. Stuck in a lay by just outside Sheffield waiting for a bloke with a bit of pipe.

Grrrr.

Staring at a car on eBay that I really want but probably can't afford.

4 days to go.

After my excitement of that BMW yesterday I've now found out my local scrapyard has taken this Metro GTa in.

Apparently a 1 owner from new car with very low mileage and in mint condition, it's been in its elderly owners garage unused since 2007 and now that he's died his daughter has scrapped it.

The scrapyards looking for offers around a grand and although I haven't got room for it I'm not half tempted. It needs saving.

Looks nice, and much more interesting than a BMW! Nice old Camry on the left as well that needs saving.

It's all a matter of sufficient intoxication a few minutes before the auction ends.

The Lancia came out of storage today and started 7th turn of the key, yay!

As it's not been used this year I did the important things like change the steering wheel and give it a quick wash.

I'm sure there's some mechanical stuff I should probably do before attempting to drive it 300 miles this weekend.

Got back from a "lovely" week camping with our lass and went straight to Eurocarprats for a (wrong) clutch to fit the licence loser 106. Anyway two hours into the job I had only just finished hammering a smaller socket over the locking wheel nuts before finding someone had lent my axle stands out and my jack is fucked.

Are you anywhere near me? I've got one of those braces for the engine bay to hold it all up with the gearbox off, as well as stands and a bfo jack.

Just had the garage on the phone; I'd asked them to investigate the oil leak on the Mercedes. Apparently it's leaking from the head.

Balls.

Just been to look at this Metro.

It's alright, a bit scabby along the sills and rear panel, it's been broken into and needs a steering column cowling and some paintwork to the damaged door. It starts and runs sweet, suspension needs some pumping and it needs a bloody good clean up but has potential.

I've made a offer but it's low so will have to wait and see, they have been offered silly money for it but no one has seen it yet and the yard want to keep it local so fingers crossed.

Phew! I was worried a week would go by without Trigger buying a car.

I have a problem. I probably won't end up getting it but I hope I do.

I hope you do too Trig, otherwise the usual bummage fate awaits (I'm taking about the car there).

It's like glancing at the RSPCA website and seeing a forlorn looking spaniel that needs a home. You really shouldn't, but it's done nothing wrong and just needs a nice easy life. You could provide that.

Plus, you're concerned that someone will come along and rip its stomach out to fit into a Chihuahua and that can't be allowed to happen.

Good luck, Trig.

A trip to Bristol this morning to collect a nearside rear door for the MPV. Right colour and most importantly not dented like the incumbent. 60 sheets seemed like a good price to me, particularly as the scrappy hadn't had time to strip it of window, handle, lock and electric window motor. All I had to swap over was the door card.

Stupidly I swapped them myself. I'm no Geoff Capes and I can already feel my muscles aching. I think I'll leave taking the old one to the tip until tomorrow.

In other news, legendary shiter AnthonyG is en route to collect the rest of my books.

That GTa is well worth a punt if for no other reason than the colour.  GTa because it's a carb rather than GTi which would be injected.  My brother did have one of these and he thought it was top notch, he'd love to have another.  I haven't told him about this one, I don't think it would be fair to torment him with something he'd really like at a time when he's in no position to acquire it.

The fleet is now down into single figures, for the first time in longer than I can remember.

Wuz, you not well?

(I'd have trouble getting down to double figures!)

I dare say it won't last...

Also met two more shiters today as a result of the ongoing fleet clearout.  One's made it home fine; no news from t'other as yet, although I'm keeping my fingers crossed and assuming that no news is good news - he left an hour later and had 100 more miles to do (on worse roads) so he probably isn't home yet...
