My phone didn’t go off. Has the government singled me out to die for lack of emergency broadcasts?

Many months ago I turned off "emergency alerts" in Settings. Bloody thing still went off.

Same!

Fairly sure I turned it off ages ago but it still blared at me.

Although I'm abroad, my phone is a UK number, I turned it off around 11am this morning as I didn't want this happening randomly whilst slobbering over diecast cars at a Belgian car boot sale.

It seems that it’s sent by the mobile carrier in the uk. Not to your ( or indeed my) number, but to every device in the signal area.

Yes. Either that, or the alerts are turned off in your settings.

Just watching Late Brake Show's long awaited Matra Rancho video and couldn't help noticing it alongside the Xantia estate of various shiters...

Today we went on the hovercraft. Haven't done it for about a decade mainly because it's so bloody expensive. I think the Solent is well known for being the most expensive body of water to cross whichever means you choose but the hovercraft seems especially so. I think Hovertravel consider it a premium service, being by far the fastest way to the Island but my brain just thinks of the £/minute.

It's £16 for a ten minute run. On the other hand they are the only commercially operating hovercrafts in the world (I think) and I've not done it for years so we decided to bite the bullet.

Hovercraft arriving. They need more and bigger windows in the departure lounge so crap photo.

I'm sure these are newish. I'm sure they weren't front loading last time.

Quite close to a normal ferry. We came even closer on the way back.

The hardstanding at Ryde with two of them.

The outward run was quite quiet, it was 09.30 on a Sunday, but the return this afternoon was very busy, almost full.

And one hovercraft from another.

I would recommend but not at that price, but it's ok once a decade. You can get a discount if you have a PO postcode (which covers Portsmouth and the IOW) but not that much of a discount, it would still be very expensive if you had to do it regularly.

Isn't that Vulgalour's old one? Looks like it's been off the road for almost a decade...

Finally got the TT fixed, again. The oil can light was coming on so my son dropped the sump and replaced the pick up pipe. New oil and it was fine for a few miles. Then, after testing the boost a bit the oil light came on again. This happened when it was warm. We weren't sure if it was some mastic in the pickup pipe, the oil pump or a duff sensor. We decided to replace the sensor with a new Febi item and the problem seems to have been resolved. There was some evidence of oil around the sensor electrical connection so seems it had failed.

It's a 2001 225 roadster with 80k odd miles that wasn't used for a few years. We seem to be replacing a lot of service items but hopefully we'll get there one day! It's just started making a slight clunk when engaging the next gear and under load ..

Youngest son washed, machine polished and ceramic coated it at the weekend so at least it looks good!

Oooh I know where they were filming then 😂 I sold it to the person who still has it, sadly about 6 months after that it put a rod through the block on him but is in the spares pile still!

He is on here but I can't remember his username to tag him

Am I the only one trying to identify the model of car the indicator came from 🤔

With four people heading off to work in various directions it's always a bit random as to where the cars end up when back on the driveway. It worked out nicely today with all the older things in one area, with a bit of colour co-ordination too:

Yeah I thought I was having an aneurysm when I saw it, I couldn’t believe it. I’m now on somewhat of a mission to find it myself
