but still snowing at the moment, good luck!

Reckon you’ll be ok @bramz7 as seems to be turning to rain/sleet and disappearing.

Thanks I hate it.

Not a fan of neo-brutalism* then?

*I just made this up, neo-brutalism is just what happens when you hire an architect with no imagination

The R107 was badged as a 560SL

The burd was particularly taken with this early 500, with a modern 5000 behind it🤣

Saw this abomination, and laughed at the fact the Berlingo behind has a better plate...

Lastly, some proper "fuck the aesthetic" planning decision - I reckon even @rantingYoof would struggle to justify this block of flats was in keeping with the area🤣

It blends in so well. 😬

As the slow stripdown of the part-out P38 continues, I removed the ECU and fusebox today to be greeted by this absolute abomination. What the fuck is that supposed to be about?! There goes being able to sell on the engine loom....

Just watched "Nobody". Kept me amused for a bit, but.... white 1972 Dodge Challenger in it.. Vanishing Point vibes, nearly  . BUT, they  made a couple of references to a 4.9 litre . Dodge never made a 299 cubic inch engine, smallest V8 in the Chally was a 318, or a 5.2 litre.. and that was considered a bit shit.

This film had a 16 million dollar budget. If they'd asked, for a couple if million, I could have saved every Mopar fan worldwide from choking on their Budweiser. FFS...

I've just realised I'll have been on here for a decade this March.

How the hell did that happen?

A similar thought came to me. When I used watch football as a kid in the 70s, if the commentator says something like “Chelsea haven’t won away to Aston Villa for 35 years “, I’d think , that’s before the war, ancient history. Now I think, “Oh yes, I remember watching that in 1990.”

I think whoever controls the world, is bored and has pressed fast forward.

I have been on this godforsaken site for fully one third of my life.

And elsewhere on the internet I have 18 year olds telling me what things were like "on the old internet"

Bitch I've been online longer than you've been alive.

318 was anemic with the stock 2 barrel carb, for sure. 4 barrel with tuned intake and better breathing exhaust, the decent heads and a halfway decent cam was still not a 383 but it was starting to be a spicy engine for its size and weight.

Woke up to only slightly more than a dusting of snow which is now being rained on. Media going into overdrive about it all.

Maybe they should go and visit my brother in Bergen

They had 18 inches fall Friday night into Saturday morning.

Yes the “Wall of Snow” predicted by the media seems to amount to the first layer of mortar in most places.

There’s another forum that I’ve been on since I turned 16.  I’m now 36.  20 years.  And I DO remember the early Internet as I was first online in 1995…

How about Viewdata? 1986  (OK so not, strictly speaking 'Internet' but with a smokin' 1200/75 modem we thought we ruled the world ;-) )

Did we get predictions * of a ‘wall of snow’ in the 80s/90s? Or are we being scaremongered now. I remember walking to school with many inches of snow on the ground, now it seems schools are closed with the mearest dusting ‘ for the safety of the pupils’

Several years ago , one of the buses serving our local High School crashed on an icy road along one of the valleys. No one was badly hurt but since then the Council just shuts the schools down at a hint of snow.
Seeing as everyone has a tablet and the majority can walk to the school , it wouldn’t be impossible to arrange for the kids that get the buses to log in from home, but it seems everyone prefers a day off (apart from working parents).

It's part of the feminisation of society. Every activity has a risk assessment performed by people who don't really understand what a risk assessment is.

Ah yes, the cheerful beeps and squarks of the dial-up modem connecting to AOL for 1p/minute on your phone bill. I think 92 or 93 for me.

I'm fairly sure Autoshite turns 20 at the end of this year. I think there must be less than 5 members still posting who joined before 2006. @wuvvum must be the longest serving member surely?

Planned MOT cancelled by garage due to overbooked / too busy. No cars road legal.

Next day it shows 😅

Synopsis of Minimad5 luck 🙈😅

My dad ( @Richard) would have him beat by a month, if it wasn't for the slight inconvenience of being a little bit dead.

User list with joined first at the beginning. I believe there was incarnations of the forum that were lost before this current setup started.

https://autoshite.com/search/?type=core_members&joinedDate=any&group[4]=1&group[8]=1&group[3]=1&group[9]=1&group[12]=1&group[6]=1&sortby=joined&sortdirection=asc

I joined 9 years last month for me.

The current incarnation of here is older than Twitter!

I joined 24-05-2006 after one of the founders left an Autoshite business card under the windscreen wiper of my Viva HC at a Retro Rides show

FB_IMG_1736084655726.jpg.ee3895eb678a6263031e16fdbe7a08e3.jpg

I guess we should have a 20th year celebration party in 2026, anyone good at making cakes?

Edit actually that photo is watermarked 2007 so not sure how I found this place now maybe from Retro Rides but the business card thing definitely happened.

Viva HC

A couple of years before I joined I was dead set on my first car being a Viva HC, back then you could still get a usable one for £500 if you knew where to look. Unfortunately by the time I passed my test (over a year after I joined) they'd all been squished.

Mine was a piece of shit but it looked cool and went fairly well as the previous owner had swapped a 2 litre Pinto into it.

Nowadays if I were to have another it would need to be an estate.

Where does Original Tin fit in? I have a copy of issue 2. It definitely exudes Autoshite Cinematic Universe vibes.
