Pontins Southport has bitten the dust.

Ainsdale, you mean ? It was used by Liverpool University for a while.

I don’t really recommend it. One hole was ok, I was loosing enthusiasm after 5.

You need one with a shoulder rest then. Adds the force.

C15 has been pressed into service for my daily commute this week and it actually manages to make driving to work fun. It finally stopped raining here long enough for me to stop and take some pictures.

The fair wife has broken down in the Rover 75 on the M1 in heavy traffic between 25 & 24. Autoaid have been called and charged her £25. I wonder how soon they'll get there...

I'll be looking for a replacement car as her trust in it will be gone.

What about a replacement wife, i understand you might be attached to her, but you might find one with better airbags

Hope she gets back quickly and safely ( and the wife too of course).

That'll be the first thing I'll ask her for when she eventually gets back home on this bitterly cold night...

Broke down at 16:53, finally finished reporting the breakdown to Autoaid at 17:17 and home at 19:10

Speaking of 75s, I got a couple of proper work lamps for Christmas and I changed the windscreen washer pump.

Good your better half is home safe.

Did you find out what the problem was?

Burrows recovery bloke, who's apparently owned a couple of Connies thought it was the bottom hose. He currently owns a maxi and a wolsley 2200!

Why isn't he on here? Glad she's back ok, a shade over 4 hours is pretty reasonable.

Spots of the year… so far!

Took the 940 for a nice New Years run over the Horseshoe pass and to Llangollen. At the top there were these two.

A stunning pair!

I had to stop there a few years back to compose myself after a sudden panic attack!

That was the first day of a holiday there. On the last day we stopped at the aqueduct and just 2 steps in I bottled it and immediately turned back 😆

I honestly don't know how people can do it.

It's not like it's going to fall down. How long has it been there ?

IIRC a bloke in the finance department, at the first place I worked, in the early 90s went out one early morning and threw himself over the edge. It was either there or another bridge or viaduct in the area. He was found the day after he went missing.

I never said it was going to fall down... if you're not scared of heights you wouldn't understand.

My bad. You are right, I don't. Doesn't mean it isn't a thing though.

I've experienced someone having a panic attack on top of Crib Goch. I think it was a one off because he went on to join the RAF and goes out rock climbing regularly.

Didn't suffer when I was younger but is getting worse as I get older... self preservation perhaps?

Think this is fairly common. I work with a lot of tradesmen who say the same about ladder work as they get older.

Ditto - as a teenager used to be scampering up and down the cliffs back home with never a thought of consequences.
Now I am a bit like yourself - I'd only cross that aqueduct if it was life and death.
There's a bit of self-preservation in there, maybe some maturity too but neither explain the fact that if I'm on a secure ladder about six feet off the ground (where feck all is going to happen) then I'm absolutely bricking it

My brother in law (just a lad - 59 years old) is a proper lead and slate roofer, done some big jobs in his time - he's very happy now doing ground based jobs.

When I was younger I always wanted to go up in a hot air balloon... even the sight of one now makes me shudder 😬
