The new news 24 thread

Today I gave the C30 a damn good clean and swapped the tyres front to back. It has two Yokohama BluEarths and two Aptany, all four are less than a year old. The Aptany were on the front.
The Aptany were way out of balance and the local tyre fitter told me both of the front wheels were buckled. Balancing them made no difference so I swapped the wheels back to front.
The rear wheels are still vibrating to fuck but with the Yokohamas on the front I have a shit ton more power (no grip on Aptany might have been messing with the stability control?), and much better handling.

Also, Concerto is gone. Good riddance. 93a03e345a7034cb57242a2dcf01370b.jpg76a172ae2fc4f9b6fc2c79e4fc6bdfc7.jpg5168ddedb37b8b6ffae27b85b6d48ec7.jpg6d57925db06b89a6243c4910cc8fcfb1.jpg

Quite pleased with it. All the ones I could find were either £150 or more fucked than the one I was replacing but managed to get this one off a lad on Ebay for £50 and its in great condition.

The sticky shits even been taken off the back.

With any luck there won't be another storm this weekend so I can actually fit the fucking thing.

Nothing of consequence to add except having a hatch has been very useful for clearing out the wife’s old house as it’s up for sale.

Also, French V6 power with a slightly blowy exhaust sounds lovely and is disgustingly addictive fun to floor it. I think I like it even more than the ‘Parp-Boom-Wallop’ hilarity of the Volvo 5 pot turbo.

Finally got my pile of poo RRC into my workshop. With all the crap I’ve had to deal with over the last couple of months, tomorrow will be the first day I’ll actually get time to go in and do some tidying up. Tea and shite talk is on the menu for the day. Everything else can fuck the fuck off thank you very much.

A few recent pics from Down Under. Heading back to the UK next week to see if my cars have been washed away.

I'm currently bombing around in this borrowed Holden Ute VU, with the Buick V6 engine and slushbox. Here it is parked in the 'Competition' section of the All-Holden meet pictured above. It didn't win.

Bus shite.

Tram shite, with bonus Holden Calais. I wonder why Ford didn't reply with a Ford Dover, or Skegness or something?

Final one. Smiley but sad Transit.

Breaking:

Saying Covid-19 to the tune of “Come on Eileen” makes it sound much less threatening.

Pass it on...

Dragged this out of hibernation today to make way in the garage for the Clio. Started right up. Still pissing oil out from somewhere, I think its the rocker cover gasket. I have a new one in the loft.

So, situation normal. MOT is in a couple of months, could probably do with 2 new bottom arms as they are rusty and a small patch on the strut tower.

Now that it is out I'll probably have it done.

This is absolutely smashing - completely period correct. Just needs a bit of council called Tonya lathering up the bonnet and her babylons whilst wearing ill-fitting swimwear for the full flavour.

I have not used the Mx5 for a few weeks, I  just tried to start it. It turned over a couple of times and did a big backfire. It did turn over a few times after that, but the battery then died. I will put it on charge, if I can remember where the charger is. It's a good job I wasn't actually needing to go anywhere in it

ECP spanners have arrived. Seem ok. Proof is in the using of course.

Nah, believe it or not it's going to live on, it's going to the guy that has my old 416GTI. He's going to replace the engine if it can't be fixed.

Just got an email from eurocraparts saying they have run out and are refunding me for the set I'd ordered up.

Mine doesn't appear on orders, but arrived today via post man.

The case is shite, but the spanners seem OK.

20200307_160427.thumb.jpg.dadcec1f00add536429f89f65342cee9.jpgGrotty strut tower on the Corsa. The hole on the left is an empty bolt hole where the ABS pump bolts to on posher models. Its the bit on the right I'm concerned with as has gone through. However it's a double skinned area and there is a strengthening plate behind which might explain why it has passed several MOTs like this.

I'm going to ask my garage to sort it properly this year before it spreads any further.

I was following this beauty on the M1 earlier, think it's the first time I've seen a DeLorean in the metal

Kv6 Sterling has been recovered home. Damn thing has been sat for about 2 years or thereabouts. A battery, some fresh petrol and some air in the tyres saw it start up and be recovered home successfully.

They're minis, and much better cars than the clattering rusty old shite from forty years ago.

The prince engine you are describing went in the MK2 Bini and that was from around 2006.

It's a glorious day, so I fully expect a thread full of people interfering with and enjoying their shite old cars today.  Hoping to get both the Sierra and Mini out today for a good old shake down.  Need to make a plan to reinstate heating to the Sierra, replace the leaky hose, price up a clutch and get it ready to go on front line duty from April.

My beloved BMW E46 touring is not very well, if I can't get it running  I'll have to do a buy. It depends on how I do today. Problem is I rely on it for my income so I need something big this week so if it goes in to a garage and has to wait then I definitely have to do a buy. It would be my first since being on Autoshite, so the important first question is, obviously, where is the best place to post a collection caper? Is it best to start as a new thread?

New thread in the main Autoshite forum is best :)
