Fail sheet didn't seem to bad, what was the bill from the garage like, my Audi is probably gonna be needing similar things doing

I'm starting to panic that a 21 year old 150k 206 might not be the best car to drive to the south of france filled with family members, and looking at buying a sensible alternative.

But I literally cannot see any cars for sale.

I was bidding on a 406 earlier, had my bid cancelled as the item is no longer available.

I probably want a 306/406/806/berlingo 2.0hdi, mebbes an estate.  Ideally I'd like one that isn't already shagged though, and it almost looks like I can't do that for a grand.

Think the dizzler Borat will be needing new brake pads all round before long.

This is the scuttle of my work van. I'm a postman as you can probably guess by the colour.

The moss has been there ages but closer inspection shows we are now growing actual plants.

This is genuine carbon offsetting isn't it?

I thought that only happens on cars which have been having a good long rest, but to see it on a van that runs daily is a first ?

NX have decreed that all the coaches will now have the front seats set in the wheelchair position, making life easier for us as won't have to faff about changing the seats round. Book time to do it is 15 minutes, but that's done on a brand new coach with no siezed bolts, clean runners etc.

It's an exhibit at next years Chelsea Flower Show, complete with Royal Mail elastic band!

Staying in the AS fold though...

Surely not?

I would be open to other things, as long as they don't rot horribly and have nice steering and a comfortable ride.

I'm not touching that band, the moss has claimed it.

My path is full of those elastic bands.

If it's the large bands I'd pick them up and keep them, they're high quality bands, almost impossible to break and will stretch enough to band two big Amazon boxes together.

On a more serious note, it annoys me when other postmen throw them away too. My day off cover bloke does it. When I come back from a day off I usually end up picking up at least ten of them. It's really not hard to put them in your pocket, bag or on your wrist. And if you throw them away then you have to go and find more the next day making more work for yourself, it makes no sense. But then Royal Mail have a habit of employing people who would be unemployable in the real world. Probably less so now we're supposed to be a proper business but in the old days we were like a care in the community offshoot.

I think part of the Jag's idling issues may have stemmed from the fact the carpet and floor mat was jamming the throttle, along with the extra carpet and underlay (?!) on top of it.
Also, the lower mats were ridiculously damp, presumably the carpet wasn't letting it air properly. It explains why the car gets so damp inside, as I don't think it's leaking from anywhere. It's not the windscreen anyway.

I've been thinking a bit lately too about how it fits into my life, and if all goes to plan, in summer I might see about trading it for something else.
Something equal parts stupid and sensible, a modern classic and a touring car legend...

This has turned up at my local house clearance auction.  I never knew that I wanted a starlet,  but I do now.

Potbury's?

Those foam rubber things(I assume for noise attenuation?) seem to deteriorate into hydroponic growth media quite swiftly, the ones on the electroshite have done the same so I'm pondering a one way trip to the bin, especially as there's no noisy dizzle to make noise needing attenuating.

I've had the BX for a year now... well, a year and one month.  That time has flown.

In a few days, I'll've owned the Princess for 8 years.

You could say I've had plenty of ups and downs with the two of them.  #dadjokes #blame@MikeKnight

I hate potholes.

Quite an impressive tear in the sidewall, fortunately was only doing 20 at the time. Ordered up for delivery and fitting tomorrow at costco.

In more positive news, acquired these from the top shelf of the motorfactors to be donated to the rear of the Sierra Base.

Thank goodness for full-size spares with your pothole mishap.  Can of goo wouldn't have helped you at all with that.

People see my Mazda, assume it is giffer driven and therefore fair game....as is often the case it's not how fast you're going, more about what assumptions people make...

Aye, people used to make that mistake with the Rover of Doom...
