Are you coming to Shitefest?  Are you bringing the Jag?  Can I have a go please?

I shall do the research and see if I can make it. If I'm there - it'll be in the jaaaaag - and you're more than welcome to have a blast.

C15 clutch gone.

Or more accurately, the release bearing seems to have broken up.

Old cars eh?

Bridge or repair............it's a tough one.

I might be making this up, but did I not see one of yours parked there once?

Yes. It’s a private road and I have permission from the land owner to park there (along with a shared responsibility for upkeep and maintenance of said road)

A day of miserable weather means I've not been able to do any car fettling, however I found this at work recently and got it home today. Works.

So I decided I'd continue sorting out my Man room of much manly masculinity.

After dinner I started on the desk. Still the Atari to fix up, and I know an LCD telly is a bit incongruous.

It's a 1979 2/722F Trimphone. I plan on giving it a good old cleanup and restoration later this year to celebrate its 40th birthday. I'm hoping retrobrite works on the plastic. I need a new volume switch to reinstate the ringer - the rest of the gubbins is there.

20 quid side skirts from a ford focus, buyer wants me to do a 40 mile round trip.. said umm no..

Hi,

I note that you want cash on collection, can you please forward me collection details?

Is there any chance you would be prepared to meet me at the Roadchef on the M20 Junction 8?

Regards

Meh, sometimes something like that is worth an ask, if it'd save two hours driving and £30 and you might happen to be going that way anyway. The question is does he still want them, or is he JUST a chancrr

The Audi 80 goes in to my usual garage to have all it's belts and tensioners replaced tomorrow.

Hopefully I ordered the correct parts!

The old fleet stalwarts back together for the first time in 6 months.

As usual, the Metro runs like shit for the 10 miles or so after the winter slumber, but is then back on song.  Should probably get four new tyres for it though, but I've been saying that for the last three years.  Money innit.

I'll be driving the Cavalier to Geneva in a couple of weeks time to visit the OH's family.  We keep saying we'll do it rather than fly (like BA Baracus I hate flying, and Geneva airport is a ball sack of a place best avoided), so it's about time we did.  I'm sure it'll be fine.  Worst case I've got spares and will take the trolley jack, tools etc.  Plus brother-in-law is fluent so I'm sure he'll help us out if need be.

The cameras are essentially pornography.  Lovely.

The 2003 Honda Accord bought for £notmuch on here last year has recently been pressed into daily service. It was bought as an MOT failure with leaky front suspension strut and no rear brake/tail lights. EML on and a misfire soon followed. All sorted over a week or so of happy tinkering and MOT achieved. Parked up and not used since last November as not needed. Circumstances recently changed, the Saab was sold and the Chevrolet Tacuma shat it's head gasket so it was needed for the daily grind. Checked everything over and put the car into service.

The Accord was booked into Blackpool Honda on Monday for a recall on the passenger airbag inflator, all done FOC of course but 'It will be another hour or so as we do a free car health check sir'. So Honda touting for work then, understand that, fair enough.

Expected a massive list of stuff that needed* doing and waited in reception drinking free coffee.

The result?

Cracked O/S indicator repeater. (Incorporated in door mirror)

Squeak (although it was written as sqeek) from auxiliary drive belt area.

Just shy of £280 quote.

Declined the repair and all done myself for £45.

Impressive that a 180,000 mile 16 year old Honda could escape a main dealership with so few 'recommendations'* for work needed.

I think Egg does, if his piecing together of his Invacar Mk12 is anything to go by

Just had a very nice e type wheeled past outside too - reg HER500 (but mothistory check says it's a 1970 fiat 500!). Is it the early first series 1's that had no external bonnet catches?

I felt like that last time I went.

I can see no good reason to visit.

The cameras are essentially pornography.  Lovely.

The Canon SLRs from L to R - AL-1, AE-1 Program, AV-1, AE-1, TX, EF & FX, all with a 50mm f1.4 or 1.8 lens.

The others are Canon EOS 620, Petri 7 Green-o-matic, Rolleicord 1a (1938) and Box Brownie 620D.

Apart from the AE-1P, they all work nicely. The TX and the Petri both have film in, so I had better get snapping!

542XUU has just been pushed inside too - looks like a c type to me -  just listed as a jag on mot site with 40 miles covered since 2006!

A board member has instructed their bank to reclaim a roffle PP payment made to me in February, on the grounds that it wasn't an authorised payment.

This is something that anyone running or planning on running similar should be aware of.

I've PMd the party with a request for an explanation.

This is why we can't have nice things. Because folk ruin them.

After seeing this latest trick (which may yet turn out to be an honest mistake) I will no longer be offering a failback option of PayPal for any future L1 roffles..
