More like news 36 as I had a double collection on Friday. First one started at 04.45   Yes quarter to 5 in the morning!! It was only an hour and 15 minutes away tae but the fact I was on nightshift sort of contributed.

Got a lift down to meet Split-Pin from work, possibly get him out of his bed. After spotting his 75 for sale on here and it being pretty much what I'd been looking for it seemed a good idea. turned out it was and car although not perfect is a really nice example of the 75's comfortable attitude!!

Not much happening in Perth at 5 am.

Safely under cover, hopefully it won't just remain there!!

Second collection revolved around work hours but not mine this time the guy selling! Collecting this for a mate who is on here but never seen him post. He wired me the money and I made the bank just in time for 5 pm shutting. This one was only 30 minutes away but not taxed :?

Another bloody 75!! Super low spec for extra shiteness! Lovely colour though!

Letting it sit for a couple of days before squeezing it back into the car. Wonder if it will hold its charge....?

If it's taken that long to charge, it has a chance of still working. All those electrons forced in there must have gone somewhere! Unless as heat and gas. How much electrolyte was lost?

Not much. There was a bit of spatter from the bubbling on charge, but nothing else.

Meg the Visa has has a FTP.

I've left it at the side of the road and walked to the station. Will collect it tonight.

I forgot to take a photo so if anyone sees it feel free to take one.

I'm a fat git and it's bloody hot, so I could only manage about 3 hours on Saturday and half of that time I couldn't see because sweat was pouring over my glasses.  Got about two hours in yesterday but Lady Grumpius has an old Uni friend visiting and I had to be sociable.

Looks tidy and under control. I tend to start things and finish years later, if at all. Good effort mate.

As per 'What have you fixed lately'

Changed the gearbox oil in the Mazda. Waste of time trying to check level on the speedo drive as per the manual, the min and max lines are 2mm apart! Shifts a lot more smoothly now which is awesome. I can't say repaired, more like bodged, but stopped an exhaust blow, ticks over so much more smoothly. Going to try for another 12month ticket, booked in at the MOT station tomorrow. If all is good a might put a little bit aside here and there until I save up for a new downpipe. She owes me some miles first.

Just checked my recovery and they allow 6 call outs in the year. The car is only a couple of miles away from home (if that) so am going to see if I can convince someone to drag it up the hill for me (or allow me to drag them in it), rather than waste a call out that I might need.

I didn't need any at all last year but sods law is that I would be rueing using them on this in 9 months time as I am sat at the side of the road in Wales or something with a puddle of  coolant flowing down the road away from my car.

Need to collect a car from near Nottingham - trying to work out public transport from Aylesbury to Nottingham. NOPE. Nothing connects, and it's fucking expensive!

These are from an Omega/Carlton saloon circa 1988 that my cousin has laying about in his yard.

Car has a slight rake to it now,but they seem to be doing the job just fine.

Will see the next time I load it up with autojumble tat!!

Could fit bigger wheels at the rear now!

But seeing as the 1256cc pushrod lump has enough trouble pushing what it already has along,I'll leave well enough alone.

You have to paint the differential red oxide and stick a fog light under it.

I've got the week off but it's too bastard hot to do anything again.  I'm seriously considering getting up at 4am tomorrow to get a few hours in.

Lidl this afternoon. The MGB had a FTP, thought initially it was lack of fuel as the gauge is inaccurate and it was low. Quick look under bonnet and no fuel in the filter. Fuck, fuck fuck. Walked home (a mile) got the petrol can which had some in and jumped on Mrs BMHs push bike (she was out). Pour the half can of fuel in, crank over, no fuel. Remove fuel pump cover, hit with spanner try again. Fuck all.

Thought, air lock or crud. So I blew into the tank and petrol poured out of the side. Fuel line has perished. Shorten, refit, yipee. Quick look at rest and they have all gone again. Looks like it's an annual job now.

Bugger. That sucks. What fuel line did you use?

Mine is supposed ethanol resistant stuff when I renewed all my lines. Bought it from Moss.

My usual local car spares. Supposed to be the decent stuff.

Certainly worth checking them regularly, even asked sister/bil to check their Amazon just in case.

Theres a load of bad fuel line around lately. Seems to perish internally leaving the outer sheathing looking OK.

Only lasted a matter of months on a friends VW camper.

Posted

More MG wows, mine did not have quite enough electricity in the battery after being in store 8 months to start without a jump.

Then 6 miles home with no issues, and it felt good even if it is a worn out old thing.

Now it is going in the my garage for a check over and clean.

That is a lovely old thing, without the sunroof it'd be ideal.
