Very quite outside tonight. Is something going on that I don't know* about?

Nothing important that I know* of.

So, the Fusion will be leaving next week for a new life in St Ives on a very different part of coastline. At 3 years, 9 months it's the car I've owned 2nd longest ever, and also the only car that I bought for more than £1k (I won't be making that mistake again!). Overall it has always had niggles, and I have never enjoyed owning it. I will not miss it.

22-23k miles in that time (117k total)

However, it doesn't really have any rust, cambelt was less than four years ago, Clutch this year. It should soldier on for a couple more years.

Took 5 batteries to scrapyard yesterday, but I was turned away since i didn't  have a driving licence ID with me .

So I said  I hadn't got a licence, as I can't drive... :-(

Yes you can,  I saw you drive in... :-)

A passport will do too ..

I've not got a passport ... :-(

Look . Can't I just swap my batteries for some of your brass billets for my lathe ?

No.. need your licence

Went back today with licence ..

I've passed my test  now , here's my I,D.!

Got a £55 bacs payment for them  :-D  :-D

In this peace and quiet I've made a lot of noise while fitting a decent lock on the garage.

Looks decent but my problem with those sort of locks is they are very visible......on the one hand it's a deterrent, on the other it says "hey over here, something worth stealing"

There were a few spates of garage thefts I'd heard of where van load of scummy types reverse up to garage door, cordless grinder to cut around locks and peel back the thin metal.

In and out in no time.

My da threw some angle iron up at the sides of his garage door (on the inside), welded some plates to the back of the door itself to which he mounted substantial bar locks which slide into holes in the angle iron.

Should certainly keep his washing machine, wood offcuts, out of date paint in and collection of old rusty bolts safe....

If you knew someone with a welder.....

That was something I was debating if it does shout that there maybe something to steal. However the neighbour has one fitted on their garage and he's never had any problems. Plus he has a motorbike in there, which seem to be the number one thing to be nicked. There is usually a car always on the drive though which blocks the view of that lock.

Have had a knackering but awesome day that has included driving five cars, one trike and meeting an old friend. Post-caper report is going to have to wait!

TT is in for an MOT tomorrow. Not been nervous for an MOT for a while. Hoping (optimistically) it will go through without too much trouble. Any extra expenditure will mean less funds for the 1100 and MGB GT.

Replaced The Aero's pollen filter today. After only two years, the existing one was chock-full of leaves and nastiness:

What a dirty world we live in.

Screwfix but you can get it cheaper from Amazon and other places online. You'll need a 10mm and 16mm drill bit.a Possibly an SDS drill if the concrete is particularly hard.

These are the destructions.

I have read advice online to take the end caps and fill the tube bit with expanding foam. Bit of a weak point as someone can put a long bar in and leaver it off.

I found a nice series of holes in and  behind the rear of the garage door and frame , drilling of a hole in the brick work and the insertion of a steel rod effectively jammed the door shut , with access to the garage being via the very enclosed back garden ......

and you say

some one only has to get in the garden and ....

so a big bolt is on the front of the door in front of the CCTV camera , and the dogs sleeping nearby ................

The passat passed its MOT without even an advisory. Old cars are not always a pain in the arse.

To Dave numbers. What is the explanation of 6.1.1.g.1? I can't work it out.

a modification to the chassis means it cant be fully inspected. This flags up for welded repairs as arse-covering, meaning they have no way to inspect the quality of welding, and in this case I did the entire chassis in a coat of satin paint black too. They arent allowed to scrape the paint off to see whats underneath.

I picked one up for the audi as the official tyre goo went out of date in 2002 :(

Got some beers while I was in there :)

Fleet logistics this evening, which started with this lot.

I took the Rover to my rented lock up and did the swap with the Metro. My very brief prep for the FOTU involved filling the Metro with pez (treated it to some super unleaded) and a 20 minute wipe down and window clean.

I then evicted the ZX from my garage at home to make way for champagne beige loveliness.

Pay day tomorrow, so I also took the Merc for a spin and some pez as it was on vapours. The low coolant warning flashed up. Oh here we go, the honeymoon period is over! Hope it's nowt serious...

I got one of these at a car boot sale on Sunday for £4. Any one want it?

Nearly 4 years ago I parked this up.

It has been pissing me off a little bit recently, so today I have moved it out of its storage with the intention to get it back on the road within the next month.

Really looking forward to it now it's out in daylight...some light recommissioning required so some updates to follow...

Popped over to see Stu's mate this morning to pick up a new 'sail' and power steering switch for the Base Mondy. Had another quick perv at his Citrine while I was there :-)

My offer of the full asking price of £1,150 for it, KAN KOLLECT THIS WKEND etc from 4 years ago still stands ;)

Ha. Unfortunately it is highly likely I will never advertise this for sale again and if it was to be advertised it would be nowhere near that price now!

In other news, it is now running and has been for a quick run around the block. Might be easier and quicker than anticipated this one.
