A 20?! Finding one of them would be a definite stop the car (having turned around if need be) and get out job for me in France. On a longish journey I'll sometimes forego lesser spots in the hope of stumbling across something like that.

Normally I would too, but Mrs T was wanting lunch and being her birthday I thought it best to press on!

Doesn't mention how large the zone is.

Look at the City Cooncil website: proposal is west/north side is M8. Southern along the Broomielaw and east I think is through Tollcross up to Infirmary.

Plus my Honda Jizz is Euro 4 anyway and it'll be well shite by the time it commences.

Funnily enough, not one of my 7 fleet members meets the emissions criteria.

Guess I'll get the train in, get drunk and enjoy myself

Nottingham seem to have it right - their initial proposal is to tax lorries, buses, vans, taxis, essentially everything diesel before they start going after Joe Public and his pre EU6 petrol car https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/new-clean-air-zone-nottingham-1340366

Nottingham City Transport are already way ahead, and taking delivery of bio fuel buses, not sure what the other operators (esp Trent Barton) are doing, mind. https://www.nctx.co.uk/about-us/gasbus/

I remember just after London brought in conjestion charging they went to bring it in Edinburgh . It was controversial so it went to a public vote and the public told them in no uncertain terms to fuck off and that was that .

Not sure where to ask this really, but my wife seems settled on a Ford Fusion (yeah, I know) for parental transport duties. Only problems is it's in Bridgewater, Somerset. Anyone know the garage, Warwick Service Station in Pawlett (A38)?

I think that's in panhards neck of the woods.

Trent are in the shite anyway as some sort of law is being put in place in the near future in and around derby. The wife is a bus driver for yourbus and they have just bought in a brand new fleet of buses and the 63 plate merc citaros are being sold off. Majority of Trent buses are mid to late 2000s buses but there is a few early 2000s still doing the rounds. Trent keep bumping prices up to stay afloat and yet still cutting services. Yourbus keeps the prices low and have had to buy in more buses for more routes they are taking over. Arriva in derby still have some early to mid 90s rattle traps and are cutting services all over as can't make ends meet anymore. They were purchased by a German group not too long back and the word is they are being sold off again sometime soon and yourbus are in talks about buying them out.

Why would you want to drive into a city centre anyway?

Its not like you'll get very far or be able to go very fast, short of salt marshes a city centre has got to be the worst place to drive.

And thats before we mention air pollution.

Or are you going to tell me that car exhaust gases are perfectly fine?

That's the way it starts, next time you want a job done all the trades will have put there day rates up to pay for a new transit to replace the perfectly good one they had.

Quite knackered after a full day driving Mazdas at Silverstone, then a four hour drive home in 2CV. Got so bloody cold on the way back that I had to close the roof! What happened to summer? It was still sunny when I left Northants!

Manchester also got given a c-charge vote.

We voted no.

The money that would have been spent on it instead got used to turn the city's trams into a life size trainset for Transport for Greater Manchester. It's more expensive than buses, and as it was seemingly use it or lose it, it only serves areas they could slap a line without too much objection from locals etc.

In other words, shitholes. Antisocial behaviour is an issue.

Cycling in the city can be dicey with all the rails embedded in the street (especially on wet days). I had a Worst Bus driver pull out on me without indicating while I was riding up a railed street today. Had to dive onto the wrong side of the road to stay the right way up.

I checked my tyre pressures today. They were all correct.

However, yesterday I did a 'factory reset' on the gearbox (really easy!) and it has actually changed the way the gearbox responds! I am amazed something that costs nothing doing what it's supposed to do!:)

I am off to see the Levellers at the Boston Gliderdrome tonight.

I have never been to a gig before so I am in equal parts anxious and excited.

It certainly is but I am in France at the moment. Bridgewater is nice enough but they are a bit special there.

Thanks chaps. We've bought a local one, high mileage but otherwise seemed okay.

Will be putting an ad up over weekend for her old Megane if anyone is interested.

Saw a lovely Volvo 240 the other day down in Folkestone and saw it again this evening, except the owner was nearby. Asked him about the car and we chatted for about 5 minutes about why he loved it and uses it as his work vehicle for painting and decorating. Prefers it to a van because the ladders are easier to access! He didn’t know about the legendary Volvo scrapyard.

Made my evening. My Mum has an identical one when I was about 8 and it brought it flooding back. Same year of manufacture, too.

On one hand the Acclaim returned 42mpg on my trip to Shitefest and back, on the other hand it is now showing signs of OMGHGF and big end knock.

Made this metal rose for mrs fps mum, she liked the one I made for mrs fp and wanted one so i knocked one up to give her on Friday to cheer her up as its the anniversary of her mum passing away, I did this one a little different and painted it im putting it in a small pot, not bad for a bit of scrap I had lying around, the stem is painted ford Pacific green and the flower head is ford radiant red

attachicon.gif20180612_212106.jpg

The stem looks straight but it isn't it has a couple of bends in it to look a little more natural but the perspective of the picture doesn't show it

Gave this to her earlier and she was over the moon she couldnt believe id made it for her, this is it in its pot

Civic is back out in the fresh air. Even though it was in a garage, somehow it got covered in the sandy dust that is heavily around at the moment. Possibly not a bad thing for a garage though, as I guess it means there is plenty of airflow?

Will be sad to see this go. Funny getting back into it. Has a distinct soft, familiar smell to the interior. Off to my in-laws, so it's not like I won't see it again though.

MGB is up in the garage now. Some young kids hanging off a fence by a house shouted over that they really loved my car. Kinda made my evening a bit.

Gave it a good blast too. It does go around corners pretty well. Much better than I expected. You do have to manhandle it around and the seats obviously don't keep you cuddled in anywhere near like a modern car. Something unusual happened and I actually wanted to go for a bit longer journey. However I had to keep it short as I needed to get the Civic cleaned up ready for delivery tomorrow.

Definitely want to go out for a blast again in the next couple of days. I think the best time for me to go is in the evening when the roads are quieter. Plus I'm not in a rush or need to be back anytime soon. This give me 60% less anxiety and worry that it'll conk out, as if it does, I won't be massively inconvicenced by it.

I fear about it cutting out and not restarting especially. But that's all unfounded worry, as it happily sat there idling for a couple of minutes while I sorted the garage door lock out.
