We’ve got more to lose having previously suffered at the hands of Panda.

I’m in the Scirocco roffle too - thankfully no crossover

I applied for that job in Oban today, not sure I want to move for the same money & higher living costs but I know I don't want to be here.

Can't both are NHS jobs so banded & I'm already top of the band so can't inflate it.

What’s the higher living cost versus where you live at the moment?

Housing & shopping. It's in the Highlands & just doing a weekly shop costs more up there.

Not asking for docs is asking for trouble for a UK-based supplier. (Even if you pretend you're not UK-based)

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/merseyside-businessman-andrew-shaw-spared-7004740

Making reproduction dealer plates is also problematic for a UK-based supplier. (Even if they aren't falling foul of number plate supply laws, then they could come unstuck for trademark infringement)

This bloke was done twice.

Overseas suppliers can (more or less) do what they like and send them in.

End users rarely have problems with number plates unless they are taking the piss.

I don't particularly agree with the law, but it is what it is.

same guy done twice, went the extra mile to avoid getting caught the 2nd time, suspended sentence. I'd say he was lucky.

Where do you live at the moment? I’m not sure the weekly shop part holds true

Just been and moved the Jeep - not been started in 8 weeks and fired up first time!  No jump pack, nuffin! Turned it round and moved it as close to the wall as possible - this required a 400 point turn and is still 4 feet away... I just couldn;'t be arsed to try any more! I 'think' there is now room to get the Betty Fiesta in the garage as well as the Jeep?

I'd use it but I am now lumbered with that sodding Astra estate and as it's on the road, needs to be insured so I can't transfer it. Arse.

Still shouldn't complain as the Astra bailed me out of the shit big time, so I am an ungrateful wretch and I apologise :(

Could ask for R&R though, to allow them to near market rates.

Doncaster.

It does as not many of the small towns have big supermarkets, just smaller branches that charge crazy 'tesco local' type prices. My lass lives on an Island that has two co-ops, people still take the £27 return (car & driver) ferry to the mainland to do a monthly shop as it works out cheaper.

Posted

it's Oban though not some remote island 70 miles of the coast of Auchternowhere. Oban has a decent sized Tesco, who's prices will be the same as any other Tesco in Scotland.

i think it might even have a lidl!

As for property it might be more expensive than Doncaster but it'll be the same as most of the rest of Scotland. My sister recently moved to Dunoon and it was super cheap.

I though the salary banding went between NHS board? Is the banding not potentially different for Argyll and Bute?

The salary is about £300 higher per year as the Scottish bands are a fraction different, so not enough to notice.

As to tesco, tbh I hadn't checked I'd just assumed. A Lidl would be good, I'll have to look. None of this matters if I don't get the job anyway, it closes friday so won't even hear about interviews for a bit.

170 miles in the 2CV today. Feels quite perky after the Dacia. Maybe just because it's more rev happy.

On the downside, I forgot that the petrol tank leaks when full, and one mirror kept on getting blown onwards at motorway speeds. Also, traffic. Too much of it after recent adventures!

I can already haz Saab, it's Swedish enough to not get attacked by the yokels. Besides those wheels look shit & my feet don't fit on the pedals in those with cutting bits off the dash & my feet aren't even that big!

NEW CAR is not a bad steed at all.

Small person isn't sure about the lack of PAS for his driving lessons... he's also struggling to reach the pedals a bit.

I have reattached the chrome* trim on the bootlid which improves matters a great deal; I am currently sat in my front room listening to it sizzle gently in the rain.c362512b4ecbceccb98f8df8d74a041a.jpgddd9b2f759b429eb95b5fc888392eac8.jpg1e433e9bae3b889c9545a7989c87b039.jpg

Resettlement & relocation? It says it's possible in the description so if it gets to interview I will be asking.

It was Mrs T's birthday today, and she fancied going to France for the day. So off we went, tunnel this time.

After a nice lunch in Le Touquet we strolled and I did some spotting (although this 20 was a lazy sat in car spot).

The Clio has lived up to its Frenchness and the driver's window no longer works. Trouble is it stopped working whilst in the fully down position...good job this only happened later in the day and the weather remained lovely!

Currently sat on the shuttle waiting for the off.

No photos (yet) but it’s been nice outside work today with the stock from Bonham’s recent Aston Martin sale outside, DB4 and 5s, Volantes and the prototype DBS v8. Plus a couple of s1 e types, what looks like a Docker Daimler, pre war Bentley and a beautiful 1950s Alfa Romeo. Plus! A 2door Bentley Continental, pre war MG, three XK120s and an odd wire frame that looked like a 250gto shape.

The four mclaren f1s were a bit dull in comparison!

It’s a good thing I wasn’t too busy today as I must have spent an hour drooling over the window.

The P could well have been parking assist,

Recruitment and retention; up to 30% above banding to be competitive for a role which pays more outside the NHS.

You're not supposed to know it exists, probably, but everyone I know in IT does..

Took delivery of an excellent replacement steering wheel and centre console lid for The Volvo today, which had been liberated from a scrapped low mileage 940 saloon by JoeyEunos of this parish, solving a couple of cosmetic issues (no paint on the 'VOLVO' emblem on the existing one's centre pad and the existing centre console lid (from a 960) not being the correct style or colour) and allowing the horn to work properly:

They cleaned up brilliantly and now take pride of place in the car, as swapping everything over only took ten minutes in total. Very nice  8)

Shetland actually. Does Orkney have a Twatt to?

They look mint!

The console lid is very slightly worn at the leading edge (TADTS, and what caused me to junk the car's original one in favour of the 960 one in 2004), but you have to look very closely indeed to see the wear. However, the steering wheel is practically like a new car's and has none of the sun fade that old foam steering wheels tend to suffer from. I imagine that the donor car was garaged for much of its life.
