Bargain! I'm paying over £300 per month for a 4 bed. Although I have three children at the local school so I get my moneys worth.

Dafuq?

My BTL (one bed flat worth about £1.50) is more than that! Although water is included in Scotland

Band A in Doncaster so about £1100 minus 25% single person discount (never worked out why that's not 50%). Water is about £18 on top.

After 9 months of dwindling mental health today I finally got a grip of what was going on.

I’m back to Autoshite now and have a photo of me telling the world that I’m in control, with my E34 in the background. Best thing I have done this year was get this on the road.

Glad youre doing better man. That E34 looks hard as german cheese.

£133 a month, band B, Ashford Borough Council.  Large 1-bedroom house (converted stables).

Buying a house.  That'll be about the same in Dover.

£825 a month rent, £162 a month council tax. 2 bed terrace...

I guarantee your mental health would improve if only you would wear a tie with the suit. It's a cert.

Either that or you'll look like you are on the way to court.

Also Shave the beard off. YOU'LL be positively sane after that.

Oh fuck off Mark. Your looked a scruff when you got that Omega off me after you had been at work you patronising Cunt! Haha :)

I'll take it. But IF I wore a suit there would be a tie. It would be gravy encrusted obviously.

1989 to 1998 Wore a Suit and Tie and carried a briefcase to work.

1998 was introduced to the corporate polo shirt with my name on, and cheap trousers from Matalan, and eventually chinos.

Only wore suit and tie for interviews.

2009 started wearing Black 501's and a Debenhams shirt with Weirdfish jumpers to work and carry my lunch in a rucksack. Really Need to buy steel toe cap doc martin shoes to complete the "look"

My current personal dress code is WEAR CLOTHES !!!!

Cheers Ben. 318i still continuing to do sterling service too, it’s taken over the 523i as daily of choice really. Couple of minor hiccups but not a bad steer!

To be fair mate it was a rare day for a suit! Generally jeans and a shirt, I find a tie strangles me these days. However, just for you I will wear one tomorrow :D

Edit - TODAY! I must sleep ....

Looking on Cazana it seems most of the Prelude's previous owners (I think it's 3 but I've no V5 yet) have been in the last few years. Cazana thinks it was on Gumtree for £1150 three years ago, and up for £2495 in a dealer last year. When I rocked up to the backstreet dealer in Blackburn to buy it, it had £2295 as a screen price, on questioning that I was told to disregard it (was on Auto Trader for £1500 and had been for a while IIRC). Not sure what was going on there, but they wouldn't move far south of £1500 (I paid £1400) so maybe it was a pain to move as a relative rarity in an 'undesirable' spec being a 2.0i auto - most Preludes I see for sale have 17" wheels, or they're rotten, manual, etc.

Mine's a nice colour with dealer accessory wheels and a boot spoiler, and you wouldn't find a cleaner one at my price point.

I've also noticed that 1994 cars have a different seat fabric pattern that's not as nice (the seats in mine are pretty much plain grey, very subtle), a bloated airbag steering wheel instead of the nice concave one with four(!) horn buttons, an ungainly passenger airbag lump on the dash that ruins the sweeping design, and the dash end tweeter pods are finished differently (and perhaps not even tweeters).

The centre console between the rear seats was deleted too. I'm glad I've an earlier car as the glovebox is very much a token effort, and the centre console is bloody useful and suprisingly nicely placed, as well as being a great place for CDs.

You got a thread on the Prelude, Max? I do like that generation and might have missed it on all of my scrolling.

Not started one yet but I'm thinking of writing a bit of a review as I've a fair bit of experience with Hondas in general as well as Preludes. Not much point in a project thread though as it's bob on, mega clean.

£96.00 a month council tax here with Mid Suffolk D.C. One bedroom cottage, single person occupancy. I thought it was expensive! (To get the bin emptied) but looking at the other charges listed here it seems to be a bargain!

That looks fantastic. Couldn't tell you the last time I seen a standard one either.

I had that engine (I think it's the same lump?) in a Ronda 620 ages ago. Bullet proof.

The vti manuals are what people seem to *think* they want but I think you have the perfect grand tourer spec there.

Get a thread up.

I always have a look at the brakes before an MOT but its easy to let things slip on pre 1960's stuff. This was what greeted me on my Morris Commercial when I checked it over on Wednesday - the lining fell onto the floor. A brake specialist company bonded new linings on 3 years ago but whatever they're using for glue isn't very effective. I used to like bonded linings but I've gone right off them and have put some part worn rivetted shoes back in. Despite its age the vehicle pulls up well, wish I'd never changed them in the first place.

The Jag goes in for its Rego inspection (MOT) om Monday. I see no reason for it to not pass, but who knows. Its been driven more in the last year than in the last 10 combined!

Off in a minute to collect a Citroen Xm from Dorset. Going down with my daughter for a little roadtrip, should be a fun day out.

Council tax pays for a lot more than bin people.

Except you wouldn’t think it looking at the state of some towns and cities

Would love to see where the funding for the Police and Crime Commissioner’s office actually goes given the state of policing also.

Yesterday after work I treated the Jag to a Tesco Value car wash, and then a 3-minute blast with the jet wash to get rid of all the bird shite Tesco had been unable to shift (to be fair I think the birds had been nomming Gorilla Glue).

It came up quite well I think.

It's not a bad old thing as accidental eBay purchases go.  It has a few issues, chief among which are an occasional slight missfire when warm (I reckon a coil pack is probably on its way out) and the central locking has been disabled as it was draining the battery.  Also I haven't been able to get the cruise control to work.  It drives nicely though, it's comfy, the stereo is decent, the heater works and according to the computer it averaged 35.5mpg on the run back to Norwich, which isn't bad for a 3-litre V6 barge and is in fact almost double what my last Jag managed on the run home (although to be fair that did have double the cylinders).  It's got plenty of poke when needed too.  The fuel economy does drop like a stone when driving in city traffic though, but you'd expect that.  Mileage is fairly low for its age - it rolled over 94K on the drive home.

I'm not sure what to do with it yet - it's got plenty of test so I might use it for a couple of months and then punt it on.  I got it cheap enough that even I should struggle to lose money on it (that's jinxed it now).

that came up nice.............I reckon they are a lovely old cruiser. Mind you I would say that as I've got one too!

on that misfire it is well worth changing the plugs as they get left which then buggers up the coil pack.

Around a quarter of council funding is raised through council tax, the rest is via the government and there are austerity hawks in charge. There's your problem.

Discovered while searching for a ew motor that all the tax bands have changed. It used to be that pre2006 capped out at about £305 but now it can be £555. Bugger!
