I'd go with rad too. Engine is working hard at motorway speeds and needs good cooling. At that mileage rad is probably getting past its due date

More than twenty for free delivery but less than fifty. Judging on what I brought I'll guess at 43 quid

Calendar shot, surely

That moment when you consider a trade account with Mercedes, then worry you could genuinely spend as much every month as just leasing a new one "slowly restoring" three cars...

Still a bit off balance about the council letter I had the other day, didn't sleep well not helped by going through medication withdrawals as couldn't get a prescription filled until today.  Works giving me an unexpected and unpaid day off tomorrow as there is no delivery.  I'll get the ads for the uno and regata filled out and posted up for the interested parties.

I'm fighting off an urge to go and buy a seicento, bloody pointless but buying cars has been my default "fuck it - it will make me feel better" setting since Mum died two years ago.  In fact the letter is a bit of a wake up call, I can't go on buying and losing money every few month, I'm starting to rack up debts.  I suppose a therapist could make out all sorts with my hobby but I do know it's just a way of avoiding reality, which started to hit home hard today.

It'll do me good to lose the non-panda chod and I may even get the donor car stripped and off to the scrappy too.

I'll be one down from Saturday as the 4x4 is off to have another engine fitted, should make off roading and caravan towing a bit easier.

I've still got a project car to sort out - dunno if that's a keeper or not yet, once that's sorted I'll be into a much more manageable situation, even if it's not the mandated "2".  I'll be talking to the council planning dept tomorrow so hopefully things will be clearer after that.

Spent a few hours the other day polishing up the BMW as I thought it was high time it needed it. It still needs a service and brakes sorting but time and use of other cars hasn't given me time for that.

Now I'm in an airport in the originating country of my BMW waiting to go to Istanbul. I kind of fancy going to Beirut...

Anyone fancy an Autoshite meet in Istanbul?

I still have those rear disks for you😊

Will be hanging about Herefordshire until mid September, so drop round any time. I have actually half tidied the garage out, so o know exactly where they are stashed.

Picked up the new key for the Hyundai van from the dealer this afternoon.  Thankfully it's the right one, although it's a little bit notchy at the moment as is common with a new key in an old lock.  I'm just glad it wasn't one of the immobiliser-equipped vehicles that I lost the keys to - would have cost me a bit more than £15.79 for a replacement then.

Also the replacement mirror glass for the Saab arrived in the post so I stuck that on - it's a reasonably good fit and came complete with a sticky pad so I didn't have to piss about with Araldite - not bad for £4.04 including P&P.

Got a quote from a caliper rebuild place to do the NSF caliper on the Volvo - £109.  Found a brand new caliper on the Bay - £116.  It's made by Bosch rather than ATE but I've compared the photos to my caliper and it looks identical (except it's shiny).  So I might go for that - new set of pads and a couple of flexis will be another £30 or so, I'll whip the discs off and attack them with the sander in the hope of making them at least usable again, and hopefully the thing will stop properly for the first time in about 8 years.  Then once I've replaced the water pump and alternator it'll go properly too.  Once it's mobile, hopefully I'll get my mojo back and crack on with getting it back towards roadworthiness, rather than just using it as a handy skip.
