I'm told It's a rather old fashioned form of contraception now anyway.

Let me know how the MOT goes - definitely need to scratch the Disco itch before they get more scarce / go up in value

Failed, obviously. But only on one bit of brake pipe, which my new best friend Paul The Garage is going to replace tomorrow.

Otherwise he says it's a good one (and he does know his Land Rovers, as he runs a slightly* lived-in late 80s Range Rover himself).

Meanwhile my prime chod purchase appears to have fallen through :-(

Fleet reduction going well. Picking up another Volvo at the weekend.

Pretty good going for an old Disco that!

Sad to hear your purchase fell through, hate it when that happens!

I'm very keen on it - got any photos of the interior?

Just saw an actual TV commercial for the MG GS.

It's suitably low budget with poor production values and an unpolished voice over at the end.

It's adequate... probably like the car.

What? Seriously they didn't know what a coil was, you should have put the right shitters up the person by asking for points and condenser

I did explain that it was for an old points and condenser set up and was met with a baffled expression.  It's easy to forget that electronic ignition was pretty much de rigeur by 1996 and that was 20 years ago which is generally older than even the oldest car people use everyday.

I don't like change.

You think it's for the MG GS, it's actually an advert for pizza.

It looked more appealing...

...and I like my shite fresh.

The MG GS is truly baffling.  They've got Bumpercar Caravanpark advertising it or something.  Or it's the new series of Sherlock.  Or some sort of Chinese knock-off James Bond thing.

Was it TMF on Albert Road or the one on Grove Road South? The latter was a proper aladdin's cave which seemingly had anything you needed for any obscure car off the shelf, though it was about 8 years ago I last visited.

Indeed it was. I will give them a piece of my mind meekly pop round there and get another bulb when I move literally around the corner from theirs this time next week. SMF moved up to the top of the island I think, their place is being taken over by a Chinese sit down restaurant I think.

In other news, my missus didn't say no when I was longingly looking at a newish Hyosung, so in my book that means I can get a bike when I have enough cash burning a hole (and all the other lessons, etc)

That Airfix Panhard would be great but someone lost the chassis.

Yesterday I fitted new stereo to MX5. Which works.

Today I drove it 110 miles to Derby (The last 25 with the top down)

Then I filled up with super unleaded, and jet washed it.

Then I decided that it looked shit, so I polished it, and now it is raining.

But not too close up that you can tell how amateur they are.

Does anyone know what this is ?  My mum gave it me, about 15 years ago when she was sorting out the effects of a recently demised great great uncle.

Spotted in a hospital car park today, the guy jumped out and looked like he was off to visit his auntie Nellie or something. Wanted to ask him if this is his normal daily!

Not when you realise they love him and Sherlock out there! Kinda of a bonus for them, someone who is well known in 2 of their markets - possibly more as it's been exported worldwide.

That Discovery is just the sort of thing to trade in against a lovely green XJ40.

Don't you think, Skizzer?

I do.

Ha! I do love your green '40, but I would be so dead when Mrs S discovered we had three Jags.

I'll bring it over at some point in the next couple of months and change your mind. Some things are worth dying for.

Doubt it, that's Manchester.

edit: no, it isn't. Googling 'autoshite 2300' reveals AD's car and it's N reg.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that FE.

It better bloody not be, the ex-AngryDicky one is supposed to be in my shed (and is GJV538N).

It's a new one on me - it's not Dippy's either, nor the one that's been for sale for £10k for (unsurprisingly) a very long time, nor Vauxhall's own that Dollywobbler reviewed.

Edit: Duff info, because I am an idiot.  Sorry.  See below for people who know what they're talking about.

Is it not the one 'the doctor' sold to that chap who now uses it as a daily driver...

Any minute now my telephone is going to ring with "Your Mercedes is ready to collect, Sir" and my arsehole is going to start twitching like a bunny rabbit's nose.

From what I can gather: It's had...

  • Another head gasket kit fitted
  • Refurbished set of valves
  • BNIB genuine duplex timing chain and associated sprockets
  • Camshaft (previously enjoyed)
  • Rocker Cover
  • Few hoses (that were brand new but incorrect for a car with A/C)
  • Heater unblocked thanks to some unhelpful twat using K-seal (that'd be me)

When I spoke to the guy on Wednesday he said "Well it's 10 hours labour" and that was 5 days ago.  Seeing as they've not called to say it's ready, I'm bloody terrified.  More of my wife's reaction than to actually paying it you understand...

124's not bad either.

They are literally 10 a penny here...

Most towns are like driving through the late 80's/early 90's.......
