Funny thing is, the SM-powered DS I was in on Saturday also uses a centrifugal clutch. So do DAF Variomatics. I quite like them, aside from the fact they rule out bump starts.

Something about the colour of the white one, the fact it has a hood and the numberplate gives it a bit of a sinister feel for a 2cv somehow...

edit- just read your post properly!

Went to BCA today to buy a Honda Prelude.Ended up with a Volvo C70 T gt convertible. No pics as it's dark so they'd just look like a Gumtree advert anyway.

2000 W.reg with 160k miles but one owner and a fully stamped service book.First 12 supplying dealer and last serviced when MOTed in February this year.Drives very well and looks ok just a bit scabby here and there. Not sure whether to keep it yet.I suppose it's the right car for a balding, slightly overweight, mildly successful businessman approaching his 50th year.

Fuck! I need to remove any access I have to the internet I think.

Any Shiters in the Barnstaple area of Devon? Might need to poach some good will and provide pennies for a lift as I can't be arsed driving the truck down on tacho!

Put a new fuel pipe to the carb on the allegro and it fired up after a couple of turns. Time to waken it from its winter slumber. Slow puncture needs fixed first though.

I took the ZX TD Estate for a quick pit stop at a local garage, I had the front wheels balanced but was not able to test it because it needs 70 mph to shake and the exhaust adjusted so it does not knock against the body any more, which was successful.

Just ordered a replacement power steering cooler pipe for The Saab, with a view to replacing its rusty and weeping existing one. I predict bloodshed.

Finally found some time to get the XM's headlining refitted. Now need to 'adjust' the sunroof seal with a rubber mallet. I suspect it has expanded in storage, which is preventing it from dropping down nicely.

Flushed with success after the XM business, I headed out in the Perodua to shoot a video of it on my Samsung Galaxy. I have some editing to do, but blu-tacking the phone to the dashboard seems to have worked well!

While cutting the grass today (usually I never do this, but wife has a bad back atm) I noticed our mower fits well with this forum! as the Mountfield body rotted, I added sheet aluminium to hold it together. Now known as Frankenstein mower.

Why do the smallest jobs always turn into the biggest headaches?

I've taken custody of my dad's old Omega 2.2 seeing as he wanted rid, did a pre MOT check and identified it needed wipers and a backbox.

Ordered a backbox from eBay for £36.50 with clamps, which I thought reasonable as my local fast fit centre quoted £65 to supply part only when I dropped in.

It arrived today so thought I would crack on. The old clamps removed straight away with no sheared nuts which was great, but the backbox was completely moulded into the centre section. Just as I went in for the cut with the grinder, it sparked (from the electrical end!) and conked.

I attempted a repair but it still seemed a bit lairy, so I skipped it. It's had 10 years of hard abuse I guess, so identified a suitable replacement in B&Q and had a run out to pick it up.

On the way back, decided I would get some new exhaust rubbers as the current ones seemed tired. Now, it's been a few years since I did any exhaust work, but when did fast fit centres stop stocking exhaust hangers? And also clamps it seems. 'We don't do 'em mate we just order them in with the exhaust'

Arseholes. After trawling 4 motor factors I got what I needed and completed the job. A quick half hour job turned into 4 hours!

It's in for MOT in the morning though and I'm fairly confident it will pass with no advisories...
