Have just been reminded that MG 'rubber' bumpers are Bayflex. Who else knew?

I've been taking advantage of the dry and unusually mild weather this weekend to crack on with winterproofing the cars - gave the Rover, Volvo, Innocenti and Toyota a jet wash underneath and then a liberal application of cavity wax into the available box sections.  I also whipped the back wheels off the Innocenti and greased up the handbrake cables.

I wasn't able to do the final bit of the process as the Waxoyl I ordered to spray onto the vulnerable bits of underside hasn't turned up yet, but I treated the underside of the Volvo with a can of Auto Extreme rustproofing wax - probably not as good as Waxoyl but the car won't be going anywhere over the winter so should be good enough.

I didn't get much else done today as I spent most of the morning watching the Remembrance Sunday service / parade on the telly.  (Was surprised to see so many WW2 veterans still able to attend.)  I did get the mopeds shoehorned into the garage for the winter though.

Nature apparently realised it was Remembrance Sunday too - walking up the road to the car park to start cavity waxing the cars I came across this solitary poppy growing up from under a kerbstone at the side of the road.

Turned my sons 110 into a Van with windows and cut the bulkhead behind the seats out along the way IMG_4546.jpeg.cc1168bad763296580961b9fbc6635e1.jpegIMG_6890.jpeg.62996a10ee8d76cce4312f3a264f3592.jpeg1b3ccdb4-2f77-4b4e-b590-5d5ae9c325b4.jpeg.624a844868f2e41fc0ac4c70352e6252.jpeg

we had to do a lot of fine tuning to make that back door fit but it worked ok in the end

That bulkhead strengthening looks very neatly tucked in.

Is it one you made or bought?

If bought, which one?

It was part of a kit my son bought from Facebook marketplace (I will try and find out the make) that apparently the NAS spec Defenders used, there is a central tube part which we discovered was about 2 inches too wide so we didn’t fit it, we just fitted the outer brackets

That’s us trying and failing to fit the central bar

At some point in the future we will modify/shorten the central bar to fit

to be fair after we cut the bulkhead out and even without the outer brackets there wasn’t any flex in the tub sides

(tbf, that would be a lot of flex, which seems pretty unlikely)

You’re implying that Land Rover’s tolerances are finer than 25.4mm…

Also

we had to do a lot of fine tuning to make that back door fit

Don't know how recent this news is, but I've just read that the cannonball record has been broken seven times in five weeks!

Article didn't say by who, or how fast tho, so I'm not sure if it's true

The Mazda 323 I've had for two and a half years had a not quite FTP about a month ago. The clutch slave cylinder decided it had done enough work. Had to drive the last 25 miles rev matching which I have experience of with clutch cables breaking on previous cars. Then today it had an actual FTP when it refused to start. Pretty sure it's the coil so ordered one which should arrive on Friday. For a car that's 32 years old I don't think that's too bad in the time I've had it. Have a pic. I've yet to see another estate.

Done a trackday at Spa Francorchamps in my Megane r26 last Friday. Lucky with the weather, dry, sunny 17deg temp!

Strangely the trackers were a bit cheaper, with discount codes, on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184337269963

I finally got around to this, paid £9 for the tracker itself.   I have a few bits of the 205 apart so was able to wire it in pretty discretely and I am very impressed with the app so far.

It's nothing fancy, it just does what you expect it to, in a usable way.  Top recommendation.

@davehedgehog31 you should get one for the Boxster

Looks like the tracker is free if you buy a top up on the website at the moment

I've had one of these on the Land Rover since it's been back on the road (April-ish).

It's brilliant for the price. Even when it's parked in the shed it still shows its precise location, including address and postcode.

Impressive considering how shit the mobile signal is here.

I remember once taking it out to a show and nipping in past Lidl on the way home for some beers etc.

The TruTrak app showed the exact parking space I'd stopped in, complete with an "engine off" event logged, followed by an "engine on" and the entire route home afterwards.

This makes me very happy. You pipped me to the post on this by about an hour, so I’m delighted to see it being rectified immediately. Well blood done dude.

Two days into lock up clean up/make room to swing a cat and i've found the alloy wheel bolts. This allowed some tyre swappage and now for the first time in my ownership, (years) we have matching wheels.

Yes, on the Mot ramp yesterday.

Mot on the Berlingo in the morning, fingers crossed,I've only done about 4000 miles since the last one and touch wood, aside from the clutch master cylinder yolk unscrewing and the pedal flying up under the dash one morning,it's been good as gold. Still looking out for a really nice early 2000s Toyota of some sort but it's doing the do for now. In other news after suffering with the symptoms most my adult life and worsening in the last few years,I've finally been referred to an ME/chronic fatigue specialist 😞
