Just got back from Devon - 620 miles in two days in the 107.  Wouldn't have been my first choice of transport for a trip like that but the Rover has a busted spring and I'm nearly out of anti-ethanol additive for the Toyota so the 107 was the most logical choice - it's probably saved me money too, it's done 630 miles on less than 80 quid which is well over 50mpg, none of the other cars in the fleet would manage that sort of economy on a run like that (Devon is bloody hilly), with the possible exception of the Innocenti but then I wouldn't be able to walk if I'd done 620 miles in that.

107 down in Devon (I'm a poet and I didn't noet)

About 10 years ago, I bought a new 107 from a dealer in North London and drove it home to Edinburgh, about 400 miles. Taking it easy with a new engine and generally slip streaming lorries, I got about 75 mpg. Most of the rest of its life was spent around town but never less than 50 mpg. Nice little cars.

In non-Kia shitbox news, I've got a place on that course.

So if you're ever on a delayed train in East Lancashire, blame me!*

Had the wind behind me driving to HQ yesterday for a meeting. 58 miles one way, journey average UK 37.5mpg, keeping between 45 and 55 on the back roads. Not bad for a 5.7 V8 pickup truck.

Getting bored waiting on the replacement seal for the Plymouth. Bottom of the gearbox is sitting undone to the elements, which is not optimal.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who had exactly the same reaction to seeing that then!

Bravely ventured Norf of that London today on a LNER Azuma. My speedo app confirmed it hit 125mph, pretty comfy too.

Im actually surprised the banger boys haven’t had it on the oval! Which would be a better end for the poor thing than sitting on a rack before getting cubed.

Id be very surprised if they ever sell any of the body or interior parts of that car. There just aren’t any other over here to need the bits. If it’s fucked and now registered scrap a last blaze of glory on the oval is the best way for it to go now. Someone might as well enjoy it one last time. It’s just going to sit on that rack in the yard for ages then get thrown in the shredder when they decide it’s a waste of space.

The real tragedy for it was it getting damaged in the first place and written off.

I'm a bit too far away to rescue it now, not seen a track out here either!

Took custodian of this little beaut today! I had to have it due to the rarity of being an automatic.

Instead of having my lunch sitting at home, I squandered some E5 and had lunch with a view (Fawsley). The Tipo needs a wash.

L on the selecta?

L for 'low' gear - holds it in first on most of the boxes I've seen it on, handy for driving down slippery surfaces without using the brakes.

My Mitsubishi Mirage Juro has a similar CVT set-up and has an L.  I don't think I've ever used it though in 44K miles.  Are the Selecta transmissions reasonably reliable? The Mirage has been fine so far.  I have also owned two Volvo 66s with a more primitive CVT set-up using the DAF system.  They worked well enough but I did have to rebuild one of the cone assemblies when the spider spring broke.  It was a surprisingly straightforward unit to work on, unlike the later metal belt types.

Camskill never responded to my email about the 20 month old tyres so I took that as a big middle finger to the idea of getting them replaced.

As the tyres were cluttering the place up I decided to fit them. Getting the old tyres on and off by hand was pretty easy once I’d broken the bead in a suitably padded vice. Soap was used to pop the new tyres on but no matter what I did I couldn’t get the first tyre to bead properly so I could inflate it. A quick YouTube tutorial later and I discovered that the tyre could be pushed onto the bead with suitable support (in this case part of the towing dolly)and the other side could then be massaged onto the opposite wheel bead enough to take air. Soon all tyres were fitted and the 2cv is now sporting a set of new(ish) hoops!

Now you've fitted them, you'll obviously receive a reply offering newer replacements 🤣

Didn't think this was worth starting a whole thread in the ask a shiter section, but could anyone remind me of which main dealer it is that tends to stock Daihatsu parts and what the 3rd party website is that frequently gets mentioned on here who do a lot of the bits for them? Thanks

Toyota stock dai parts, or at least they are interchangeable. 3rd party website is amayama.com - though you need to know the corresponding Toyota model
