Porsche passed its MOT by a gnat's pube.

Some corrosion near the jacking points that'll want welding in the near future; nothing too bad, apparently.

Other hit advisories include: Play in the Offside Outer Track Rod Ball Joint, and A Bit of Play in the Nearside Rear Wheel Bearing.

Well I'm glad it's passed!

740 news: is going to the garage to see if they can retrofit a generic heater control valve. Then it'll get an mot and hopefully get the footwell properly dry before long!

in 307 news, I've generally tinkered with trying to get moisture out of the spare tyre well, I think there's lots of moisture soaked and/ or pooled in various places seeping in from when it was full of water. We'll see.

The rear wiper arm is not is great condition but I've parked it correctly and done it up. Its going well in general. 20211208_092502.thumb.jpg.c90b4f6ea6dd729257f88224831da025.jpg

Mondeo Hatchback is going to a breaker Friday so I've emptied it of stuff and mostly got the towbar off. Well, I've taken the bolts out (with help, in the cold rain. Much swearing) and it's just wedged, I have borrowed a sledge hammer to encourage it to fall out. Will hit next time I have a chance.

My Mondeo estate is performing as it ought to, wifey is borrowing it. I dare say I'll have to prise her out of it tomorrow so I can drive it again!

My '94 Tipo 1.4ie failed its MOT last week on a couple of bulbs (stop lamp and side repeater, both nearside) and both front brake hoses.  The bulbs were easy of course but the hoses took a few days to obtain via eBay.  Today, the garage fitted the new hoses and a track rod end which I wanted done because it looked iffy.  Now Mot'd for another year without any advisories. Wallet only £252 lighter.  Tax and insurance renewal in a week or two too.  Has Boris cancelled Christmas yet?  Just hoping.

Progress on breaking the MG and working on the Lada has been paused again.

Wife went to the hospital on Saturday, and it was a rough few days - so I want to apologise if I was off/a cunt to anyone (specifically @Jazoli), but this lad popped in to the world yesterday afternoon - Tadhg Míchéal. Because why would anyone have a name you can pronounce easily?

He's not home yet, so I don't know if he has taken my car side yet of his mother's hatred of them. Both are well considering, the plug thing on his hand was a precautionary thing.

Ill admit I didn't realise Tadhg was an actual name, I thought it was just part of @Tadhg Tiogar's user name!

The best thing about the name is that it sounds like it looks.

Llongyfarchiadau

Because I don't know what congratulations is in Irish.

My wife is a fan of names with 'silent' letters, our Irish neighbours had loads. I admit I like the name Sibhdh but we went for local names that the English family can cope with, Anwen and Gethin.

Anyway all the best to you and your family, fatherhood starts off difficult and gets even more difficulter.

But it's the best.

Fired up the Charade at lunchtime to run it down to the car park to finish fitting the air horn, and I noticed a distinct puff of blue smoke from the exhaust.  I hope it's not starting to go the same way as the Wobblermobile - although it has done over 100K and I think it's a bit of a TADTS with them.  It cleared after about a minute anyway so hopefully I've still got a while before it starts failing the MOT on emissions.  I might try sticking a treatment in it to see if that helps.  Or give it an oil change with thicker oil.

I've decided to substitute a universal steering rack gaiter and a piece of PLA for a Toyota bump stop and I bet the NCT inspector won't notice!

A farmer got a wee bit overenthusiastic with making his bonfire burn better. The local Fire Brigade was on scene the first time I passed, it is still there today, a couple of weeks later. Now with added fuel.

And in other news, it's nearly Christmas. Another farmer, nearly across the road from the previous has made everyone who passes smile.

Took the Puma on the school run this morning. I was presented with a choice of 2 (two) working cars to choose from, a rarity in itself. Decided on the Puma mainly because it warms up nice and quickly.

Now that it doesn't try to asphyxiate me when the car isn't moving, I was struck by how much I like it. I wasn't even going fast - didn't exceed 30mph, yet it was still fun to drive a few miles.

The heated windscreen novelty still hasn't worn off, either. Just brilliant.

Should me measure out these parking spaces?

Nah, just eyeball it. Can't go wrong.

Semi-related. Van's bonnet popped open three times on the M77 this morning despite my best efforts trying to get the latch freed up. Bastards going to get me killed...

The Ford heated windscreen is a fantastic invention.  Apart from on the days when you can't unsee the little squiggly lines in the windscreen obvs.

I guess it boils down to whether you are bothered more by squiggly line obstruction or screen scraping. For me, definitely the latter. For those with a garage it's not relevant.

Maybe it sort of depends on your eyesight - short sighted more likely to be bothered by the filaments than long sighted?

I'm away to drop some parts for my old fiesta off with my tame mechanic who is doing MOT prep on it for the new owner. Given he's primarily a Saab man I'm sure he'll have something to say about the 855!

Well fuck.

75 rubber top mounts.

Glad I caught this though, before it went through the bonnet.

The other side isn't as bad but it's on its way.

Mrs CSW messaged.

'Someone hit my car, while it was parked outside work', followed by a large number of expletives, including much use of C U Next Tuesday.

Much panic on my part, till she sent a picture. Not entirely sure how anyone managed to do this.
