Nope, never had that problem. Never had  a Ducato. 8)

I removed the steering column shroud in the Ypsilon earlier (what a faff that was - all the interior plastics in that car seem to be fitted together like a bloody Chinese puzzle) to investigate whether I could work out which wires related to the (broken) headlight switch, and reroute them via a separate om/off switch.  No such luck - the column stalks are in one unit with a single multiplug for both stalks, which has 8 wires running from it, four of which are green.  So I have no chance of finding which one is which - I bought what seems to be the only workshop manual available for the car and it's bloody useless, so I've got nothing to go on.  New set of stalks required then.  Bloody moderns.

We have been on holiday this week in the van. An awesome week in a cracking campsite, loads to do, WIFE_CMS got horrifically sunburnt, smol_cms has had an absolute ball. The only issue with the van itself is the fridge has been playing up

Then my attention was drawn. Our van has visitors.

Anyone know how to get rid of a fucking wasps nest in the side of a Fiat Ducato?

Brake cleaner seems to kill them on contact.  Seen on Vice Grip Garage...but in my experience it seems to work far better than actual bug spray these days.  The cans usually have a decent range too which is helpful.

Had issues with them hanging around by the garage door last year and that proved a very effective method of dealing with the ones which got too bothersome which I wasn't able to just leave be.

That's the one!!! The exhaust was mildly blowing when it drove past me a couple days ago. The green paint has gone a bit chalky as well.

I've seen 21 X-Types in less than 3 days.

Either they're everywhere, or I have a shit radar.

CMS's Talbot now that IS a camper, designed and being used as such and it looks great. Joy.

I don't normally bother about modified vehicles but the ruination of that Transit County is a bit frustrating. This was an iconic and very rare vehicle that looked like it had been sympathetically restored. It would have created a lot of  joy at shows and still been useful as a van. Why do people make shit hipster camper conversions like that??  They almost always go to shit and end up half-arsed and half-finished on ebay or Marketplace.

There’s a weekly car night at a local motorbike repair shop/alcohol free bar/pizzeria/ coffee  shop/identify crisis haunt  on a Tuesday.

Took the magic wagon today as it was the most easily accessible.

Look what bloody parked next to us!

Can’t get away from Deux Chevauxs!

Much quieter than the last time I was here but a few nice things.

That Corvette was immaculate! Utterly wonderful thing!

Is that a genuine Chevette HS?

Today has been a complete washout so that's scuppered any bodywork or painting I had wanted to do. Oh well, always tomorrow.

Oh, I've also discovered why the engine is so oily and why I needed to top it up a couple of days ago.The rocker cover gasket has essentially split apart at both forward facing corners and are very wet with oil, which is why I was seeing golden drips on the bottom of the accumulator and gearbox bell housing. While I'm changing that I might as well adjust valve clearances as it sounds rather tappety.

While the timing belt is new, as is the waterpump by the looks of things, I'll probably opt to get them replaced at some point once I hit 110,000 miles. At that moment in time, I may as well fit the surfaced and cleaned cylinder head I have, complete with the valvetrain and camshaft.

Mine has just smoked all the way past Preston thanks to 1 hour journey taking 3 hours ... Engine did not like idling for hours , cleared up when up to speed .

Bung some 10/40 in next week to stop the smoke signals .......

Love the proton. Anyone called dibs on it yet? I used one same colour as that as a private hire car in Glasgow back in the day. Called it triggers brush as it had everything replaced by the end. Reckon it had well over 300k on it when it was replaced. Far better car than they got credit for

This fella has driven past my house several times in the space of an hour... not sure if he’s touting for business or looking to make a delivery!

The Saxo reached a mileage milestone a couple of days ago.

It might not be a lot compared to some on here but it's the highest mileage on my fleet.

This hasn't hit 55k yet; TBH if I could keep the water out the sodding sunroof I'd use it more often! Could be doing with a couple of rear shockies but otherwise isn't too bad bar what I assume is an old accident repair getting grotty.

Turbodiesel so punchy and decent on fuel too

Didnt realise it was a TD! They were few and far between when new, cant be many left on the road now. Mine was a 1.6 petrol, think i paid 4.5k for it at 3 year old 😅. I didnt have the luxury of a sunroof

From what I've been able to find out, they sold less than 1300 diesels of all models in the UK - 479 TDi, 107  TDi GLS, 5 Trio TDi. 579 SDi and 93 Wira TDi. They all used the 4D68 or 4D68T Mitsubishi diesel, 68bhp in the SDi and 80bhp in the TDi.  I think road legal survivors are down to low single figures.

Your 1.6 would have been an XLi? Aircon instead of a sunroof? The TDi was more or less equivalent to the 1.8SEi but with a sunroof instead of aircon, no ABS and rear drums.

Threw some paint on the van as I got fed up sanding. I'll never make a bodywork man but at least it's one colour. Hopefully in a few weeks I can flat it back and polish it up. Considering it was a twenty quid spray gun and painted outside I'm pretty happy with my first attempt at painting a whole vehicle.
