Looks good, I'm glad you've had progress now.

Maybe I'll have a think and see if the idea sticks. Cheers, I'll let you know 👍

I said to the wife that it would fit. She said it was too expensive to do.

It's a '66

Doing a little research shows that the poly-head 318 can be fitted with modern "magnum" heads (they just bolt on) for a significant computer designed improvement to the engine.

That also means the fuel injection manifold fits.

Mmm.

Picked up the right filter from ECP, it was twice the size of the original which I think was for a small block GM unit. I'll do the filter tomorrow afternoon as I'm on holiday all week.

Washed, waxed and polished. Good to see it and the Corsa next to each other.

Mostly, yes. The interior is junk so that needs to be addressed.

Eddy got even that beat on length by another couple feet, and this one's longer than the Pontiac.

New stepper motor on order and I have a spare loom now so I'm just going to replace everything from the scotchlock up to the motor

Pendant mode, that’s not a scotchlock.

That is a scotchlock,  and as a connector is even worse than the block in your loom.

You are probably better off without it either way.

Micra's rear wiper split this morning and the fronts are going the same way. Lucas wipers which are just over 1 year old too. Happily, though, the new brake pads have completely solved my cooked brake issue. Win.

I think I get 3 months out of wipers on the Acclaim if I'm lucky. They start squeaking after a couple of weeks, suspect the screen might be pitted enough to be mildly abrasive...

Hmm... I have a feeling I've got lucky in which case.

Finally found the idle jet on the BX and it's blocked: backing it out ever-so-slightly has the engine running sweet as a nut; turning it back in and the idle is lumpy enough to make the car shake again.

Now then... how do I unblock it?

Flushing it through with cleaner unblocked it, however, the problem persists. It runs lumpy when screwed home and runs fine when backed out by a hair. Either the rubber washer on it has crushed so it's getting tightened too much, or there's something deeper that's at fault.

Just to show that using an American full-size as a daily is possible and will fit in Aldi's car park*

Or you can park right up against the curb and climb out the passenger side like I did here. Bench seat necessary.

Even more pedant mode:  it's actually spelled "Scotchlok".

Pedant mode for pedantic pedants: 3M™ Scotchlok™ Electrical IDC 560B-BULK, Double Run or Tap, Flame Retardant, Blue, 18–16 AWG (solid/stranded), 14 AWG (stranded), 500 per carton, 5000 per case

The genuine 3M product is a different blue, t'other is a cheap* knockoff. Either way, the chocbloc (slang) should be replaced.

But over there, the passenger gets the wheel and pedals.

I like Derek from Vice Grip Garage's designations:- Captain's Side and Drinker's Side.

They fit chief..

In fact, there's space for an Omega too.

If I keep it I'll fit the Speedlines from the Corsa for a bit and then maybe swap them for ones like you have shown.

Or if I don't, the new owner will have the  choice!

That's not rain, it's drizzle. I guess PhilA has not visited Scotland recently. Or Wales. Or Ireland!

With rain like that, why not put the engine from a Renault on a canoe, I mean what could go wrong :)

It would work better as the anchor.

Had my first Covid jab this morning. Lucky I got to the Sports Centre early, as it seems my English name confused their system.

Spain seems to employ some stunning looking nurses too.
