80s actually - it's a 1983 on an A prefix. ...

I'm going to have a go at this:

Datsun Bluebird.

Family friends in Maidenhead had one, and it was very brown. And it had a brown interior.

The Scirocco actually broke down on Friday, just before its previous owner H Imp was to visit barefoot towers. It had been starting up on three for about a week, but I had ignored it. On Friday, I diagnosed and ordered new ignition leads, today they arrived and I managed to fit them successfully! That is the second repair I have managed this year - I is fucking mechanic me!

Giving up but a last guess

Mmm, very nice. Good guess but no. Plus they were on to the aerodynamic C3 by 1983.

Nope. More executive than that.

Vauxhall Carlton 1.8 L

Nope, not a Carlton.

And 1.8 L?  How dare you, sir.

It has a proper executive cylinder count, i.e. more than four.  I decided it’s been too long since I bought a car with a civilised number of pistons.

The only other one(s) I can think of that were available in brown were either the BMW E28 520i/525i or a Rover SD1 2300/2600. Those were executive cars to me.

Think more advertising executive than executive director.

What could possibly be more executive than a Datsun Bluebird “1983 on an A”?

The mind boggles.

Saab 900?

Excellent guess! I’ve always fancied a 900 turbo. But not this time - insufficient cylinders.

Or perhaps a Royale, for a bit of extra shiny trim?  Mmm, would.  Hopefully one day.  But not this week.

It’s probably going to be a massive anticlimax now.  Sorry.  Apart from the brownness.  It’s very brown.

Surely nothing brown and made in 1983 could in anyway be anticlimactic?!

Has anyone suggested a 5 series yet skizz? 525?
edit: yes they did … e30 3 series?

I know what you mean about more than 4 cylinders, I've been running mostly 6-pots this year.

if a carlton is too rep & a senator/royale are too exec what about a viceroy?

A Renault 30 or a Viceroy would definitely not be an anticlimax!

Skattrd, you have smoked me out:

Just had 4 Vredestein Sportrac tyres delivered from my tyres (through eBay). 205 55 16 size.

170 quid!

Made in 18th week of 2019, so not old stock. How do they make money on that? Postage is gotta be worth 20 quid.

Also, why would you fit Luckyland Happygallops, unless your insane.

How many times will the words “excessively corroded” be used...

Hopefully none...

Apparenly Multipla owners can be categorised as insane. Who'd have thought it?

I’m afraid it does have alloys - factory bottletops, which are high on my list of favourite wheels of evah.

I do really like the look of standard silver steels on these though. Maybe I’ll get a set with winter tyres for OMG snokaos.

Collection thread to follow.  Just had a call from the seller to warn me of a new quirk it’s developed.  More on that story later.
