Speaking of styling, I've been seeing a lot less Kia Sportfridges about since the new model came out.

Good.

Mate at work bought* one. Advised him I hoped it wasn't white. It was. Advised him he would soon find several magnets attached to his new P&J.

Sounds like your car got scared going by the sound the horn made :-D If you want to upgrade I would highly suggest pillaging a scrapped Volvo 850 and/or S/V/C70 for their Mixo TR99's. I'm sure other cars have them too but they're easily accessible in those, just be sure to take as much of the wiring as you possibly can as they don't have simple spade connectors.

Much better!

The navy's new carrier is leaking. 200 litres an hour entering the ship.

The captain should be a former SD1 owner.

K11c looks like it's a goner.

Bonnet popped open last week cracking the screen. The top of the frame is bent so needs bodywork before a windscreen can be fitted.

Even with 12 months test, I reckon that's terminal. Anyone want a broken micra?

It's traditional. By the time Hermes was sold to India the entire bottom deck was full of concrete to control leaks.

Given the size of the ship, 200l p/h is a drop in the ocean. I bet a full compliment of crew will be flushing more shit down the toilet per hour than that. Average bath is 80 litres, so it's basically 2.5 baths leaking in every hour. Given our bath tap can pretty much fill a bath in 15 minutes, its basically like leaving your bath tap on ... in a massive warehouse. I suspect the leak looks like a dribble out of the seal.

Really shouldn't even be a news item. In fact it shouldn't have leaked out to the media.

Exactly. I could spit on the floor and say the room is flooded, proportionally it would be about the same.

The problem was found during sea trials, which is basically the snagging process - or predelivery inspection in our terms.

The bilge pumps are working though so no problem, as said non-news.

I think I might make another effort to move the Honda on in the New Year. It has served me well, but I'm not sure it deserves to make it to two years on the fleet. Also, I can't buy anything else until something goes, and there's nowt else in the firing line.

Flush with the success of a presentation I did today at work that seemed to go ok, I find I have agreed to do a neighbour a favour tomorrow by putting a new clutch in his 06 picasso, on my drive, with his assistance, as from the sound of it, the release bearing is now in bits bouncing around inside the bell housing.

I wish I had an engine crane or a transmission jack rather than two jacks and some blocks of wood. And perhaps more time in which to do this rather than one day. And it not be winter.

wcpgw...

If I need to unload tomorrow after this debacle has started, I may be entertaining you with pics showing how nasty this particular hdi has got, and possibly the extent of my ineptitude.

crabbing?

normally i would say a bent axle or a bent body, or a combination of the two.

given that it was a W202 c-class i would also suggest that it could be that the back axle is no longer attached to the body, what with them been propper rotters and all.

That surplus 1.2 welding wire FOAD had.... Was that supposed to have gone around the propshaft on the aircraft carrier   ??

Warning - boring modern car content

My Volvo has indicators in the mirrors, the type where you're supposed to take the car to the Volvo dealer just to change a bulb!

A bit of Googling revealed the secret to getting the mirror apart without wrecking it, the problem was clear enough - the bulb had fallen out of it's rather crappy rubber holder:

Getting the loose bulb out of the sealed light unit through this hole proved impossible.

So my quality* fix was to put another bulb in the holder and leave the old one to rattle around in there.

I'm calling that job jobbed.

Went to the garage to check the cars, lifted the cover on the Bentley and the front passenger side is soaking! Not sure if it's condensation or rain getting in through the roof (of the garage) and leaking through the cover. Whatever, not happy. Will have to go and get the old lass out so she dries off.
