Got the last bit of Cowley seat back from the trimmer on Friday...........

That looks perfect! Well, not perfect, but perfectly patinamalised.

Thanks, SL, just the look I wanted!    Mix of leather and rexine but she'll do....

I think it needs a couple more Ford badges, you know just in case someone doesn't know what it is :)

Oh is it a ford ? I thought it was an insignia 😄

Well that's a busy 3 days off nearly over......As you may have read, I got my camper back out of the barn, fitted the rest of my Cowley interior and kept Mrs Rocker happy with some domestic fettling.

Merc had a good late night dash back from a gig in Hammersmith where we didn't get lost once (we don't do satnav....) - we turned off our home junction from the motorway 15 minutes before a high speed chase ended in carnage across 3 carriageways so that was a bit of luck.

Only thing that didn't go to plan was an MOT fail on the Volkswagen.   Rusty brake pipes.   I'll take that quite happily on a 30 year old VW camper van.....Be ready tomorrow apparently.

Poor little Minor did not get the attention I planned for it last week but its used to a bit of neglect.   Nothing major, just some cleaning, rustproofing and fettling.   Next weekend, I promise....

Fitted my new old stock carb on the AMC at the weekend to try and see if it cures the stalling on setting off from rest -

Good news - it does, and when running it's much smoother.  Also easier to start.

Bad news, it's moved the problem up the rev range so now it stutters and misses under anything other than very gentle acceleration after setting off.

I am thinking now it's either short of fuel somewhere (fuel pump maybe) or an ignition issue.  Have got new plugs, and I'm going to order some plug leads and a rotor arm and a dizzy cap.

Also need to check the electric auto choke is working properly (the old one was vacuum operated).

Cracking job Mercrocker, big improvement!

I too hate the look of modern leathercloth. Rexine is pretty hard to get hold of nowadays.

Thanks, AD..There was only one useable length of Rexine and that went along the front roll of the front bench where it will hopefully not wear so much as old leather will.   That explains the colour difference.   As you probably know Cowleys were Rexine and Oxfords generally leather - most of my donor stuff came from the more common Oxfords....

Clayed and polished with Morrison's finest polish. A good car crying out for TLC.

Fed up of the look of your Vivaro van?

Want it to (try) look like a H van of yesteryear?

Step this way.....

I appear to have made a purchase!

I went to view this proper giffer spec 1999 Rover 620ti this afternoon, it's been of the road in a barn for a couple of years and this guy i know collected it this morning so i went straight over to view it. It's done 72000 miles, starts and runs perfect considering how long it's been of the road.

It needs a bloody good polish, it has a tiny scab on the bottom of one arch which I'll tidy and a couple of the bumper corners are also scuff which I'll fix. The brakes are spongy and the handbrake is weak but thats to be expected really so I'll get them clean, it's had new calipers on the back recently so it won't be much.

It had a new cambelt and water pump recently too. It droves around the yard nicely so i don't think it will need much work for a mot.

For a 197bhp performance car it don't half look bland! It doesn't even say Ti!

The radio comes on and the aerial goes up but the display is blank and nothing comes on so I'll have to look at that but everything else works like it should.

It gets dropped off Friday, if there's enough interest I'll start a thread on it.

Where's the best place to get Volvo spares in the UK now? I can find the bits I need in America for pennies - $10/side for the metal brackets, $20 for the plastic cover - but all I can find in the UK are big obvious bits like headlights on eBay.

Looking for both metal brackets that hold grille and lights, the plastic cover and clips (it's present but snapped in half and missing two clips) and optionally, a grille.

Metal brackets will mean the lights line up properly again.

Really like that. Are they Rover rubber mats in it too?

Flatted back the primer on the MF 35 bonnet today,

I'm quite pleased with that :-D

Mud guards and fuel tank are next to be done.

Yes they are! I don't think it's ever had a hard life. Plans are to clean and service it, get a mot, use it for a month or two and then sell it on to pay for a new washing machine!

Top buyage trig! Looks to have been a bit of a steal.

Indeed. Let's see how many points you can acquire in it before you sell it. ;) Wonderful Q-car. Looks exactly the same as my clapped out old dizzler one.

I hope so! I paid £400 for it with no ticket, I'm hoping i shouldn't have to spend much on it. Watching them on ebay a real shitter sold for £700 and a tidy but Cat C one sold for £1250 so i think that was a fair price.

Lakes Volvo at Wyboston. If he won't post, confirm he has the bits and I will collect and post them on for you.

It's very old school there - last time I went it was help yourself. In which case I might not be much help because I'm relatively ignorant.

But if I can, I will.

A real q-car, especially so as it's a late (very late) model on a V. Toward the end of 800/600 production they dropped the model specific badging so all (including the 620ti) were badged simply as 600. So low key. Soon forgotten in the MG Rover era when they got all shouty with the x-power body kits, which I like just the same.

There's the place on the A1 just north of The Black Cat roundabout near St Neots , field full of everything from 144s to XC90s. Only problem is the blokes a mentalist and almost impossible to deal with.

That Rover is great Trig, please start a thread. Still remember a guy I was working with at Hartwells getting one up to 120 on the Telford bypass whilst I was a slightly* concerned passenger.

I'm near there now. Just passed his place earlier on. He has got a couple of Volvo estates out front.

The Panda 4x4 passed its CT pollution check today - thats a year since I finished it already. Only done a few hundred kilometers in that time.....should use it more, I suppose.
