I got a new camping chair that hopefully I won't not put up correctly and fall backwards tipping my beer all over myself to the laughter of the svm this year, and a new bag, so I'm sorted for sf18 now after my birthday camping stuff!

I know the farmer who owns

I can't say I'm surprised the north sea belongs to a farmer, once the oil runs out he'll be claiming set aside on it

Bump! I seem to remember saabnut mentioned he'd be ok with visitors but whether that amounts to hosting sf 18 in his field is another thing entirely. Great setting though!

Wherever it's held I need to decide- Wartburg, LDV stealth police special or whatever else I may have acquired in the meantime!

Would the Wartie fit in the back of StealthPlod...?  :)

I've got a horribly busy summer ahead, so I shall watch with interest, and a huge sense of nervous anticipation.

West Scotland sounds good, I could leave after lunch. West Carmarthen sounds fine too. Or east somewhere even.

Weren't we going to have it at Trigger's house one year so he'd come?

I'd love to come this year, but being about as far South as you can possibly get while still being in England, it may be a challenge

I wish my house was big enough to hold it! I could arrange a nice museum visit too.

Am I allowed to attend in one of my horrendous modernz?

Yes. AnthonyG tends to show up in something shamefully (shamelessly?) modern and is always forgiven. (Actually a rather nice car, but I’ve never been brave enough to say so in public.)

Come to the minimeet in Portsmouth in April instead ;)

Is there anywhere in your Area that would allow a load of ruffians to camp there?! I can make enquiries round Derbyshire if any interest. But I do like Wales and would love to explore Scotland

Question is do I bring the guaranteed future shite Duster Access or the honorary shite because Cat C and not repaired van?

Van.  All the sleeping space you could possibly require!

Hmm, Scotlandshire.

Leave the high and dry at mine and come up in the laggy band wagon!

Portsmouth is already fixed in my diary ;)  And it's midweek so I understand not everyone will be able to get the time off, but it's fine.  Those who can will be welcome.  Shitefest.... well depending on when and where, I might make it.  My holiday dates have to be slammed in early, so they're all fixed now.

Posted

It's dates that are concerning me. Who's picking the ball up then? I'm minding to organise another Welsh Shitefest in 2019, but 2018 isn't going to leave me with any planning/organising time.

Posted

If nobody steps up shortly I will volunteer for organising one again, probably at the Llangollen Motor museum unless anywhere else springs to mind. I'd prefer to travel further afield though!

I mean, that'd be great in terms of Invacar missioning! Scotland does seem quite daunting in that (plus, if it was before July, I'd use something else. The Invacar's first mission will be to Festival of the Unexceptional. Possibly to Thundersley afterwards).

As I stated before, all be it somewhat foolishly, I am willing to host something if required. However it would have to avoid Le Mans (mid June), Le Mans Classic (Mid July) and the SOC meet mid August so dates would have to be worked around. Also, I only have one bog and one shower (but a lot of surrounding forests and a stream through the garden!).

When is Shitefest being planned to be?

How many people are likely to attend?

How many tents are expected? I might have to move a bit of scrap around! Van/car parking is plentiful!

My post code is AB30 1 to give you an idea. Nearest pub is about 4 miles away, nearest shop the same. Nearest road is a mile from me, and the track a little rough, so lowered M8 cars may have problems, but the Cobra gets up and down fine if you take your time.

Dates are whatever suits the organiser really. Earliest we've had it is May, latest was mid-September.

Won't be many tents. Most people kip in their cars. Can't have been more than six or seven tents last year.

Posted

I thought more than 6 or 7 tents last year, but maybe not.

There were also a few Caravans/camper vans as well

Posted

That's true. I think they've been getting bigger every year too. 30 vehicles perhaps? That's always included a lot of day-trippers though. I can see Scotland might throw the numbers out a bit. KruJoe's Northern Shitefest was a smaller affair. (Much bolstered by SambaS bringing about ten cars).

Yeah, not convinced of the likelihood of a day trip to AB30

Not to say it isn't an amazing place but it would have to be longer than a 7 hour drive, quick cup of tea and drive home.
