THAT Fiat Panda 100HP - 1yrs SOLD

My cursed Panda has failed it's MOT and I'm not sure I can be arsed any longer and just want it out the way. I'm getting a price for the work to be done to get a years mot on it but in the mean

time if anyone would like to take it off my hands then let me know.

I'm not exaggerating when I say I've spent the sale price on it never mind what I paid for it. Another great buy high sell low strategy.

it's the sporty Fiat Panda 100HP.

it's had in the last year..

new timing belt and water pump

new alternator

new clutch slave and master

new gear linkage

new front brakes

new front tyres sub 500 miles ago.

It had a big dent in the door I had fixed. it's still a bit rough and ready there's a dent on the wing and a crack in the front bumper.

Interior needs a good clean.

it failed it's MOT on the following.

Exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases (7.1.2)
Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive (7.3.D.3)
Exhaust emissions hydrocarbon content after 2nd fast idle excessive (7.3.D.3)
Exhaust emissions Lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits (7.3.D.3)

Nearside rear parking brake recording little or no effort (3.7.B.6a)
Steering system excessively rough (2.2.D.1)
Offside Front suspension has excessive play in a track control arm inner bush (2.5.B.2b)
Parking brake: efficiency below requirements (3.7.B.7)

Advisory notice item(s)

Rear brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (3.5.1i)
Rear Brake pad(s) wearing thin (3.5.1g)
Nearside Front suspension has slight play in a track control arm inner bush (2.5.B.2b)
Offside Front Shock absorber has a slightly worn shock absorber pivot (2.7.4)

The exhaust has been fixed, knocking off the first 4. My friendly mechanic recons the handbrake cable has snapped on one side causing the hand brake issues.

He doesn't know what they're getting to with the steering as he thought it was fine.

So a handbrake cable and a couple of  bushes and you might have an mot.

£650 groats or would swap I guess.

I'm in Ayrshire, West Coast of Scotland. I can't see any reason it wouldn't drive to an mot station of your choice but it's not done a ton of miles in the last year 700.

I followed your thread on this Panda...

You've put time, effort and a not insubstantial amount of moolah in to it.

I hope someone takes it on.

Tempting. Seriously tempting.

What's wrong with the steering rack? Does it feel rough when turning the wheel? Or is that fail linked into the track rod?

Posted

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I can't feel anything and neither can the guy who took it in for its mot. Maybe the track rod ends are hanging up at full lock.

Posted

Probably strut bearings, the 500s are prone to them getting rough.

Posted

It had a good second hand set of struts fitted last year too.

Thankd fit the info. Probably 900 quid or made of unobtainoim no doubt.

Not got the energy for a ROFL on this one.

Anyway I'm getting the work done for it's MOT. More $$$ outlayed but I think it gives me the best chance of actually getting something back for it.

Posted

My current theory is it'll get through it's MOT and just as I hand over the cash for the work a chimney loosened by tonights storms with slip of a roof top and crush it.

Posted

No it's not insured and on SORN as it's been skulking in my garage for 7 months.

Now with a year's mot . I've got it up for £999 but semi insulting swaps and offers entertained.

Posted

I once considered spending 10x that on a 100hp.

Once.
