Nice one! Was only mildly jealous when you were talking about it last week!

Thanks for all your comments :) It makes it feel even more epic! I just arrived in Turku as it took longer than expected due to a woefully small petrol tank and stopping to take photos.

This converted hotel ship is where I am staying tonight, I am going in search of a bar now for a much needed drink and will find one with WiFi and upload today's photo dump.

I've done about 300 miles today and the car is everything I hoped it would be and the sound it makes is awesome :)

That is absolutely superb: the colour, the hub caps, everything. That wide shot of the petrol station is brilliant, too. There's nothing quite like a long-distance European collection in an untested 50 year old smoker. Bliss.

Bloody hell what a winner, have a great trip! You kept that one quiet or did I miss something?

Just looked back over the route again on p1. From this point on the rest of us are officially fucking amateurs. Astonishing and uplifting stuff.

Agreed, but XM owners are used to living life on the edge!

I have no words to describe the epicness of this. I've just put all my hats on so I can take them off to you.

SU carbs!!!!!

Hitachi clones built under license to be pedantic, metric though so imperial SU parts are not compatible.

I'm just trying to imagine that sound...

It sounded so simple last week: "I'm going to Finland to buy a Datsun Cedric"

Ok then.

It's a looker mind you, and I had no idea there was an estate! Well bought, sir. Round of applause.

That's a seriously nice looking car. I guess they weren't sold over here at all?

I'd be surprised if they were, Dan, I'm sure I would have remembered.  Excellent purchase, epic trip.

Dan: you and I now have to do the Euro trip we were talking about!

Back in time for Cannock? This is absolutely amazing. Make sure you take LOTS of photos.

Yeah will miss dinner Friday night but if it all goes to plan the Cedric will be in attendance Saturday

That's pretty special. Looking forward to hearing how the story began...

Back story will be done when home :)

Well out of my league, I wouldn't go that far on a plane both ways.

Only three hours from Gatwick to Helsinki then a four hour train journey to the sellers house

Bloody hell what a winner, have a great trip! You kept that one quiet or did I miss something?

People I met in person knew as I couldn't resist blurting it out but I kept it quiet otherwise for maximum impact, I don't really do suspense lol

No we got them in the UK, I have a USB thumb drive from the seller with much photos including a picture of a UK estate, I checked the reg and it's been SORN for years so when mine lands it may well be the only one in the UK. It is/will have been the only one in Finland.

Should we just shut down collection threads until at least the end of the year? Nobodies topping this for a while.

Sublime. Without asking numbers, I assume it was financially worth making a big roadtrip to buy something as special as this?

It cost approx 1200 times what I paid for my Proton..... That is without the cost of collection which I am treating as a holiday lol. No idea what it would be worth in the UK assuming there was actually one for sale. At this point I have no intention of ever selling this car so cost is almost irrelevant, my thought process was, I want this, I can afford this, I am having this!

I would not be parking that where the Proton is!!!!!!
