If anyone manages to get a car to show 5318008 then they will be an absolute hero.  I don't think even silly-mile trucks get that high do they?  Has any vehicle ever done five million miles?

In my old job when I did a breakdown repair on a truck, I was required to take note of the mileage on my paperwork.

I think I remember  2 million odd miles was the highest I saw, that was on a Daf CF Autologic car transporter

Maybe not really high mileage yet, but I'm enjoying piling the miles onto this

offered fuck all by insurers due to mileage,

your insurer, or the insurer of the party at fault?  You could tell your own insurer to do one and persue a claim directly against the fault party insurer, whereby you can absolutely insist that they repair the vehicle, or that they pay out for an equivalent that can be purchased tomorrow to put you back where you were before the loss.  Insurers will do/say Absolutely Fucking Anything to try and wriggle out of paying out for a claim, so it may be worth persuing this somewhat so you can get back your investment.  An advert for a high-ish miles Zafira, plus the fact that it was recently serviced, new tyres etc... that could easily come to £1500.

Don't be fobbed off by insurance bullshit about "that's all we can offer you" or "the book value is..."  They have an obligation to put you, as the non-fault party back to where you were pre-accident, including all your costs associated with the accident.  Financially, they should make the accident "invisible".

Not the cars fault, other drivers not concentrating.

Minding my own business on the motorway, then bang straight into the central crash barrier after being hit by a wayward Passat. Cat B right off, offered fuck all by insurers due to mileage, although they reckon they did me a favour as they valued it at 200k miles as thats all there system goes up to!

Gutted really as it was running sweet as a nut, had been serviced 5 days before the accident and the front tyres where less than a week old. I also never got past my personal best of 390k - not the ending the old faithful girl deserved.

Might not be, but at least it did you full service and you're able to type that after a quite big smash on a high-speed road.

UGH. Gutted.  I was thinking about this just the other day.  That's galling.

Glad you're ok though.  What next?  @Broddershigh miler Astra estate would have been suitable but I think it's sold now.

We had a long standoff for a couple of months over valuation, they started off under a grand I told em it needed to be £2k+. Proof of maintenance supplied, various engineers reports done and we kind of got there in the end. Tried my insurer and the third partys, both promised the moon on a stick but shied away when it came to valuation, "You see Mr Popsicle we can only pay out the maximum amount the engineers value the car at" bollox.

Yep can recommend stuffing a Zafira into an armco at 60ish mph, some whiplash and a damaged wrist but as you say still around to share the experience.

Fortunately only a few days before the accident a car for Mrs Popsicle was acquired from this very site from @Dan_ZTT. A Citroen C4 grand picasso, the one with the caramac interior. As we'd still got her old car and that had served as a back up to the Zafira, I carried on with that.  So I've been wafting around in a Vectra estate, its not even ran in yet only got 158k miles on it!

I’m in Mackworth but only for the next few weeks. I spent my childhood down there ‘helping’ relatives keep Dolomites and Princesses etc on the road. So many happy memories 😂

I rented a room in Smackworth, in 2010/2011 whilst contracting at a well known jet engine maker.

Before renting in Allenton, Wilmorton, and Chad and

Not to far if I'm lucky enough to win the tilt lift roffle then 😄.

My first car was a dolly, we probably scavenged from the same motors!

And then i bought a house in Uttoxeter because after 10 years of living in someone's spare room 4 nights week, it eventually gets a bit too wearing.

Engine in the car is not the original and has about 20,000 more than the clocks showing.  Runs great!

Only done another 50 miles since this picture was taken a month ago though :(

An ASDA Sprinter was home-delivering to the old guy who lives in the flat next door to us yesterday.  Out of interest checked the miles from DVLA MOT history on my phone, (have the MOT history site as a quick access icon on phone screen), it was a 57-plate with 331k miles on it.

Local ASDA and Tesco run some older Sprinters, going back to maybe 14-plate or older, intend to check out a few more.

Do we have an equivalent low mileage thread? GVO282J has only done 1200 miles since 1971. Yes only twelve hundred miles!

Nope just not used very much. The engine isn't officially run in until 3000 miles....

That's 1203.4 miles, an average of 24.068 miles per year 😀

Probably done around 100000 miles right? Wrong!
