The famous Ecurie Ecosse transporter as modelled by Corgi. Commer Avenger coach chassis with TS3 engine and bespoke Alexander body. It even gets a mention on the Ecurie Ecosse Wikipedia page, which says it sold for £1.8 million in 2013. Lynx restored it, hence the Eventer.

My current wagon. I'm now tramping for a small general haulage company in West Thurrock, having finished with Woodland Group in July after nearly three years (between then and starting my current job, I suffered five weeks working for Uniserve, whose transport department couldn't run a piss-up in a brewery; just because a company has a fleet of brand new trucks, it doesn't mean that it's any good to work for). A definite step up from the knackered 17 plate Actros I used to drive ^^

Cheers! I took leave of the forum for various car and mental health reasons, but attending the HubNut Social today and meeting lots of lovely people and seeing lots of lovely cars convinced me to return. Incidentally, I was chatting with Mr. HubNut and others about the Mighty Dacia at the social 

I'm going to be all over the place in the aforementioned DAF, as my company covers a pretty wide base. I've only been as far as Cannock so far, but I'm off to the West Country on Monday. I'm hoping that I'll be going to Wales and Scotland in due course.

Yes, but it's currently off the road sans MOT due to ongoing running issues which I have so far been unable to rectify. I suspect that the idle control valve has failed. I hope to get it back on the road in time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of owning it in December

What idle control valve is it on yours? I might have one spare here… somewhere.

I'm not sure what type it is, as the labels on it have had their print removed by carb cleaner 😄

I should be able to get a new replacement from eBay cheaply enough, as they're common to a lot of cars from the 1980s and 1990s. I had a go at cleaning the existing one, but I've not attempted to start the car since doing so several weeks ago, so I don't know if there's any improvement.

Basically you and @danthecaprimangot me through the early/fledgling stages of Volvo ownership way back when I was fairly new around here.

Interestingly (Or not) I actually served 3 years of an apprenticeship for Leyland Daf... Seems a long time ago now, but their trucks were well thought of at the time.  IIRC the 95XF was the bees knees/biggest one they did at the time.

I really like the CF as it's easy to drive and has a well laid-out dashboard. I especially like the fact that due to the high cab (Space Cab?) it's got loads of overhead storage space and I'm able to stand up straight in it 

Pity about 'that' warning sound, though 😮

I used to do two nights out a week in a 63 plate CF. It only had the standard height cab though, so I couldn’t even sit up on the bunk, let alone stand up.

We have a 54 plate cf at work as a shunter (workshops on  3 different levels). Braking control, air suspension, low coolant warning etc all faulty. Every time you start it badabing badabing 🤣

Been back to this builders merchants today to buy timber and ballast. I asked what they do with these waggons. The counter chap said they run and just want people to enjoy them. They are on the way to Newark Truckfest today.

Not quite as old, but these were operating locally to me; I used to see them regularly when I commuted along the A27 between Eastbourne and Bexhill/Hastings:

 I should add that they're not my pics - I was never quick enough to pap them either! I used to regularly meet them at the Pevensey roundabout in the morning as I drove to Herstmonceux.

Apparently last week they gave out a number of long service awards. Loads at 25 years, and a few at 50 years. Tony Clayton retired the other week 48 years working there. If I manage 7, then something has gone wrong with my retirement calculations.

Is it a good one then? Despite it being only 15 mile down the road I still haven't been. Be a good day out for us as my uncle was a hgv mechanic by trade and even I started on the trucks.
