Apparently there's a Tesla running around out there on the plate "CU57ARD"....

On a Range Rover: F16HTC spaced up and screwcovered as FIGHT C

The first rule of number plates is you do not talk about number plates.

The second rule of number plates is YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT NUMBER PLATES.

After my previous spot of something that was trying to spell NO GAS on a Leaf, I saw MY55 MPG on a Prius yesterday. Who says greenies are earnest and have no sense of humour?

Not so much humerous as odd on this Yaris (or is it an Aygo?).  I'm guessing it's just an old reg transferred onto a newer car.

I thought that the DVLA used that as an example reg on their website because it wasn't in use.

Disappointingly, MU57ARD doesn't appear to be in use.

I've just connected two facts about a car I saw earlier.

Fact 1: It had the registeration 5OLO.

Fact 2: It was a Polo.

Neither is BA57ARD.

I had a customer with the surname Tastard, one day he appeared with the plate TA57ARD on his BMW.

I commented in this and he was happy to tell me he only paid £1200 for it, “mate of mine in the trade reckons you start at £5k if you want your surname on your numberplate. I’d be quids in if I sold it.”

His wife said, “who exactly would you sell it to?”

He though for a moment and said “my sister”.

“She’s not a Tastard anymore” was the very dismissive response.

“She might get a divorce...”.

TA57ARD is no longer in use.

This is my ideal plate! Never likely to have such a modern motor though :?

I bet BUR70N would be expensive (if the U is allowed, it seems to be hit and miss).

DVLA seems to think it's on a modern Landy or Rangey, buy MOT checker and Cazana throw up errors.

BVR70N is apparently a Volvo 145 that's been untaxed since 1987.

A ropey Transit just passed my house, plate was N33GAS... I have to wonder how the DVLA let that happen.

Possibly because N16GAS wasn't available?

Can we have a new rule please?

Please, when you post a picture, explain what the number plate is supposed to say (or at least what you think it's trying to say, if anything at all) eg P20 ANO - wot hell this mean?

....P20 ANO - wot hell this mean?

It means that the piano business couldn't afford to pay for P1ANO.

The lettering under the number plate says “Gordon Bell Pianos”, the letters in the numberplate are meant to sound like “piano” (Pee A No).

I didn’t think this was too much of a stretch.

I'm a bit dim.

I'd have got it if it was PI ANO, or may be even PIO ANO (because it looks a bit like piano) but P20 ANO = piano? As my sarcastic daughter would say, really?

(should mention here that I didn't see the bit that mentioned pianos on the bumper)

Anyhow, it would be nice if there was a translation for us dopes wot don't get it.

You know what they say about sarcasm...

But that does explain, to us dimwits, what letters some numbers refer to.

For the dim of wit, someone has drawn in the dirt on the numberplate.

There is a P at the beginning and a T at the end to make the words “PENIS TWAT”.

It is funny because the words are rude.

Im still surprised the DVLA were quite happy to issue PN15 registrations even though SN07 "wasn't appropriate".

Yesterday, I failed to get picture of an E36 BMW 320i convertible returning to nature in Sparkbrook with the plate TPR10S. Now I'm wondering if the owner thought they'd get some £££s selling it to a Toyota Prius owner? Or maybe the owners name is Timothy Prios?
