Memoirs: Mini on the Move.

I have been quoted £1400 + VAT for a full CX stainless system by Profusion Exhausts near Heathrow. That's quite a lot.

I have a stainless, four into one manifold & a 'quiet pack' silencer on my T2. It was built by a bloke who used to call himself Turbo Thomas. http://www.ttexhausts.com It is anything but fucking quiet! Incidentally the silencer replaced a  'Supertrapp' that I ran for a decade! Like this but in stainless - https://supertrapp.com/supertrapp-412-15000-4-inch-universal-aluminum-racing-series-muffler-1-5in-id-1-75in-core-8-disc

Just had a call from the BBC in Norridge there.  They're writing a follow up piece on the Mini for BBC online this weekend - as it's been a year since she landed.

Finally, I get to say a proper thanks to Mr @alf892 - although hopefully the Gin and Beer did a little bit of that.

I'll post up a link as and when it happens!

Weird one - does anyone here remember taking this photo at FotU?  Maybe @egg??

That is indeed one of my photos!

Do you mind if I send it over to the BBC man for consideration in his article? You get a photo credit and everything.

Beer and gin covered it!

that camera certainly shows the air intake hole under the headlight nicely.............

While I think about it, here's a few snaps I had to hand of the Mini.

Just off my phone so hardly masterpieces, but I like to try to make sure folks get all the snaps of their cars when I remember!

I must admit I did wonder why this was one of only 4 stories to come up under the England tab on the BBC news app this morning.

Was worried you had ironically crashed it into your grans headstone or something actually newsworthy.

I think it was written as a soft "weekend" story and then ended up being held back (most likely because they had a proper story turn up)

Blimey. Can't we just agree to disagree? I can see both points of view, although the BASE is a bit of a rarity and deserves tlc.

The original argument as I read it was about fitting a bosal to a 258k Avensis.

I see no problem with that. I've fitted a few* with no comebacks.

I love that mini, it reminds me of how minis were when I was a kid in the 80s with 10" wheels and the little chrome hubcaps :)

Saw this little beauty last year in rural Somerset, it was really nice because it was so standard like Minis used to be when they were everywhere, none of the chrome crap bling you get on old minis.

It’s a real treat for the eyes this Mini. Just how they should be.

Every single mini you see nowadays has exactly the same wanky chrome trinkets slapped on, you forget what an ‘ordinary’ one actually looks like. 10/10 WOULD CRANE NECK TO SEE DURING DRIVE-BY

That's exactly why I like Mr. Bornites so much. It's just what you would see if you walked through any carpark in the 80s.

Did they forget to finish building the St*r*ucks? The building to the right almost looks embarrassed.

Mini looks ace btw. You prefer it to the Sierra, don't you? ?

My grandparents had a Mk1 Escort for most of the 70s, I'll ask mum if there's a picture of it anywhere.

Wife’s 500 Twin Air has gone on strike. Limp mode engaged, EML on. It smelt a bit burny as she hobbled up the road. I “ignition cycled” and it was fine for a minute and then stopped revving past 3500 rpm.

Strangely, my Toyota has never done any of this in its 260,000 miles and 20 years on earth. Neither has the emergency “supply” Corolla.

Let’s hope it’s not a good bumming I’m in for here...

I found this on Flickr and thought it might interest you @BorniteIdentity. It's of a 1.3 bASe Sierra that as of 3 years ago was surviving in Holland

Highs and lows. Highs and fuck off lows.

Wife was cleaning. Tiny stone smaller than the tip of your little finger on the floor. I lob it over the fence into the field but it hits the tree and hits the Sierra.

I’m not sure any healthy screen should pack up that easily, but it’s just my fucking luck. Fil managed to split our brand new bath the other day too as he got impatient with the panel.

I can’t bear to look at the fucker now (car, not father in law). It’s a burden - it looks shite, drives terribly and lowers the tone immeasurably. But my sons love it. Right now I just want to put every other window through and piss on it.

Off you fuck, out of sight.

If you hadn't just announced it on a public website you could probably of got it through your insurance...  Would it be covered for yobbo fkwit malicious damage. Maybe even accidental damage ?
