chaseracer Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Got home about 2145 after weird satnag route. Thanks for the push, everyone
anonymous user Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Me and Toby (the brown dog who left brown paw marks on everyone he met) are safely home. Apologies to everyone I missed and didn't get to speak to, bigger apologies to those who I did. Many thanks to our host and everybody else. I seem to have brought a lot of the mud home with me on my clothes, hopefully I don't require planning consent. M'coli, HMC, purplebargeken and 2 others 5
Skizzer Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I arrived this evening and missed lots of people, which is sad, but had a good chat with others which has been grand. In wussy hotel now (mobile data, yay!) - night night, see you tomorrow for more talking shite.
rml2345 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Irritated not to have made this but given how stuck all the Xantias look it's perhaps not the worst.Looks like bloody good fun though, well done team! davidfowler2000 1
anonymous user Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I just can't understand how people were getting stuck, I had no problems at all. OK I cheated and would never have lived it down if I had got stuck. KruJoe, explosive-cabbage and M'coli 3
Wilko220 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Good to chat to a few people on my very brief visit today. Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend. And I hope I'm able to commit to a proper level of participation next time. Skattrd - I just missed you unfortunately, so the Sherpa mirror glass you wanted I've left with Ruffgeezer. skattrd 1
rantingYoof Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Brief visit, good to sit there and listen to people chat about cars, even if I didn't participate too much. Nice to also see some legendary cars in the metal. Have to admit that I'm a massive southern softie and the mud/ground conditions were enough to make me want to limit my time there, but I'm glad I turned up! There'll be others, too, one hopes. In fact, the idea being floated about of finding an abandoned car manufacturing plant (literally no idea where we'd find one of those around here, tsk) and having an indoor Shitefest was simply brilliant. The yellow bus is amazing. I'm astounded it only has 180hp. That's the same as my Volvo, which weighs just slightly less.... davidfowler2000 1

The Moog Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Got back to the hallowed turf of Accrington. Just under 500 mile round trip today but well worth it. Was a tad moist and muddy but that added to the fun. I seem to have come back with even more shit than I took, including a box of ax bits. Did the beemer get fixed??
RayMK Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 The meeting of two Stellars took place, this rare event causing the sun to shine for an hour or two whilst I was there. Good to meet you Mat and to hear that glorious V8. I met several others including junkman but it seems I can only remember names if accompanied by a V8 soundtrack. On my way home, the weather was atrocious with flash floods and rain so heavy that 20mph was as much as the wipers could handle. An hour or two later on my way to Wendover there was more rain, then at around 9pm yet more of the cloudburst type. If any of it hit the field I think the already difficult conditions could become experienced off roader territory only. Many seemed to take the mud in their humorous stride. It may be wise to count people in and out of the field, particularly the athletic helpers....a sudden boost to traction may not have been a strip of wood! davidfowler2000, Junkman, The Moog and 2 others 5
Junkman Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Sorry for not making it back to the FOD after the 9 o'clock thunderstorm. However, here is my account. Visitors were greeted by this at the entrance: Conelrad Rover did not remain alone for long: That Woltzy is delightful: Further on in the grounds is an open air museum: Harold k00p is better than it looks: Hareld cabrio not so: There were some cars parked: I did not know that Sierras can actually be in good condition: Marina (note: not Wolters) was fingerlickingly nice and gave the term pov spec a whole new meaning, at least outside the Eastern Bloc: Street parking ca. 1989 (That German stuff will never catch on...): French corner: V8 Stella and a loo4poo: RayMK, garycox, worldofceri and 17 others 20
Junkman Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Access road* to the FOD:This Shitrun does not leak LHM:In the FOD, there were people:Someone took pictures of a Lada dent:The Lada was erected:Someone won't be happy:Many people arrived on foot:But some cars had made it into the field:For example this Maestro:The holy grail is a lot shonkier than any pictures suggest:75 with unblown head gasket:This looks a lot better in the flesh than on pics:Jappo waftbarge acting as a tent anchor:Assorted shite:Final preparations for wheel of misfurtune roffle:Not an errand dubber - this Corrado was delightful:Outside the compound was some chod that didn't make it into the compound.Visa trying hard to be a road block:German executive saloon:German executive cabrio:Meanwhile in England:Some Mazda:Some Datsun:I'm sorry, but I really don't know what these are. Then a bus arrived. It spat out a coach party:It was appropriately headboarded:Ever backed an Imperial into a dog house? There wasn't much room on the offside:There wasn't much room on the nearside either:But it made it:There were tasteful seats downstairs:Upstairs too:One could see the open air museum from above:And some people:It's actually just a car, just bigger, yellow, and with more of everything:It just doesn't blend into traffic though. In fact, it just doesn't blend in, period:But neither does this: Vantman, holbeck, brownnova and 27 others 30
Junkman Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Oh, and the V8 Stella developed some running problems, which I hope are now fixed after we took the carburetters apart during a thunderstorm. It turned out that there was basically nothing wrong with them, so it could have been caused merely by a lack of damper oil. Sadly the Dreier Bimmer from Scotoshire opted to throw its petrol out of the pram, despite German cars are so good and never break.Needless to say, that excuses were on tap that this wasn't the car's fault.I bet this would have sounded quite differently, had the car been manufactured in England. Jerzy Woking, RayMK, Lacquer Peel and 1 other 4
Richard Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 The Lada arrived on a trailer, which is now redundant. Joe has kindly agreed to let us use it to repatriate the E30 if required, using the towbar he sold me at SF15.
skattrd Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 What's the news on the roffle results for Samaratat?
quicksilver Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I forgot to mention something remarkable that happened last night. Junkman said a car was not fucked (the blue Herald coupe). M'coli and Junkman 2

M'coli Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 PS, is there any chance John K could bring the parcel shelf and flattened boxes I left on the bus while I camped in my car Friday night up with him if he's passing my way please?
254575 Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Big Thanks to Mr Six for arranging this. I had to bolt early due to a family situation so didn't stay for the second night. was great to meet some old friends and make new ones - hope everyone has a safe journey home For Fiats Sake 1
phil_lihp Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Looks like Glastonbury for old cars, glad everyone had a good time despite the weather. Shame I've missed yet another one but on the other hand I have my suspicions that a rear wheel drive, automatic 4.0 Jaguar Sovereign may have found the field quite a challenge.
